Monster Max is definitely a Rare and Ultimate game I have never heard of before. I do know of the obscure Sneaky Snakes which was a sequel to Snake Rattle N Roll, although not nearly as high quality as that game. Monster Max is a decidedly British game for sure just like the games that inspired it.

I owned a Gameboy but preferred the Super Gameboy. You could change the background and colours, and play on a TV. My favourite handheld was the Lynx.

I very nearly included that actually! It was probably my 11th pick. I am planning to do a "More Great Exclusives" series, so that will make it then.

Ah, what a shitbag. Somebody stole a ZX Spectrum game out of my locker when I was at school, later found out it was one of my best friends and he would never admit it was him.

I was always a fan of Super Mario Land 2: The Six Golden Coins. When I was a child, it was always a game that was difficult to complete, because gathering a coin or two was easy enough, but keeping all six to face Wario was a challenge, as you lose all coins at the game over screen. It may be easier as an adult, and I should revisit this game to find out. Any of the Final Fantasy games for the Gameboy were solid RPGs. Final Fantasy Adventure in North America, released as Mystic Quest in Europe began the Mana series, but did eventually get an enhanced remake for the GBA as Sword of Mana. The Final Fantasy Legend games, that never made it to Europe, were in fact early entries in the SaGa series, and never remade or ported to my knowledge. I am compelled to also mention Metroid 2: The Return of Samus. The game did have an official enhanced remake for the 3DS titled Metroid: Samus Returns, as well as an unofficial fan remake for PC titled Another Metroid 2 Remake or AM2R, however, each of these games are uniquely different from each other, much like how Metroid Zero Mission is a different enough game from the original NES Metroid that it serves as a remake of. Metroid 2 did a lot to improve the exploration of the world that frustrated many that played the original game, but did offer a game that felt a bit more linear in the process. The game was a bit more zoomed in due to the screen limitations, but many appreciate this due to the horror atmosphere the series is supposed to exhibit, leaving a slightly claustrophobic experience. Definitely not the best in the series, but it did help set the stage for Super Metroid, arguably the greatest game in the series, and to some the greatest game of all time.

I'm not a fan of platformers or RPGs so those weren't really on my radar, but thanks for adding such detailed suggestions and adding to the discussion!

I'd always faver F1-Race over Wave Race. Fast, challenging and also multiplayer, simple but addictive.
@TheLairdsLair3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but F1 Race isn't an exclusive, it was also on the NES.

Quite a few 'Hidden Gems' there that I recognise...
