Great video as usual. I have to wonder how close Raw Power, Houses of the Holy and even Sabbath Bloody Sabbath were to cracking your top ten? Cheers from Ohio 🍻

The album I had trouble leaving off was Billion Dollar Babies. When I first started pulling records for this video I was sure Raw Power would make the list. Quite frankly that album is a mess. Houses Of The Holy has some great songs but also some that I never liked.

Wow the more I look into the albums released in the early 70’s the more I’m convinced this was an amazing era in music! And your list just solidifies that fact! This was a “fantastic” list So many genres covered here which in my book is impressive in itself! I love that your taste in music goes far beyond your first love punk music This was awesome! I should have my tops of 73 up soon as I spent all last weekend rocking out to potential entries! Great stuff Rich! Peace ☮️✌️👽🤘☮️

1973 was for me ,clearly when rock was changing, now i can,t fault your picks because they are yours, but burnin by BOB MARLEY, Roxy Music, standed, the who,ect ,actually a lot of music that year was wonderful,The Dolls,i did see a couple times during the release of first album which i did love, but when i saw them several months later at a RODNEY Bingenheimers palladium show, with GTO.s,Zolar X,ect the Dolls headlined and tore that place apart, their 2nd album had come out ,they did thr cadets hit Stranded in the jungle,it was epic,i saw it in my mind earlier today when i listened to the Cadets original in my car, you said you never saw them so i can say you would have loved it.i also saw terry reid, had bought his early albums and loved him,and still think he had it all looks, talent just a real star who has never been fully recognized. also luv your zappa tee shirt,i want one haha someday if we should meet i.ll tell you of my impression of Zappa the first time i saw him ,he wasn;t playing it was at the whiskey one night,he was crazy, also my friend who,s hair i used to cut had thanksgiving dinner at zappas house with her boyfriend (a guitarist)and his family, another off beat affair not his family him haha -anyway 1973 is cinsidered one great music year, and you proved that.Good luck with 1974,-RSD coming not sure if i,m going or not🤔 stay safe always👍

Man, these years are always going to be hard... I'd put DSOTM at no. 1 just for its impact and how it shaped and formed the album format as we know it. Other albums in my top 5 would be: Elton with GYBR, Stevie with Innervisons, Herbie with HH, Sly (getting out of the sludginess of Riot, but still retaining his funky abilities) with Fresh, McCartney and Wings solidifying his reputation as a master of songs with Band on the Run. Shoutouts to Tubular Bells and Queen's debut record! Both excellent first efforts. Love your picks too, need to check out more early Weather Report for sure.

Another great line up. Not familiar with them all but most. Headhunter is one of my lifetime favorites. I also think that AS was one of Bowie’s best. And, of course, numero uno is the ultimate number one. After 1973, to me, there began a difficult period in the 70s when rock was all but lost unless you knew where to look for it. Punk changed all that. Too bad we can’t have another revolution like that now…

Finally getting to play catch up on your videos. I can dig every one of the records you chose for 1973. I don't think that people (mostly dedicated Jazz people) take that Headhunters album serious enough. Charlie Rich album - one of my favorite country albums of all time. Anything out of Stevie Wonder's Spiritual/Psychedelic classic period is pretty flawless in my opinion. I think a lot of people tend to have that "fake elitist" mindset against Darkside of the Moon because it's become overtly popular... I've always told people like that "If you can listen to this record and call it overrated, or, played-out, etc, etc, then you know nothing about, nor have you any business listening to music".

The Herbie and Stevie are really strong albums. Would be in my '73 list too probably. Trash is my fave song on that Dolls album. Ive been thinking about getting some glam years Bowie soon. Reading a book on how the glam scene influenced LA and NY punk scenes. I've tried Weather Report but found they were too inconsistent / hit and miss for me. Sometimes too cheesy. On 20 January, outside the Capitol Dome, President Nixon took his second solemn oath of office, swearing to uphold the Constitution, protect it safe as houses, and so on and so forth…" That put a new slant on 4:00 Charlie Rich's 'Behind Closed Doors'.
