To anyone on the fence about the course...just go for it. Fusion looked like an entirely foreign language to me, then i took the course and took off modeling. Now i model everything i can think of. I need to learn more to REALLY fine tune, but Bill teaches you enough to take off.

I already have the video course. It's a series of overview videos, and then three interesting projects that progress in complexity. Really accessible intro to CAD and well worth the very reasonable price.

I also highly recommend the course. Even as someone already familiar with Fusion 360, I still found the course beneficial because Bill takes you through the modeling process of a prop instead of say a bookcase or a desk. Very helpful with visualization!

I was taught how to use Sketchup in first year of middle school, about 14 years ago and I've been using it ever since. I did try my hand at Blender, with very few successes (I find the software interface way to overcomplicated) and I've been using Fusion 360 every once in a while for the past 5 years when I need to do things I can't do in Sketchup. I really like Fusion 360, the interface is very intuitive, like Sketchup, but has so many more options.

Does fusion360 let you preserve “line thickness” when you scale objects down, or to at least redo it to a thickness? I’ve noticed on things I 3d print, scaling down is an issue because the lines and details that still appear it a slicer preview disappear or aren’t translated to the actual object because when you scale down, it reduces line thickness as well to the point you need either a tiny nozzle or it’s impossible to get outside of like a resin printer. Is this something you can use fusion360 to define and/or possibly fix when you scale objects and details down?
@punishedprops8 ай бұрын
In Fusion 360, there's a system called Constraints. If your sketch has constraints, changing a number will update all the relationships. It's a rabbit hole for sure, and I don't use them much, but I imagine machinists use constraints so they can change scale and keep relationships the same. Here's some basics: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJCVeplrr7ujbpYsi=iaEXolm5noIA-kP7

I’m really interested in this but am concerned whether the free version of Fusion 360 gives access to all the features needed. Their website is a little cryptic about it and suggests there are limited features but as I am not familiar with this sort of software, I don’t know what it means. Does anyone know what the deal is?

I used to love using Fusion 360 years ago, but then they put the ability to export files for printing behind a paywall and I couldn't use it anymore. It was super sad.
@missnikin8 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure this isn't the case for fusion 360 for personal use. Unless you are planning on doing commercial work, you can export as stl, obj, step, etc for free.
@punishedprops8 ай бұрын
As far as I’m aware, the free version of Fusion still allows you to export STLs for printing.
