This is the second match in my Universal Tennis event series! The format of the tournament is an 8-game pro set, co-ed, 8-person draw. Tonight we've got Hermont and Rishvanth. Hermont has finished a D1 career while Rishvanth is a junior still trying to grow and play college. Both are solid from the baseline and have an all-court game. Stay tuned for the rest of the matches and leave some nice comments for Hermont and Rishvanth for putting themselves out here please!

Dont think it would be much better, maybe he would have held a number of his serves, still expect the outcome to be the same. But the kid is still just a kid, once he grows and his serves get powerful, its going to be amazing.

Love your channel and approach. It is crazy how confidence can improve ones performance. Hermont was a bit nervous in the first two games but then he shows what a D1 player can do! Just for reference, he is 10.87 UTR while the highest college tennis player is at 14.42!

Great video, and humbling to all non tennis players, there is so much depth to it, honestly seeing how good theese two are playing, with Rishvanth playing like this already i was cheering for his points and hope to see more of him. Great work for Hermont, great example of a person still being wise enough to never stop learning, even as an experienced player still creating room for growth, aswell as giving this young player a chance to try and experience and learn from playing like this. Thank you all!

Excellent match by both players. Rishvanth didn't played poorly, but became demoralized as the match progressed. Hermont has weapons and figured out the risk vs reward paid off when going for bigger shots. This is typical for adult players playing against younger junior players. Rishvanth, I can tell your game maturity is high, and you'll be competiting with players like Hermont in no time. Hermont, great job on tactically figuring out what it took to get the job done.

I predicted a 8-1 or 8-2 scoreline with the the points themselves being close individually, since Hermont has so much more match experience having played D1 and just the overall physical advantage, so I expected him to win the more crucial points. Well played to both.

S/O to Rish he’s got game. But I suspected Hermont’s serve would prevail. I can’t imagine Rish sees that sort of speed alot even in junior champs level. That said, lots of deuce points that just didn’t go Rish’s way. But the thing about UTR is that the ratings generally are a pretty predictor of outcome. From my observation, if the discrepancy is more than a point, there’s no question the higher rated player wins. Not to say upsets don’t happen tho.

I think both played well and games were close despite the end score. Hermont has more powerful strokes and serve but a huge size advantage so Rishvanth really shouldn't feel bad about it. I think they traded shots well and both played intelligently with a mix of shots to get the opponent out of position. The penetration on Hermont's serve and forehand are unreal- I want to hit like that!

If you ever do this again (or for the later rounds of this tournament?) I think Fast4 would be a better format (best of 3 sets, first to 4 games, with a 10 pt tie break for the 3rd set). It's fun to see the adjustments between sets.

The junior player already has the goods, skills, firepower, speed, but I think it's the strategy, which is too much to ask for as young as he is that proved to be the defining factor in how he can turn it around next time. But great play for the other guy as well for showing his repertoire. Nice camera angle, you feel as if you are right there playing.

Juniors always have a hard time admitting they lost. I mean, even on my sickest days I wouldn’t use the excuse ‘I haven’t played in 2 weeks’ when I just lost 8 games in a row that weren’t really that close. But there is also a big difference in someone who played competitively at a national level and a junior that’s still learning a lot. Fun to watch anyway though, thanks

Both pretty good players, but Hermont ball's were way heavier and kid couldn't handle it. Other point to observe here was the difference in mental game between them, after some games and the kid looked like giving up. Thats why adults will win most of these matches, even if in a worse level, which wasn't the case here.
