Thanks for the video and all your work! My feelings have changed towards non-OEM mags somewhat. At first, I was all about it. Then after issues with the Shield Arms mags, I was like, nope. Then, PSA micros came out. Zero malfunctions (so far), so my pendulum swung a bit back to the "ok, but only if I carry an OEM spare." If I can't carry a spare, it's an OEM only in the magwell. Just not 100% there yet. God bless!

I've got a couple of things about aftermarket mags. One hand, they're great for the range. Usually less expensive, and you're not *as* concerned about wearing out the springs. Less expensive also means more $$$ for ammo. That, and IF there ARE issues with the mags, it's a learning experience. Of how to diagnose, and possibly fix a problem. Which, we can always use more of. 😉 I've also been in the situation of the manufacture NOT producing standard capacity mags. My Ruger Mini-30. They literally ONLY Made 10 rounders for it, so aftermarket 30's were the only option. It's a lot easier to research and get reviews on manufacturers and products now, than it was before internet was so common. Use that tool. Research, and VET THE HELL OUT of aftermarket mags, if you think you are gonna carry with them.

I tried a Glock 9mm single stack once. I am by no means strong. I have had many serious injuries. I had no business shooting it. It was very painful. If you can handle it-as you said, that is what matters the most. I once heard and agree, "You are responsible for every bullet that comes out of your gun". I love that statement.

I feel a little weird about carrying the factory mag with Pearce +1. I'll keep my G43 six or seven shot. Usually I carry a G19 instead, anyway.

OEM for carry, always. I can’t trade peace of mind and reliability for additional rounds. If more capacity is critical, then I need a bigger gun.

@@chasedooley6237 Ok, so this is just for conversation. No gotcha, no judgement. What's your opinion on mags from other guns, that use compatible mags? My example was when I had a VP9 and a VP9 sk. I could easily plug the 15's from my VP9 into the SK's 10 round hand grip. Or using something newer, like the Shield Plus, being able to use the SW Equalizer 15 round mags?
@chasedooley6237
@chasedooley6237 Жыл бұрын
@@WarriorSoul357 Sure, I think that’s intended use, so it’s OEM. I like that versatility myself. I can use my G17 or G19 mags in my G26, and expect 100% reliability; that’s awesome. When I say I need a larger gun, a G26 with a 15- or 17-rd mag, or even in higher capacity, would fall into that category. I can use a G26 for yearly carry and avoid the potential pitfalls of a carry rotation (I like being skilled in few guns versus many). 10 rd in the summery, 15/17rd in the winter with larger, more concealing clothing. So yup, I like it. I have a 15-rd mag for my Shield Plus too.
@WarriorSoul357

@@chasedooley6237 Chase, Nice setup, and great way of thinking. 👍 Agreed. Your G26 is a bit smaller than my Canik Elite SC, but I've got similar options as for mags. 12 standard, 15 also, 17, and then the options for the other Canik pistols. (tho that's also where the 17's come from.) It's really great that more and more manufacturers finally smartened up, and started giving us options like this, instead of proprietary mags per their different pistols. And yes... Glock WAS at the forefront of this particular movement! 😁 HAHAHAHA when somebody says "Bigger gun" I start thinking "Rifle calibers" 😁

My S15s work great in my 43x. They have learned a lot from the S15 iterations, so my guess is that these new Z9s should work well. Btw I was at Shield Arms last weekend for an open house event. The company is doing some cool things, watch for some news in the future re G42. Thanks SPN for the video.

I was told that for capacity, more ammo keeps you in the fight longer. And that assumes that you are in a deadly encounter longer than your first mag. Just something to calculate for yourself if it ever comes to it. I often carry my G26 with OEM mag of 10 rounds for best concealability, and a 15 round OEM G19 mag in my other pocket with a deep Neomag carry clip. This gives me 25 rounds and I am only missing 5 rounds from when I carry the G19 in my Trex Sidecar with a spare mag in that setup. Find a system that works for you and practice with it. There are tradeoffs for every setup but the G26 (my super concealed mode) and G19 (easier to conceal with more clothes in winter) are reliable and consistent for me.
@WarriorSoul357
@WarriorSoul357 Жыл бұрын
Ok so here's to bust the myth. Not to be a smartass. More SKILL keeps you in the fight longer. More ammo means you can keep shooting longer. *Assuming you can still shoot* Which, if you haven't seen combat.. that's a mistake a lot of people make before they actually have to do it. You have to be ready to shoot and move, shoot and move, and take cover as much and as often as possible. For myself, that took training, because in a fight, I literally _don't have_ the flight instinct. I have the fire til the target drops, instinct. It really doesn't matter how much ammo you have, or how great of a shot you are. If the other guys get hits on you before or while, you're sending pills THEIR way, you're either done, son. Or you're fighting injured and likely bleeding out. As for capacity vs concealability. That really all depends on where you live, and what your situation is, through out the day. For instance, where I live is a constitutional carry state. But yeah... there's a lot of people here that would freak out over a visible gun. If concealment is the option that you need to take, you are most likely gonna have to sacrifice capacity. If that's NOT a problem. Why would you carry less in the weapon? You may not HAVE to reload, if you're carrying that 15 instead of that 10. Ya see what I mean?

I have not tried the Shield mags. I have tied the Pearce +1, the Vicker +2, and an ETS seven round. It did not find any of them as reliable as the stock 6-round mags. At the time, my required defensive ammo was the Speer Gold Dot G2 147, which might have been part of the problem. I’ve know folks with the Tarani extensions that never complained about any hiccups. Never tried them myself.

I had a +2 mag extension on my KH (There's that dyslexia again!!) *HK* VP9 sk 10 rounder. It fed perfectly fine. Mine had the issue with the slide not locking back during live fire. Sometimes. Not always. And worked fine under dry fire. Other people didn't have the same problem. I'm thinking it may have been my springs. I don't want a slide that doesn't lock back. During practice I can usually count my rounds. During pressure, no... I don't. I don't wanna think there may be a bad round in the chamber or other actual problem with *the gun* that forces me to do a check. When the time could have been spent on a reload.

@spnfirearms
@spnfirearms Жыл бұрын
Comps and ports do!
@WarriorSoul357
@WarriorSoul357 Жыл бұрын
Suppressors and recoil. So obviously when you add a shush tube, you're adding weight to the business end. So that's gonna help against muzzle rise/flip. The fact that the tube is catching alot of the gas, is gonna slow down your slide. Which means it's not gonna buck back against your hand as fast/hard. Which, helps with recoil impulse. As for one handed. THAT really depends on your weapon, the tube, and your grip. I'm gonna say "No". Because of how the weight of the tube throws off the balance of the weapon. Depending on the above factors, you may have a *harder* time staying on target with the suppressor. But again, mileage can vary. I definitely agree that compensators and porting can help fight the muzzle flip. Tho, in many cases that's a trade off for a louder muzzle report. Just to know what to expect.

Never had a pistol that felt as good in the hand, or as great on the trigger finger. I'm curious. Did you get the paddle version or the button version? Optic ready, or standard cut?
