I agree with your list, mostly, but you missed cruising the boat. Driving the boat around all the different obstacles and in and out of locks is the best fun of the canals for me. Never knowing what is going to develop and what challenges you are going to meet on the way is endlessly enjoyable.

I always found cruising the boat single handed to be rather hard work. Glorious at times though...

Hello, ahh this brings back memories!! Not just of your boating journey but of ours before we moved back to land. One I miss would be the boating comarderie and the chitchat at locks eith others along the canal path.... what are your plans for next half of the year, more walks or is there another DIY subject on the horizon? Hi Sue, I think about it often. But the time will have to be right - need to be free of other distractions and able to commit. However, I did by a few tickets for May's raffle so you never know...
