How crazy this am I went to big box store and for $29.99 I got a pot with 2 plants same size if not a few leaves Larger than yours. I was so excited! We have a plant Co in US called proven winners who now is selling rare or uncommon house plants which is great! They are mainly an outside plant company. I think it’s a beautiful philo! Ty for info right as I was looking! :)

Agree with your review of this plant! I have one that took up most of my house with long leaves. I’ve cut it, given it to friends & now I’m saying bye to it as I have no room for it. Thanks for sharing Memo!

Fortunate to find this video. I have one!!!! Surprised b/c I had bought it as a billetiae...turns out it has red/maroon leaves all the way; Now I know I got lucky. It is very very similar to a billetiae. Mine grows very fast 2-3 leaves month this Summer. Thank you, Memo!

I love this philodendron! It's one of my favorite non-velvet philo. Gorgeous and tough. You can get really creative with it too--twining it with others. It definitely grows faster the warmer it gets. Mine grows far faster than my billietiae--but I'm in Virginia; hotter, longer summers. Have had great luck propagating in sphagnum or cutting offshoots from pruned vines. The offshoots grow arial roots. Have one growing outside in shade this summer and it's gotten super dark. I also use it to filter my freshwater aquarium.

I agree that the Billie is a classic for a reason. I love how they can be trained to be more of a trailing plant off a shelf and use those long petioles as an advantage.

Hello Memo. We were lucky enough to discover this plant in a local garden centre in the Netherlands. They were priced right so we bought two!😊 So far they have both been thriving with no fuss whatsoever. They were both fairly juvenile when we got them but the one we put in semihydro has progressed to a point where it’s overdue for a mosspole which it’s going to get soon. We highly recommend this plant

It's a Venezuelan species associated with the Atabapo River and ajoining rivers. The Atabapo River separates Venezuela and Colombia. It is found in hot, humid areas.

Just got a plantlet on auction- the seller said he felt they are underrated and then he showed the pretty red backs and I looked up the leaf shape and gave her a chance! I’ll get her on a moss pole when she gets more rooted. I think yours are beautiful!

I watched your video and loved this plant and got it. The underside of the leaves are so beautiful and even the immature leaves are so stunjing and delicate! We'll swe how it goes

I love my P. Bicolor! The Atabapoense was on my wishlist for quite awhile but I never came across it at the right time. I don’t want it anymore just because of the wingspan. I don’t want to make room for it or the Billy or the SS. My anthurium are getting bigger and need the space 😜🤣

I potted mine up with my Billi to save space. It is slow growing. I do love it. Can't wait for it to mature. But I won't be holding my breath. It is easy to care for too. 💚

I have a Atabapoense x Billietiae hybrid:) And it is so fast and easy to grow! I started it with one 8cm leaf cutting in early spring 23 and the newest leaf is 45 cm now. It is growing very happy on a moospole:) One of my biggest plants.

I have one. I recently chopped it and am propagating the top in water. About 2 weeks in and I've got a little root showing 😊 I love the silvery blue of the front and the red backs. Gorgeous! I do need a taller pot - I like self-watering so it's hard to find height. I'm going to put mine on a moss pole because it's worth it!

thanks for the share on this plant! I was debating between a few plants with similar looking leaves but different growth patterns and ended up with the Billie and philo. mexicanum instead. might have to get one of these now!

I like mine a lot. It’s not the fastest, but I also have it in a stick and not a pole. I think the leaves are beautiful. My biggest wishlist plant at the moment is actually the variegated Atabapoense.

I have this plant high on a shelf where it gets more heat and you can see the undersides of the leaves. I am glad that it might be a slower grower; so a space saver for as long as possible. Enjoy the bluer green as compared to my Billi.

We have one of these . Ours has grown up a moss pole and onto an extension. Ours grows roots up the pole well ahead of the stem growing tip. Therefore the reason I write is to suggest that moss pole on both of the plants in this video is far to short.Anyone looking for help growing these needs to know of there potential to grow roots😂 12 inches above the stem when moisture is present. While I do live in Australia our area still has multiple weeks of frost.

Thank you for this video. You made me appreciate having this plant. I paid a reasonable price for it during the pandemic. I agree with all you said, it propagates in water after about 2 months, never had any pests on it. I’d rate it a 6 and I’m about to chop both mine up and start the cuttings on a moss pole as soon as they are ready instead of the stick I have it on. Lol

this plant wasn't on my list by my nursery was selling random fresh cuttings for $3. I scored one of these, a red emerald and a mayoi! however, i am excited to get the leaves to mature, gonna be very jungle-y! Propagation is easy outside (in soil) in Houston.

Its a really beautifull plant, easy grower, never had problems with pests or anything. I had it for more then 2 years, it was huge, but after downsizing my collection of climbing Philodendron I did so many propagations of it. At least in Germany there is no demand at all for it, took me several months to sell them all for a really low price, most of them ended in mixed plant sell pakets. Its really underrated, but people are not interested in it. :(

Also needed to say that I have a philo subhastatum; and as they get larger they loss all the red on the back of the leaves. Larger, as in over foot long leaves.

what I dont like about this species is that grows toooooo leggy. What I have done is to chop it up and stick all of them in the substrate so it grows bushier all together.

Wasn't lucky with this one: they didn't really like the shipping... Were 2 plants in a pot, started to drop ALL their leaves and then just rotted out... :S :(((

As a king patron of janky support sticks I was more than surprised when you put ata on a moss pole. That's because I have matured this plant with just a support stick, no moss. I have grown Atabapoense from a teeny plant to a mature one and it has been a super unfussy and rewarding plant from me, except the part when people come to my house and they think ata and Billie are literally the same plant and can't tell each other apart 🥹
