Hi Minty, I haven’t seen the full 14 min version of the Thriller music video, but whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of the scene from the 2004 Jennifer Garner movie, 13 Going On 30, where her character is at a corporate party, and the DJ is just playing techno music, and no one is dancing, so she goes up to the DJ and asked him to play Thriller, and then everyone starts dancing. So her boss is very grateful that she saved the party from becoming a disaster. It was a fun movie that you might want to do a video on one day. Thanks, Marc K

The alt lyrics was a bit of a revelation. They really give the song a whole different mystique. It's a darker song and it feels like more's going on between the singer and lover than can be deciphered. 12:20 the "See you next Wednesday" line comes from 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, which had a pretty big impact on Landis. So as a reference, joke and "cameo" of a sort, he has always found a way to worm the phrase into everything he has done. PS: 12:38 the man getting hit by the car and launched through the glass pane is John Landis himself.

I heard Thriller at a buddy of mine. The Vincent speech scared the crap out of me. Then, later, I saw Thriller on MTV in heavy rotation. Oh, those were the days.

In the pre-sell through movie days, this was for several years the biggest selling VHS tape, eventually being beaten by Disney when they released The Little Mermaid. Weirdly enough I remember seeing this for sale on Betamax too.

No,no,no,Thriller didn't launch MJ into stardom,he was already a star from the age of 5 yrs old. No,Thriller...or as Brits and Aussies say it..Thrillah(HA!You know that's true!,Haha!)actually launched MJ into music God Hood. Many other artists can and have as much as MJ has but none can even approach the level of outside the box thinking and creativity(YES! I am a MJ fan) that he had when he was popular and even after words too.

Judge......you don't know what the hell you're talking about. The Jackson Five were so damn huge that in 1999 at a Godsmack concert, while the roadie set things up for Godsmack after the opening act, the house music was playing and on came ABC by The Jackson Five. It was a testament to Michael Jackson that this arena full of metalheads sang along to ABC.

"Thriller" was not the first music video to be shown in theatres. The music video for "Ego", a little-known single by Elton John, was shown in select theatres in 1978, though given that it was only a four-minute clip, and Elton's star was on the wane at that time, there was little public appetite for it. There may be other music videos that have been shown in theatres before "Thriller", but that's the only one I know of. Interestingly, "Ego" was the most expensive video clip made at the time of its release, at around $40,000. Obviously, that's been blown out of the water many times since then, but it was seen as extravagant at the time.

I love this video! As kids we would play thriller and act out scenes from it. Good times. Thanks for the double dose today.great work as always. Edit; also, being the huge horror fan that I am, I knew it was price in the song even as a 9 year old or 11 or how ever old I was. One of my favorite horror actors ever. Price, Cushing, Lee. Ah. Memories 🎶

I remember as a child I was a big fan of MJ. Now I barely listen to his music I don't hate his music or because I'm a teen I just get distracted to other music.
