It's funny, I've spent 3 years out of school at this point, yet your studying videos really inspire me to keep learning. That's one big life lesson that I have loved learning; education does not hold itself to a building. You can learn from any and every experience you have in life, learning doesn't need a school system to educate you. ❤

Giving it time, going out with friends, doing the things your ex didn't like but you did if there's anything (for me it was f.e. dresses and perfume) and dating apps helped me ❤ also listing all the reasons its better that you're not together with that person anymore!! It's better to have a large list of it than have it in your head. When I was ready I also made a list of the things I did miss, and the good thing about it (also made me cry but I'm glad I did it) is that it put into perspective the fact that a lot of things you can perhaps find with someone else some day, and for me, this list was shorter than the bad list.. I failed my studies because of how traumatic my breakup was, but it also brought me SO much! And I'm going to study something that suits me better. It has been 7 months since my relationship turned toxic, and 6 months since my ex dumped me. For almost 4 months we were in a situationship where I treated him like an enemy because he broke my heart, and though I was happy with getting to sometimes act like we were still together, being cut off because my ex had a new gf brought another wave of sadness. Maybe it is better to let go quicker.. Removing traces of my ex helped, every few weeks I was able to discard of more physical memories of him. I am so happy to say I am coping much better and often don't think about him for long periods of time. I don't want to get back together. I rejected guys because I need to be single now, try not to break hearts, but accidentally breaking one of their hearts helped me understand my ex. Get to the root of your emotional stress. Other women in my life helped a lot, (some saw me and unexpectedly gave me peptalks, I think about them a lot!) and hearing other people's stories. Be your own best friend. ❤

I swear by the staggered flashcards! It’s literally got me through my ATAR courses so far, and it’s so much less daunting to get to studying for exams and have a semester’s or year’s worth of content already curated into digestible sections! I study Psychology and history so lots of memorising events, definitions, parts of the brain etc.!

I just want to thank you so much for this. This is my last year in the Mittelstufe (kind of like the german middle school). At the end of this year I have one exam in each of the main classes. They count as 50% of my grade and will decide if I pass the school year. This is very overwhelming considering that usually we write two to three exams in half a year and they together decide 50% of our grades. So I wanna do extra good this year. Even though I just discovered your channel today and my school year is starting tomorrow I know that your channel is going to help me stay motivated and disciplined. That way I can get better grades and will hopefully crsh this school year. Thank you for making this amazing content and good luck in the new school year to everyone out there!❤️ ❤

Love your videos Ruby! I’d say that these are excellent tips for people who aren’t studying an academic course too, I was a textiles student myself but one thing that helped me at university was making the tasks that you don’t enjoy into something more fun, we had to document all our processes in a technical file which I always found so boring. But I set myself a schedule to update it every week on a Sunday and went out for breakfast before going to the library and having that routine made it one of my favourite things to do 😅

Hi Ruby, just a note that water doesn't transport oxygen to the brain - we breathe oxygen in from the air around us, which is absorbed into the blood. The blood is then transported to the brain, where the oxygen can be absorbed. It would actually be really bad if water were to enter the brain hahahaha 💗
@RubyGranger8

Oh dear! I meant because our blood is c50% water - I’ve read that dehydration prevents blood flow to the brain but I might be wrong so I’ll do more research!

Blood actually cannot touch the brain either! The blood goes into the “blood brain barrier” where Astrocytes and glial cells pull everything necessary for the brain into the brain and keep things like blood, water and bacteria out of it! It’s super interesting but definitely a complex concept.

Oh my gosh! The nostalgia feelings I got when you said “back to school”. This is actually the firts year I will not be going back to school - but am starting uni now so I will be a student but in a different way and in a way that will bring a lot more freedom in how I learn and also what I learn, which is exciting in itself. But omg I have been watching you since I was 10 and you were doing your GCSE’s and remember and still rewatch those back to school videos! And honestly the absolute comfort this video gave me! Also so so excited for this academic planner (maybe this year I will actually fully stick to it- because I find planning so so hard but I was more consistent last year with your planner than I have done). Also my sleep schedule is AWFUL, I am such a big night owl by nature and also find sleep hard if I try to sleep to early.

Can you make a video with even more suggestions about what to do in the summer? A lot of students do not have access to teachers to ask for resources to read before the semester begins, but they still may want to get ahead. There are a bunch of great ideas in this video which is absolutely incredible by the way but I do think it could be beneficial to expand and create a video specifically with things that can be done during the summer, rather than compared to only when the school year begins.

Something I will be doing is looking at the basic curriculum and prepare myself. It helps me not be hungry to learn, satisfy that craving, but also is great preparation. It also does not need to be an exactly perfect curriculum but even just something generic will be useful. If you do have access to educators in the summer asking them what resources would be useful to look over could be great, but most of us do not have that ability so this is the next best option life come up with. It also does not need to be long or intense sessions, half an hour every day still will be a lot especially if you do want to do something educational in the summer that still will be actually useful when the school year begins. I really hope this can help someone

Hi Ruby:), I just wanted to say that I love your videos and that they have helped me feel motivated and aspired. I am also very very exited for the new academic planner. I used to hate planning. It always made me more anxious and when I tried buying a planner I always abandoned it after a few days. However, I bought the academic planner last year and I have used it almost every day since I got it. It has actually been the thing that I have been exited to write in when I come home from school. It has made planning so easy and fun. Thank you so much Ruby:) P.s. I hope you feel well!

Hi Ruby, I watched a premiere of yours for the first time today and I really enjoyed it. I was the guy who suggested the "Uni-EDC" as a video idea when you asked for some video-suggestions. You asked what I meant by that so I quickly wanted to post my response as a comment here once again. I got a bit lost trying to follow the live-chat at the time. 😅 Generally, an EDC (every-day-carry) is the collection of useful items that a person carries every day, to complete certain tasks and/or to be prepared for certain events. A Uni-EDC would be that, just from the perspective of a Uni-student. I always found it interesting to see what other folks bring along for their academic days and it helped me to form my own little collection of useful items that come along everwhere I go. I made a video about my own Uni-EDC a couple of years ago and I always find it interesting to see how much it changed over the years. Now, that I am mid-way through my master's-degree it has become a lot more "streamlined". 😅 I have seen that you covered the topic in different videos before but maybe an updated version would be a nice thing to add to your channel. The abbreviation "EDC" might also help a lot of interested people to find that part of your content. :) Greetings from (also currently rainy) Cologne (Germany), Max

If you strugle with everyday drinking enough water, or you just don’t like the taste of water, add lemon (juice or pieces, whatever suits you), lime, orange, or some berries, herbs (mint and lemon balm are often) to add taste to the water. (And except the taste, you naturally add vitamins to your drink). :)

So excited for this back-to-school series! I am starting my teaching practicum in September before completing my degree in the winter term. This time around I'm taking notes of your tips not for myself but for my students; strange but fun.

Thank you for going above and beyond for your students. I cannot imagine being a student, arriving on my first day of school, and having a teacher who provides a study skills. I’ve had great teachers in my life, educated to truly have made a difference but I’ve never had one who teaches us how to study. I mean it is a big deal, if you do not know how to study properly you are going to get into so many issues. Of course trial and error is a part of the process, everyone is going to have to deal with it at some level but having a teacher ready to guide you with practical achievable tips is just the next level. Most likely I will not be one of your students, but on behalf of everyone of your future students who did not have the courage to come up and say thank you directly to your face, I will say it for all of them right now.😂 You so much for going above and beyond to help your students.

As a student I probably did stay up late pretty regularly, i got lucky and had no lessons the day after the usual night out. I was younger then, it would knock me off for longer now.

I'm entering my last year of undergrad and want to make most of it (mainly because it offers a lot of subjects of choice), I will have to write bachelor's research (and probably go on abroad research trip for that), I also have a job, so it's a lot to manage. Thank you for your great advice and sharing motivation before the upcoming academic year.
