We need to consider a law in which it's illegal to have a dog if you don't have a yard. It's like keeping them locked up in a prison all day. It's not natural for them to stay cooped up. They should have access to the outside whenever they would like it via a doggy door to the backyard. Please no dogs in apartments. They deserve to be able to run around free in a yard.

I live in an apartment with a German Shepherd dog. We walk five 5 miles everyday and go on hikes (10-12 miles) over the weekends. I love GSDs, can never get any other breed. You can have any dog in an apartment as long you train them and provide enough mental stimulation and physical exercise. When it rains outside, we practice scent work inside our apartment.

My Yorkie is used to being in an apartment. He does bark, but we taught him not to do so excessively, and a sharp reprimand is enough to get him to shush. I do think it all boils down to proper training and the fact that while every breed has distinct characteristics, there’s also great variation within those. All dogs deserve to be loved!

My dog is a Cairn Terrier mix, only 6 lbs, and a very calm girl. She's the perfect dog in the world. I've never trained her, yet she learned to be potty trained extremely easily on her own, doesn't ever rip or bite anything, is extremely sweet and never aggressive, and she loves to cuddle. Idk what I'd do without my baby Bambi❣

I live in an apartment and I have a Papillon, they are a great little breed as they can happily live in small spaces. I also live within walking distance of a great park so she easily gets the chance to run around outside regularly. This breed is intelligent and alert, so will bark if they hear noises, however they are not generally yappy and are good companion/lap dogs.

I live in an apartment and I have a standard schnauzer, he is doing just fine :) we go out for walks and play outside, even in the snow, and we can also play tug and fetch indoors, he also likes to sit on my table on the balcony and watch the world go by below :)

Schnauzers are quite good companions. Mine is a miniature and is quite vocal with outsiders, far from perfect for an apartment. Nonetheless, she's actually very sweet and loyal within our family. Exercise makes a huge difference tho, you don't want and over energetic schnauzer in your house. Trust me, they'll make themselves noticed.

I’m glad they included huskies because many places are banning them. But my husky loves apartment living. They just need a place to run nearby and proper training. Mine definitely sleeps at least 22 hours a day and runs for 1 and then eats and looks around aimlessly for the last hour. My Pomeranian wants to run and play all day.

I have a Yorkie and she is vERY vocal when people and/or other dogs are out and about, but quiet when things are calm. She's a very good alert dog. I struggle with anxiety and paranoid thoughts, especially at night, and knowing that my dog is calm reassures me that I'm safe and helps me calm down so I can sleep. She's only good around small dogs around her size and ironically, she's fine with cats, we have a cat and she's fine with him.

I have a pug and a yorkie. Since the pug is 4 years older, the yorkie learned her behaviour from the pug, so she's reasonably quiet, loves naps and cuddling, pretty chill dog. The yorkie is still way more energetic than the pug tho.

If you're Indian, I'd recommend Indian dogs. They're medium sized, they don't have too much energy and are very low maintenance - great for apartments. I have one rescue dog and he's the best! Also, PRO TIP: if you have a rescue, vets and every pet store will give you discounts. Just grab one off the street - perfect companion (on a budget!)

I have a Boston Terrier rescued dog and he’s great living in the apartment. He doesn’t bark unless he thinks there’s an intruder. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend was working from home when my dog suddenly started barking incessantly at the door. That’s how he found out someone is trying to break into our apartment and he pushed the door ASAP, locked it again and called the police. Luckily for the intruder, the dog just save him because my boyfriend could’ve shot him and he had every right to do so. So, Boston Terriers are great too! Btw, they love to cuddle too!

I have to agree to some extend. I had a chihuahua an a cavalier living with me in manhattan 680 square feet( that is big for nyc) and they do okay. Once i move to seattle and sold my condo for a house , went to 2400 square feet they are alot happier. I still don't have much out door space since seattle is pretty expensive in my area but just more room alone made my dog alot happier. Was my dog sad before he moved nah, but he is alot happier now.

Been living with dogs in various houses and apartments over the years and can't agree. My current, very small apartment, is ironically the one where my dogs were the happiest, because I happen to have more time with my current situation (University) than I had before. The question is always, how much time do you spend at home. If you're outside with your dogs all the time anyways, the size of the apartment and whether there is a garden makes no difference.

french bull dog have many health issues if you are going to buy frenchie make sure you buy pet insurance or have a fund. It cost 1k a night at ER easily, dogs can be just as expensive as human. Spent over 10k saving my dogs in ER.

Size of apartment doesn't matter. My current apartment is only 24 square meters and I keep a frickin Husky in it... and the dog's never been happier. The question is, where do you spend your time? If you're outside with the dog all the time anyways and can take him to most places you go, the dog only being at home for sleeping and eating, the size of the apartment doesn't matter.

I also give her cbd drops twice a day. I have the most chill border collie ever. Not all BC are the same. everyone tried to scare me saying a BC would never be happy in a small studio. That is ALL she has ever known. Very quiet ,calm chill puppy. knock on wood
