As a 12 year in the 1980's we played on the full sized field. I was the goal kicker for my team and on the siren we scored just inside the touch line to draw the game 20 ALL. It was a rainy day & the ball we used was a leather brick. I remember putting the ball just inside the sideline & 20 meter line. I clearly remember parents behind me laughing and saying "He will never kick that" Well I lined it up and smacked that ball, dead straight it crossed the black dot & we won the game 22 - 20. Highlight of my junior rugby league life. All those years practicing with my Dad since I was 5 payed off. 35 years on still a great memory :-)

El Masri was a beast I regard him the best ever goal kicker if he played as many seasons as cam smith he definitely would be highest point scorer of all time and he could score tries as well ,number 1 in my opinion And a very humble guy He was the goat

Well said. Cam Smith played 113 more games which is close to 5 seasons in the bye days. Also El Masri didn't kick goals for his first 3 seasons because Daryl Halligan was at the Dogs. El Masri was a point scoring machine. Not only the greatest goal kicker but scored 159 tries.

Hasim was a goalkicking legend - no doubt. But the greatest kick to win a game was definitely O'Connor in the State of Origin. Everything was against him kicking that - the rain, the waterlogged ball, the wrong side of the field, the pressure. With all the highlights from Origin over the years, the fact that this single goal kick is always mentioned among them, is testament to the fact that it was the greatest last minute winning goal kick ever.
