Internet expert here. Temporary screw jack posts are to blame. If you look at the back corner of the building you'll see temporary posts bracing the top two floors along the back of the building (59 sec mark top left corner of video) above while they cure. The front of the building probably mirrored this design. My guess is they overloaded a post by loading up the top floor with building material (2:49 top floor holding lots of building material supported by temporary posts). That top floor was being supplied with building materials most likely for Mondays crew. I suspect a crane lowered a load onto a section of the building held up by temporary jacks rated for holding far less. Probably the real reason is different, I just noticed those jacks. I know they use them until concrete has cured.

That scissor lift being extended means that somebody was working it. That might be the location of the one missing worker. I'm thinking there are some others missing that are undocumented. Just a possibility. We all know they're are still two bodies in there. The one they can see should have been removed long ago. They are worried about minimal movement or shifting of material to gethim out, but theH U G E explosions that brought the cranes down Didn't cause any further collapse!! If that didn't make more fall, then why are they all that worried? When you see where that body is and that it is in debris that is protruded from the building proper, it does appear that it could be removed with little danger to anybody doing the removal. It would have really been good if the drone had gone down that side to get a better look at the placement of the materials he's trapped in.

I don't see any post shoring between the floors, which should be evident as additional floors are poured. When I use to work for CECO back in the 80s, we would pour a floor a week, but that shoring had to remain for at least 30 days until concrete cured. These guys also working on Saturdays so you know they're pushing the envelope to finish the project ahead of schedule and under budge. Too bad now as this entire building will need to be demolished to the ground and start from scratch. GC will lose his tail in litigation lawsuits and Hard Rock might not want to double down on their investment to get this done. There's nothing wrong with the design, but rather just trying to go too far too fast and most likely cutting a lot of corners.

What God has done to drastically change my life from a rage filled junky into someone that just reaches out for the sake of others is the proof required by me. You have zero ability to change your own heart, only God can if you will accept the free gift of salvation that He so mercifully has offered. If you so choose to harden your heart towards God, it is your right.....but I beg you to reconsider the true gravity of your decision, and that’s why I write. The truth is, we all have faith......for those who choose to believe NOTHING created everything, your faith is in an anomaly that defys every scientific rule ever created. This is typical steel construction. The flooring is a combination of concrete over metal decking. They still add in rebar in-between for crack control. The steel beams actually bent over. I do not believe that their was a failure in the concrete over metal decking. And the columns are actually steel beams. They have covers over them. From looking at the fly over starting at 0:45 to 0:51, you can see that there is no X bracing or V bracing between floors. X-Bracing or V-Bracing for this area may not be required, however over here in California it is required for earthquakes. I would imagine that they should have had some type of bracing for wind loads. From looking at the before and after construction video, there does not appear to be bracing. I think the crane knocked the side of the building and the building collapsed.

It's also clear that up to 8 floors were built like a tank and up to code as it took the brunt of the collapsing 10+ floors. Id ask wheres the other beam that should be standing up before the nest one rests on it. Using a crane to hold a half anchored beam will add a lot of stress to one end. But thats a wild fb detective question.
@craiggalow3545 жыл бұрын
To me it looks like column base failure at the top of the concrete parking deck below. A lot of load coming down onto the concrete columns where usually there is a large spread footing?

Compare the few thin-looking supporting beams and large expanse slabs to the WTC.., and yet not even that 1/3rd of the building FULLY collapsed... Hmm...

thanks for the excellent drone camera work.i can see now why the cranes needed to be blown down.the building seems to have little structural strength its like a deck of cards up on stilts.

Probably something to do with temporary shoring removed too soon.

Re-shoring is not used on structural steel construction.
@BrianKorth-nu7gw5 жыл бұрын
Those slabs would have definitely had temporary shoring unless they were precast.
@rrfields655 жыл бұрын
@@BrianKorth-nu7gw : they did ... before they removed them before putting in the load bearing outside walling on the 16,17,18 floors!!! The only support was the inside columns, then they are in hurry to topout by hanging more steel and putting pressure downward on the 18 deck !!!

That concrete looks flimsy as f*** . Not to be rude intentionally but I'm curious if there were cost modifications along with proper pouring thickness and if the cities inspectors had to point stuff out not properly done more than once

It appears to me there could be another secondary collapse possible, but I’m just guessing. I hope they have all surrounding areas closed off. That thing looks like it could go again.
@waynemerchant83025 жыл бұрын
If you'll notice the top three floors you will see that the vertical columns are not in alignment with the columns on the lower floors there for the floor just popped there was no way that this building was going to stand up with that kind of stupidity and its construction you don't put the load of multiple floors in the middle of a span somebody totally screwed up

Why were they building the structure so that it encased the cranes? Wouldn't that result in Resonance cracks forming near the base and around the cranes columns whenever they vibrated in the Breeze?

So sad and unfortunate, pure speculation without having "any" information, the slabs were too green and/or the reshore was missing or inataquate, or if it was a post tension slab the failure could be in stressing. Regardless my prayers are with all who are involved! Thinking back in the 80's I was on a project in Tampa FL. working for the same GC (can't recollect which) maybe Kaverner or Metric const? They had a catastrophic callapse during a slab pour at Harbourside, Tampa FL. project. Again my prayers.
