Yes, Reki Kawahara is the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World. I have Lumine and Barbara and I love them. They are cute and great for the price. :3 The figure I deeply regretted purchasing is the 1/7 scale of Lyn, who happened to be my favourite character in the Fire Emblem franchise. I shared my disappointment several times in the past so I will refrain from restating my opinion. She was released during the pandemic and I believe it had an impact on her quality. GSC was kind enough to replace the entire figure for me due to the countless paint issues, but her overall lack of quality and the blatant misrepresentation in the prototype photos is something I will never forget. Yes, I still have her in my collection.

Not only did the author of SAO also writes Accel World, but Accel World is supposedly the sequel to SAO, set 20 years after events of SAO. Both Light Novel series also have been referencing each other for the last few years now too, slowly revealing a possible future for them as they mention the VR technology that SAO Alicization introduced. Surprised that they haven't done anything else with the AW anime (besides a movie back in 2016 & that AW vs. SAO game in 2017 or 2018), but I guess Silver Link wants to do other projects instead & SAO has been getting milked way more than it should. And speaking of SAO, I still have SAO 2 figures from my collection that I've regretted buying. Both of them I got from Amazon & they're both Yui figures. The 1st one was the Asuna & Yui figure from Penguin Parade that I got for $30. Apparently, I got a counterfeit version due to the figure having some wrong colors & pieces missing. The other figure I regret buying was the Yui Noodles Stopper. I really like it, but she doesn't stay in place well enough & her wings weren't included in her box.

I like Barbara but I understand that she is not popular because of meta, playstyle, design. Also interesting to know why Samurai Girls is how it is because I saw a friend selling them for $50 each. One mistake I made was feeling pressured to buy something at Akiba, so I ended up buying some Genshin and Star Rail mini figures. At least there was no shipping, tax, and the JPY to USD exchange rate is excellent. A side effect is that I can probably fit at most one scale figure now, but i don't have that much space at home so it may be for the best.

Love your content. I have and love that Kurenaino Aria, although I display her without the jacket. I also have that Kasumigaoka Utaha (she's my best girl), but yeah, that one isn't great.

My Dark Olivia has the same issue, I have her leaning in a corner, she's still one of my favorite figures. To the point I'm gonna finally pair her with Forte The Devoted which will be re-released. Dark Olivia wasn't cheap at the time for me, so seing the price of Forte The Devoted now seems like an abosulute bargain.

Aha, good spotting. Yes i have 2 units, the one i showed you in box is from amiami, the one behind me is from China. Both are genuine figures yet they are not exactly the same thing. That's a story for another day, there's a longer history behind that figure.

The most interesting part about Hyakka Ryouran figures is that while ALTER series is loaded for sell in the market, other brand like HobbyJapan/AmiAmi line straight up impossible to find. I've been searching for that specific Sanada Yukimura and just can't seem to find it anymore

Yes, the Hobby Japan Exclusives are pretty rare. Sanada is one of them, so is Uesugi Kagekatsu.

My biggest regret is pre-ordering the Astrum design Halloween succubus. She looked absolutely fabulous on the promotional pictures, but it was all decieving lighting and camera work. I haven't recieved mine yet but she looks very off and ugly in other peoples photos, and cheap when you take into the consideration the hefty price they charged for her. The deluxe version was 32500¥ before tax, which is the version I went for. I thought Astrum design would deliver since their previous figures have looked fine, but ultimately I made a gamble and lost big time. I will let her be sent back, or try to sell her (which probably wont be easy since she's beginning to bargain bin), because I lost all love for her unfortunately.

That is interesting, because Astrum design has released so many good figures. With the Halloween one i suppose i need to see it in person. I personally don't trust user photos that much either because the images coming from smartphones either had bad white balance, color shift, or is completely distorted by a wide angle lens on these phones.

No so far. Just 3 years into collection. Reason probably because the rise of CC like u guys, I manage to make decision very wisely atm. Also not really an impulsive buyer, generally takes me 1-2 months to properly decide to get a certain figure or not haha. Fellow Malaysian here btw!

My biggest regret is my pop up chocola mainly since I paid a bit too much for it, and still only finished vol 0 up to this day. I have a bootleg 1/4 Lucy (Fairy tail) that falls off the base, but that one I like still since the face and form were great.

I could at least keep her together just because of the way it sat...but she did not stick together. 20:07 I am losing my mind that there is not a Kokomi figure from Genshin impact. FavorGK has like 90% of every female character but for SOME reason she just gets skipped over and she is by far my favorite character in the game. I am a huge mermaid fan and she is as close as you can get...but no one makes her figure. D:

Do you mean a licensed one? Because unlicensed ones exist. As for a licensed one, she will probably get one eventually. the way they choose which ones get made seems to be pretty random and not really following any rhyme or reason. But as a female character, she has a better chance than many male ones.

I recently started collecting anime figures, and the main rule I have is to make sure it is something that won't lean after time considering the climate of where I live. If it's standing on one leg, NOPE. If it's pose is already leaning or posed at an odd angle, NOPE.

I've some figures I bought purely from FOMO. Many of them, especially those in 1/8 scale, were disappointing since I didn't think they would be that small. For example: Luo Tianyi Grain in Ear Ver., She was so small I could not appreciate her as much as I was hoping for. It'd took me a lot of push now when I see "1/8" in the tile. The worst one I had so far was Chizuru Mizuhara China Dress ver.. The promotion picture was great, but when I got her..... the face were off in whatever angles, and the scale did not matched to the others at all. It's now put back into the box, without much hope to be sold (maybe possible if I price her at 50-60% discounts) A few other disappointments are those released many many years ago with lower quality and smaller scale. I bought them 2nd hands so it didn't cost much. Still, it sting a bit when I think about the amount of money I spent on those, which didn't spark joy at all. I've learnt to start a list of figures I want to buy, and the grail I'm looking for. I leave them there until the last day to decide If I really want them. (the problem are those 2nd hand figures randomly popup in the market, which has only a few days for decision.)

To me scales can be really deceiving. I have had 1/7 scales that are as smaller as 1/8 (Master Artoria by alter) or even as big as 1/6 (black / purple heart, Jeanne alter, nanona figures by alter). It feels like scale is just a random number and you will only see consistency across figures meant to be a set together.

I recently saw on AmiAmi that they are rereleasing Forte after all these years. Maybe they will rerelease Dark Olivia with the issue fixed because it is a very nice looking figure even by today’s standards.

Probably my biggest regret purchase was Shelicernes Zarbach from 'Ma ga Ochiru Yoru Demonic Princess' 1/8 (Orchid Seed). I really like the character design but the quality is just 'meh' and the wiry tail looking really janky, along with the extended fingernails option not properly plugging into place just made her frustrating to put together. She also wasn't cheap. The wings and her hair are nice but that's about it.

Wow that is a really old figure. If i look at something that old that i think i should have mentioned Yamato's Ignis in the video too. I own a few Orchid Seed figures, mainly Sonico and Alleyne from Queens Blade and they are really well made. In fact, when it specifically comes to the character Sonico, Orchid Seed was always the first brand I went for first.

@@EXkurogane I have Orchid Seed's Ignis (Nimbus of Eternal Night vers) and she's fantastic, still holds up as a quality scale today. Alleyne is bae. I have her Griffon R Line figure, one of the few Griffon figs that turned out really nice. Magnetic cast-off no less.

I didn't keep track on the numbers but it is not as many as you think, because at least 30% of everything i owned had been sold off because of a lack of space. I have been collecting for at least 15 years after all.

I was definitely disappointed by Megahouse's Faye Valentine. She had nothing special and was ruined by its way too small size (exactly the same problem you had with that manufacturer). Megahouse are now on my blacklist because of how tiny (and smaller than advertised) their figures are. I finally managed to sell her at a small loss and she took 2 years to sell!

@@EXkurogane I bet you can find some related to Garage Kit figures which are usually resin. PVC is going to be super soft and easy to drill through for sure. I think it would be more of a practice makes perfect kind of thing. The hardest thing I can think of is more of how to hold it properly when drilling, and re bend pieces that may have distorted over time. I'd probably use my dremel tool for the drilling part though :3

I always consider these things when I buy anime figure 1. Always buy what you need not what you want 2. Avoid Fate [I just hate it but the figures are nice] 3. Avoid seasonal anime especially if it will not be popular in the long run 4. Don't buy everything as space will be an issue for me in the future 5. Avoid l ewd/ hen tie figures 6. Avoid Bunny Figures because cooler looking figures are way more worth it than bunny figures. 7. Buy figures with a great/cool looking base 8. Avoid Miku 9. Buy figures of characters that are from a game because they are always better than average, especially the details 10. Avoid figures with a unique pose as they will fail in the long run but again it depends on the pose.
