In year 9 of secondary, I discovered that I had always associated a colour with a subject and, when I started my GCSEs, it was so much easier to just write all my notes with shades of that colour and black and I’d bring that colour to the exam as a highlighter and it would jog my memory. I plan to do this for my actual GCSE exams this year. Let’s hope it works out for me and all those that want to try this! :)

@ameliapc39432 жыл бұрын
for sixth form I actually ended up with a day folder, a week folder and then subject folders. as someone who walks to school minimising what I carry is really important so I only bought what I needed which fit in quite a thin binder. this worked best for me but it means you need to be very organized in the evening otherwise you might forget work. every week or two I would put stuff in my subject ones

I am very glad that you still make content about studying! You warm up my study-lover heart! I really liked the video ! I'll share my experience with planning & organization because maybe some people will relate ? All of it is based on "I love the aesthetic but I know it will never work for me because my brain hates to do a lot of organization stuff every day/week" And globally organization is really personal : a good organization system is one that works well with your brain and that you can maintain in the long-term, even in the most hectic times, so maybe a more simple or different way of organizing can works better for you. I tend to use notebooks and not a big binder because I *know* I will never sort my notes into the right binders at home, and with notebooks I can just stock in there everything I need to the subject (including loose paper the professor hand us) and I can just grab it and go to class with it. Deciding how my notes will look like before i take them (on the notebook i have to choose on which page i write & stuff) works way better for me than after i take them (in a binder) Same thing with the planner, yours look really great but I just know my brain will explode with so many informations ! I just use a tiny weekly planner, because i don't like digital planners and if i don't write down everything i *will* plan two stuff at the same time and then have to cancel one of them, so yeah my tiny planner is my second brain and it needs to be tiny (A6) and light so i can carry it everywhere I really agree with "your notes don't have to be aesthetics" my notes look like one of a sixth-grader and it's the way I like because 1. I don't wanna use my pretty notebooks for school because I won't use it freely and 2. I don''t wanna spend time with cute decorations when I need to study Also professors usually love to talk about their subject and their course so they'll probably love explaining to you stuff you havent understood ! I love talking with my professors at the end of class So yeah this is a lot of words mainly to remind you that Ruby is a highly organized person (if you think about it this is kinda what she does for a living with her youtube channel ! even though she does a lot of other work for it too of course :) and you don't need to be *that* organized to be organized, and also every person works different and your brain probably won't like some of her advice, and like some of them !

It's so wild that school children these days have access to the specifications of their subject. In my day, we just ambled along with whatever teachers told us, hoping we'd remember it in exams, with no clue as to how things are structured or what's important and why. 😂 We didn't even have the internet at my house (and certainly not at school) so researching things was just not a thing.

Hello Ruby, it just occurred to me, during your writing year, if it fits with how you envision it, you might consider dedicating a few hours per week, attending a super interesting series of lectures/webinars or module in your field (either free or with fees). Especially something that is simultaneously inspiring and adds to your skills as a writer. For instance, paying to attend one postgraduate module at a nearby University 3 for hours per week or joining an authors' group where they meet up for mutual support while they go through the writing process...etc etc...
