Ive said it so many times to new skaters online and in real life, balance is everything. The biggest difference between the first and the second skater is balance. Emma is so much more comfortable on the board just riding and Adnan is still struggling going straight after six months. Once you got your balance youre going to find all other tricks so much easier.

Life got messy and I stopped skating for nearly 15 yrs, from like 30 to 45. But there is no universal truth for skateboarding and aging. RN I feel as comfortable on a board as I did when I was 20 yrs younger. BUT for a good 5 or 6 years, while my mom was dying of cancer and I was constantly super stressed, my body was a wreck, constantly tired, bad back, weird injuries, not enough exercise so muscles atrophying. Getting back into skateboarding has helped pull me out of all that.

For anyone asking themselves whether they arr too old to start skating again… Stop asking and just start skating. I returned to skateboarding at 37. After almost 20 years of non skating. 32 now and I haven't skateboarded in 18 years til today. the urge has been growing for a few years and playing session skate and YT recommendations started to make me wonder if I can do it still. I found my old skateboards and combined parts that still work. I have tiny wheels and a thin board, but everything I used to do still works. I'm so excited to keep going and learn a kick flip. Younger skaters have no idea how lacking information on the internet was back when I was trying to learn to do tricks and I failed at socializing.

My approach is a little different; I started riding scooters at 48 and skateboards at 50. The scooter is my main thing, and sometimes take it too seriously. The skateboard always comes with me to parks and street spots, and after a heavy scooter session, I like to break out the board to relax and do whatever. I may or may not ollie one day, but I love rolling around on it and flicking dinky little tricks on my own terms and creativity.

@meeserbaker Жыл бұрын
Ive never heard of that before tgats crazy bro wat?! You can switch flip fine but literally cannot do it regular? That's crazy. BUT, what you should do is hyper focus and analyze exactly what ur doing when you do the switch flips and apply it with left foot forward. Something I necer thought of before, till earlier today actually, is to think about where your weight is on the board right before you pop n when you execute the trick. That's probly a big factor in why you cant do it normally. I bet ur weight is shifted totally different when going for the regular flips. Obviously it is cuz ur feet are switched but I mean comparatively speaking. Like pay attention to how your weight distribution is and foot placement and also importantly how/where your shoulders are facing. Without knowing specifically what happens when you yourself attempt a normal flip its hard for anyone on here to diagnose what it is exactly the problem. Another thing id recommend if you havent already check out brailles skateboarding made simple series and specifically the "learn how to kickflip the fastest way" (or something close to that) its like one of the most viewed of their videos. Aaron is pretty good at teaching skating. Hes thorough so you'll always know what to do with each body part that matters for what trick. And has steps that you can do at each "stage" of the trick. Like popping it and getting rotation, THEN try to get that down with only 1 foot on, THEN learn to lift that back foot up, theeennn put it all together and commit. Idk man I hope this helps.

@@arienteyou’re goofy brother. Start skating goofy and you have already learned to be comfortable switch. I may be wrong since I’ve never heard of that before. But kickflips are really hard to do switch for most skaters in general

Non skate question what’s the music at the start that ends at 12 seconds in? I’ve heard it before and have been looking for it for a few years. Would love to download it or something.
