I really mean this in the nicest possible way but new mums, do your research on the doona. It’s obviously very very easy but in terms of safety testing, it does not perform well in crash tests. I won’t go into more detail. Do your own research xx

Came here to say this, babies should only be in car seats for up to 45mins each time (don’t hold me to it lol). I wanted one but wouldn’t for safety risks x
@scarlettb562 Жыл бұрын
@@Leahhannah_ it’s not even just this, which goes without saying. It’s the actual crash test results that are poor.

Yes you are right. I also would not let my child nap in one as it’s supposed to be bad for their spine. Of course the random long journey here and there but I always used a bassinet attachment. To be honest unsafe products should have to make it known as it’s for a baby.
@1988laurennicole Жыл бұрын
I don’t know where you get your information from as I have read the British safety standards on the doona and other car seats and it’s rated as good. Not the best. But also not the worst. Average (average in car seat safety by the way it’s that it’s got very good protection in a crash and has good safety features for baby) it scores higher than maxi cosi which is the number 1 selling car seat in the UK. Sometimes I feel like these comments are totally judgemental and mum shaming and quite ill-informed also! I have 3 children. I’ve had many different car seats, including a doona. Doona is great especially on the school run, obviously use common sense and don’t leave your baby in there for hours. But most mums pop their infant car seat on their stroller anyway on school run etc so actually no difference whatsoever to using a doona…. They are expensive which is why I think quite a few people are negative about them because they are not affordable to a lot of people but I have loved ours, my son loves it, my children love being able to push him to the car from the front door which has massively helped my back as I’m not lifting a hugely heavy seat all the time and I would 100% recommend to family and friends 😊
@lilymcmanaway Жыл бұрын
@@1988laurennicolewell regardless of these points the doona only lasts you until baby outgrows the capsule, then you have to buy a completely new stroller….and the doona costs you an absolute arm and a leg in the first place

I totally agree the Hakkaa is AMAZING!! I love it more than pumping to catch letdown. The prep machine is fantastic I used it with my first and breast and sometimes formula for my 3rd! Xx

Just make sure your following the correct cleaning and descaling for your milk machine tommi tippie just like a coffee machine you can get scale and mould so do not skip cleaning

When you store your milk, freeze it flat between two cookie sheets. This is my fav hack for pumping. I always stored 4oz in each bag and froze flat, then once frozen, just stacked them.

I thought it wasn’t safe for babies to stay in carseats for more than 2 hours or for sleep due to positional asphyxiation? I don’t understand the doona because it seems like it would encourage you to leave the baby in that position for long periods?

I'm currently 40+5 waiting to meet our baby boy ♥We got the Najell sleep nest carrier after seeing it on your channel and doing a bit of research. The thing I liked the most about it is that it's safety tested by cot standards. Although they obviously have to still be supervised, we felt like we will have have more peace of mind using that one rather than a cheaper one without the firm base and testing x

My baby hates doona and I don’t like that I can’t put him in while the seat is in the car coz it doesn’t spin and I can’t lift him with it coz I’m after c section. Also the najell carrier he bloody hates coz in summer it’s hot and uncomfortable, very rough fabric that rubs his legs. Oh and it doesn’t tie tight enough at the top if you petite . The najell sleep carrier lasted me 2 weeks and also doesn’t seem too light of safe after c section.

The baby nest looks amazing, but I already have a Moses basket that I can carry around everywhere and I'm unsure whether that nest would offer any additional benefits? It's so expensive😔😬
@HomeWithShan Жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t know as I’ve never had a Moses basket myself, but it sounds like it sort of does the same thing maybe - I just know that I wouldn’t be without the carry sleep nest in our house 🙈 I probably would have both though! Xxx
@monica4791 Жыл бұрын
The moses basket does the same job. I have one and it works in the exact same way as the nest carrier...you put the baby in it to sleep and then you can carry the baby around the house.
@Tariachan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the replies! For anyone else wondering this, a Moses basket is a lot more affordable, just in case you're on a budget!
@monica4791 Жыл бұрын
£170 for a sleep nest carrier 😐 the power of marketing these days. I have a moses basket which was £50 and has handles so I can carry it around the house with the baby in it. I don't know why anyone needs to spend hunderds of pounds for the latest creation of the same old thing.

Thanks Shan, your recommendations are so helpful! Do you have the isofix for the Doona? Considering getting one not sure if it’s a faff to secure in the car without an isofix? Thanks!
@sarahroberts7374 Жыл бұрын
My Mum said it's quite simple to just do it with the seatbelt (we got the isofix as well but she wanted to test out the seatbelt method) and she said it was alot simpler than the car seat we used for first baby x I haven't tried it out yet as all the stuff is still in my Mums as I'm not due for another 5 weeks

I’m gonna be controversial but I don’t like the mam bottles. The amount tests that have split on us and we’ve had to buy more is ridiculous I would go for tommee tippee (my opinion) and cold water steriliser x

Aw this sucks! We LOVED the mam bottles! Not needing a huge steriliser sitting out in the kitchen was a win, and the cleaning / stacking for microwave process became instinct. I don’t remember leaks, maybe you had some bad luck!

I’m considering the baby nest! We are going to a family wedding 4 weeks after baby comes 😅 and I’m wondering is this appropriate to use at night instead of taking his entire next to me with us? No idea if we’ll be cosleeping or not - I know you can use it in bed with you, but wondering if it works on the floor beside us, or is the mattress like only good enough for day naps? x
@xanthehicks7013 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure it’s safe for unsupervised sleep. The lullaby trust advises against ALL baby nests for sleep unless you’re awake and watching them x

Purflo have a sleep safe nest I would check that out! If your pram bassinet is sleep safe then that’s a great option for overnight stays
