Honesty, Akhil was my classmate in school, and he was so damn good at cricket. People who've seen him play in Celebrity premier league know that for a fact. Me and all my friends at that time thought he would get into professional cricket instead of joining his family in acting biz. Sadly, he didn't. What we got is a mediocre actor instead of a brilliant cricketer. I wished people chose their professions based on their talent and passion rather than following their family's footsteps.

i was akhil's collegemate btw. Don't worry, he's a nepo star. Just like any other nepo star he can dance and maintains his body with steroids. That's enough to be an indian superstar. Back in mid & late 2000s my elder brother used to write blank disks on nero with pirated mp3 songs from songspk, djmaza, funmaza etc and used to sell em at a local cd renting store. Then the owner of that store used to attach paper covers on those cds. The covers had names such as pyar dj mohabbat😄. How come this turned into an actual movie name?😅

When will the industry realize that the main culprit is ticket prices. It takes around Rs. 2k-3k for a family to watch a movie, especially on weekends as the prices soar. Anybody will think multiple times before stepping into the theatre to spend that sum. Single screen culture should be saved!!

Akhil's grandfather Akkineni Nageshwara Rao established the first film studio in the Telugu speaking region - Hyderabad - and virtually saved the Telugu Film Industry after Andhra got separated from the erstwhile Madras state. And, here you have Akhil giving all time disasters right from the beginning of his career. The presence of OTT platforms is one of the biggest reasons for so many disasters and flops. Because now we have a choice that ohh this movie we'll watch on OTT. One can simply skip watching a movie on the big screen because we know that the movie will be available on OTT within a month. So now, we only want to experience spectacles like Pathaan, RRR and KGF Chapter 2 in theatres.

And 20 years back it was camera prints and in the next 20 years it will be something else. You can't blame ott for everything. If a movie is good, people are going to watch in the theaters. If it's mediocre or bad, people are going to skip. But anyway unlike old days camera prints, now the makers are getting money from ott and satellite contracts and are able to recover their losses to an extend.

Remakes, poor scripts and writers being second in importance has led Cinema to the downfall it experience today... Even Pathaan was a 'leave the mind' at home kind of movie. We need to put writes in to same limelight as actors then only we will get what we deserve. Hollywood writers have got it right... And we need that kind of treatment here too.

I remember my uncle saying why waste 500/- on a movie ticket when you can watch it almost for free in the ott a little later. I guess that's what most of the people ate thinking about, and unless you don't give the movie an edge that cannot be enjoyed on the small scree you cannot bring in footfalls to the theatre

I think one thing that often gets ignored in this conversation is the fact that post pandemic inflation has hit a lot of people very hard. They don't have the disposable income to watch any vaguely interesting film, and would much rather save up that money for a good, escapist experience every once in a while. Like the same is happening in Hollywood too - only big "event' films are working there, and mid-budget movies are not pulling in collections and consequently not being made too (or only being made for streaming). All industries, and therefore film industries, go through these peaks and troughs. for whatever reason. It will probably recover in time, but these downturns in the film world have also led to great innovation, and technological changes to try to bring more people to the theatres. Hopefully this is finally the wakeup call to Bollywood to actually start nurturing good writing talent instead of getting Farhad Samji on every other project. That would honestly be innovation enough for them lot.

@Simran Wilasra Very true! Also, during the pandemic even the middle aged and older generation have become accustomed to catching up on entertainment on their mobiles. So a movie that doesn't really require a big screen to experience it in its totality will, more often than not, be watched at home

I think in pandemic people have watched so many content driven movies including me available in various ott platforms and are now aware that you don't need a big star cast or big budget to make a great movie. And people now treat watching movies in theatre as an experience rather than just a weekend getaway and they are ready to miss star led movies because we know that it would be released in ott platforms sooner than later.

The Fact that back in 1980s there was such a great time for audience who were fan of both star-led films or parallel cinema both movies used to be successful we got such wide variety of cinema and storytelling...kudos to the audience who had clear distinction between Bobby and Ankur making both of them Superhits and they never used to be like let's not waste our money in theatres for a 'Sparsh' or 'Aakrosh'...because it's not fun!! unlike today the charm of watching a story in theatres is dead because believe me or not there is a monopoly of a single type of action/big scale/big budget content not in India even in West for which people even wait on ott/streaming/bluray for them to arrive....

Sir that time movies are not available on OTTs, Television Channels like todays and ticket rates are very cheap that everyone can afford them. Though VCRs and VHSs are there... but that was also acceessible to very few people unlike todays... where everyone have internet faciltity. In one Movie cost you can buy OTT subscription of a full month... if you don't want to pay that also... films are avaialble other ways. That time Cinema is only form of entertainment... now there are many... people become choosy and ticket costs are much higher that a middle class good earning person also can't afford them.

I think the cost of a movie outing has become so high.. 200 + convenience fee for ticket and 200 minimum for snack, + the outrageous parking fee levied by the malls. That means i need 500₹ for a solo movie outing. Now i consider whether the particular movie is worth 500₹ rather than just the ticket cost which itself is higher. So, I'd gladly wait for the movie's ott release. This is a chain reaction. Heroes have increased their fee by humongous numbers, and thus producers are left with no choice but to sell the movie for greater price, and the multiplex chains charge heavily to recover their purchase cost. Add poor script to the mix and it is destined to fail. Good or above average movies get a second life in ott. But anything average or below are washed out. If the tier 1 stars from all the industries become considerate of the situation and a step is taken to bring down the theatre experience costs, many movies can survive this harsh phase. A mere 30 to 40₹ reduction in ticket prices can work wonders i believe.

It is such an interesting scenario. The fan following of some stars like Balayya will still continue to make projects HITS but the newer stars with a similar tonality will get outright rejected. Waltair veerayya was watchable due to the 2nd half, especially when ravi teja character enters and had shared a great bond with chiru. While, I agree veera simha reddy was utter trash😂, those two movies mainly worked due to Sankranti festive seasons (although veera simha reddy faced a huge drop on it's 2nd day itself), where audiences pay money for such masala films. It's not restricted to only telugu audiences, but across the same in other state too! Especially recently released kkbkkj. The opening was too low, but later took a huge jump on EID weekend. Later, it again faced a huge drop and this time the festival season couldn't save a salman's film unlike other films used to! While, such films never work if they get in normal weekdays. This is the difference!

In my personal opinion a lot can be said about the writing disaster that the movie business has become lately and the fact that a lot of movies are being made as a package cluster of deals and tie-ups that seem all the more obvious and flabbergasting over time. If you look at regional content from Gujarat like Kevi Ritey Jaish or Chaal Jeevi Laiye they tried to do something undone previously and had the perfect casting, writing, moments, novelty and a technicality to them which compelled the audiences into walking in and having a great time. The latest one being “Vash” which i heard is also being remade in Hindi. I used these references from the Gujarati film industry is because there are a lot of duds and similar projects in Gujarati films too that try to emulate the success or formula of the aforementioned 3 path breaking ones but thats how film business has been working of late. Rajkumar Hirani was the last great storyteller who managed to shock the hindi film market and latest good film that i truly had fun watching was probably Chhicchorey that was an out and out entertainer. Baaki sab abhi sirf chal raha hain. OTT is also getting boring and monotonous and people can easily spend their time watching reruns of favorite shows or good films and series if they dont feel entertained enough with the content that is being shoved up their throats along with 700 rupee popcorn and cold drinks just because you have managed to trap them in a dark room full of strangers by showing them the promise of a good 150 to 200 mins of entertainment at the rate if 3 rs per minute.

@@TriedRefusedProductions But Jammy do you think that's the bigger issue which Bollywood is facing more than content saturation , the macroeconomics of things .Cause if we compare with a Malyalam cinema failure of Mohanlal or Mammootty it's budget doesn't exceed 10,15 crores.But for a film of such a simple concept like Selfie has a budget of 110 crores to it . Do you think it's time for actors to not withhold responsibility from the product and have a more creative incentive into the working of a movie ?
@shahanaz3990
@shahanaz3990 Жыл бұрын
@@avinashpawnday yeah I think they actors are charging more even in Telugu film radhe shyam the budget was 300 crores whereas sitaramam was only 30 crores. I think in all industries instead of making more commercial films they should work more on script and execution of film. The recent Telugu film balagam was a low budget film but it's connected with the people especially Telangana people so well. I think more actors who could actually act should also be launched particularly in Telugu film and they should also focus on the language too. In shakuntalam the dubbing is not good for both the leads they should have dubbed it with professional dubbing artists though.

When a movie like Selfie costs 110cr, you expect nothing but disaster. That movie probably cost 5cr except the actors fee and marketing. Actors like Akshay got so overconfident in themselves that they thought People goes to the movies just to watch them in a shit movie. They need reality check like this more often than you think.

The malayalam films are basically made for OTT with the slow narration, serious tone nowadays as they feel they can earn more there.. It is hard to sit through most of the malayalam film nowadays in theaters coz most of us come to theaters to have an experience that will make u forget your daily life problems for a couple of hours wherein those issues are the ones discussed in the films and in such a slow pace... The other languages films are either trying to bank on human emotions rather than logic in the films and also tries to showcase themselves as pan india by doing mass masala just because KGF worked with that formula

I am from a small town. When we were in colleges like in 2015, we didn't have smartphones at that time. We used to go to theatres for entertainment. We even didn't watch trailers at that time before watching a movie. At that time source of entertainments were very limited. Either we have to download 3gp quality movies from downloading centre at 10 rupees or we can directly go to theatres and watch the movies at rupees 30 or 40 at that time. But after the introduction of 4G network at cheaper price in India, gradually the source of entertainment increases. Now we can access numerous movies, short films, web series etc at anytime anywhere also at cheaper price. Instead of managing our time according to theatre times, we can watch movies according to our time table. So the frequency of going theatres decreases in small towns like us.
