Thats the first fish we've ever gaffed and it was delicious. We all have our line in the sand.

Is gaffing a fish any less cruel than letting it slowly suffer and die in agony by suffocation, flopping on the shore?

@@petefromvermont yea just grab the fish next time you will look a lot more like a sportsman , I’ve pulled big pike outta holes it’s not that hard to fish without a gaff idc if u we’re gonna keep it , keep the gaff at home next time lol

But why was he asking if u wanted to keep it or not? Like gaffing it kills it. How you gonna let it go.. makes no sense. Brown trout are sensitive as hell. If you so much as grab them by the gills hard enough or touch them too much, itll kill them over time. Great fish but weird way to decide to keep it or not when u really had no choice bc he was gonna die after that

beautiful brown! but didn't need to gaff it,im a c.p.r guy catch picture release and browns are my fav species to target so guess im biased but very very nice fish

It was actually 30" with a 17" girth.
