The regular cover bands at weekends and pianists at lunch and blues / country / gospel on Wed and Thurs got paid directly by the pub. The 2 jazz clubs on Mon and Tues got paid by the respective club / society (different types of jazz, different club / day) from door takings from the cover charge the clubs collected. Sadly, that pub was bought by a supermarket chain for the bottle shop (aka off licence or liquor store) that was attached to it and now it is no longer a live venue. There are fewer and fewer left.

OMG, OMG, number 6 is me!!!!!!!!!! I am a late beginner and It is so frustrating that when I am at home playing I play so much better than when I take make bass out to show family and friends what I learned then I am all thumbs!! You know you sound bad when people say to you after you played "Keep it up, you'll get there" or " That's not to bad for a beginner keep practicing". Just recently Learned "Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. This is the most beginner friendly song ever created and the bassline carries the song and it rocks! I totally blew my "look what I learned" moment by messing it up in front of my family. How could I blow Seven Nation Army though???

Can't relate, never owned a bass. Just a guitar. And a viola. And a lot of violins. Edit: I had to delete my comment due to a spambot. 21st Century technology is weird.

You should just be able to type the names followed by # or b if it's sharp or flat, by the way, how's your pizzicato going?

@@deimos351 Tech tip appreciated. My pizz? Only the fastest as usual. I had to re-train my fingers because I haven't used them in a while *ahem*.

There is a solution to #7. Go wireless. I got a set up on amazon for 40 bucks, no more buzz, no more tangle, and I was even able to play on the 3rd floor of a building with the amp on the first floor without losing connection. I think the ones I have are lekato brand. Get the higher frequency ones as those waves are less interupted, but I've never had interuption problems.

I used to excoriate bassists who refused to change their strings. Then I bought a bass of my own. I've boiled its current set of strings three times now.

I remember buying my first set of bass strings as a guitarist who had been buying $4-5 packs of ernie balls... My heart dropped as soon as I clicked on the amazon link 😭

Nice kame-hame-ah with Davie 503, but I'm sure it isn't enough to stop him. Anyway U got great tapping skills. You should try to play on my limited fener bullet with Seymour Duncan [MM] electronic. It's fast, loud and really lovely sound. Hope U doing well. Keep going. Happy new year 🎉

The slapping "hurts" is definetly what I went through when learning slap for the first time. I even ended up with blisters

I am watching this an hour late, on a sound system, because your bass tones deserve far better than phone speakers.
