The opinion about actresses that get cast in Tamil and telugu is soooo true - rakul Preet Singh, kajal Aggarwal, tamannah bhatia, raashi khanna, Amy Jackson, hansika motwani, nidhi agerwal, adah sharma, kriti sanon, kiara advani, genelia d souza, jyothika (she comes from North Indian family) - more foreign and North Indian women in South Indian movies than actual South Indian women.

I hear also because the aspiration among the masses in the state is not really films as compared to states like Mumbai and the north of India that have starry eyes for Hindi Cinema, it may be one of the main reasons why casting agents look for female actors elsewhere vs from within the state

the problem with Ranveer in Don 3 isn't about replacing Srk alone, it is about replacing him while the franchise is still continuing. It is the same as Salman replacing Saif in Race 3. You cannot do Amazing Spider Man 1 and 2 with Andrew, and then end up doing the 3rd part with Tom Holland. That makes zero sense. It is better to reboot Don again and then cast Ranveer, just like James Bond.

The problem with Tiger isn’t the genre he chooses. His script selection is god awful though. You can have great action movies and bad ones, he seems to be doing exclusively bad or mediocre ones. War is the best example of a great movie by him and SPOILER i loved him as a villain in it. I wish he did more movies like that. Less fast and the furious and more John wick please.

Agreed! There are so many actors in hollywood who have made a career out of building themselves up as big actions heroes that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Tiger playing to his strengths by deciding to build his movie career in the image of an action hero and choosing scripts accordingly so that he may not be known as an actor in bollywood, but he could at least be one of the biggest action heroes of bollywood. But his script choices are getting terrible. Heropanti, baaghi 1 and war were his only good movie choices. The rest were terrible.

@@krishniarumugamWell we are kind of seeing this happen, though not in Bollywood, but Thalapathy Vijay's next film with Lokesh Kanagaraj titled Leo is considered special by people excited for it because one of the reasons is the reunion of Vijay with Trisha. The pair did 4 movies together in the early 2000s starting with Ghilli, which coincided with Vijay's earliest stage of super stardom and its their first film together in 15 years. And rather than be sad about their demigod accepting his age, hardcore Vijay fans are actually reminiscing about the pair's iconic moments from Ghilli and Kuruvi. As someone who isn't a big Vijay fan like myself, its like a time capsule to a time I never witnessed. This won't decide if the film is good or bad, Dilwale was bad coz it was a bad film and not because of SRK and Kajol. But its not like we are gonna be up in arms about Salman and Madhuri or Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla doing a movie together in the future. At least Akshay Kumar should start thinking about doing a movie with Raveena Tandon sometime in the future.

I think the whole male saviour and manic pixie debate is almost about the same thing, that it always entangles romantic companionship with self-esteem and individuality. It creates this constant craving for romantic support to understand your own self, which is not beneficial for anyone. Neither the guy or the girl. It kinda burdens the people with the expectations to be a therapist to their partner.

This may be true that it creates unrealistic expectations out of partners. But lets also be fair about the fact that it is neither strange or wrong to say that people discover newer and sometimes better aspects to themselves when they find the right partner. I have seen innumerable people have a completely different outlook on life and their behaviours and habits when they found a partner who encouraged them to better themselves and had a healthy and symbiotic relationship. People have this idea of being independent and not needing anyone to better themselves. And thats fine. But its also fine to be positively influenced by your partner and pick up traits that you admire in them.

The comeback of 90s pair is such a good idea..I really wish the directors see this and consider.. especially when the actresses are still there in limelight and the actors pretend to look young...when they can show real organic relationships that suits their age....this reminded me of a video where, in a press meet of Bheesma parvam when someone asked actress Nadia that if she is envious of Mamooty looking so fit in his age ,she brilliantly replied saying she is rather envious of the work he gets in his age as compared to her/other actresses who can't get work even after being fit..

I think the problem here is that even in when a man helps a woman the story is always about the man and his perspective is shown with more focus and when in a story woman helps a man her role is only limited to her contribution in that man's life and we get to see nothing about the woman's own journey. Its especially true for SS Thaman and Arijit Singh. Arijit no longer sounds unique. My hot take is O Bedardeya from Tu Jhooti Main Makkar needed to be sung by someone other than Arijit. As for SS Thaman, his problem is quantity over quality. He is taking up so many projects that he is not able to be as consistent as Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo and he will have hits and misses like Varisu. Which is probably y there r reports of Thaman being fired from Mahesh Babu's next movie because the actor has not been happy with Thaman's work after Sarkaru Vaari Paatha had mid music and the fact that Thaman has not recorded a single song despite of the film being a few months away from a Sankranti 2024 release. Imo a major reason for ranveer getting trolled is his over -exposed media image , which has presented him just as a happy go lucky man whereas the likes of RK , srk try being as far away from over-exposing themselves as possible, ranveer singh has transitioned from a movie star to a media star !!

I don't think the whole Don debate is just that simple generational POV. If you look at both the Don of BigB and SRK, I much prefer the BigB's version of it but it's when SRK came with Don2 and brought a lot of personality and individuality to his Don it worked for me rather than the first one which was a remake and didn't explore Don much. Likewise if Ranveer brings a sense of individuality and persona to his Don it will work rather than if he tries to mimic or create the same character as either of the Dons before him.

I think that the age problem is a very real one. As one gets older is gets tougher to do action fight scenes, so what the makers do? They spend that time, money and effort on making the heroes look like chiselled Greek Gods (hell, today they just CGI the abs) so that instead of struggling against the goons, a shirtless hero can just one pnuch them. Like SRK didn't need to have looked like 20yr old gym freak in Pathaan. You look at Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves, both nearly 60 yrs old doing their stunt and putting in the effort. And even if you are unable to do the action movies....don't do them.

Personal hot take of mine is that both the robot movies were mediocre at best neither one of them were actual good stories. Yes it provided something new at the time but it's just not good. And I think the biggest problems with high budget spectacle movies is that the director often focuses on spectacle than the actual story where the spectacle is supporting it and then it becomes this shotty cgi fest like Adhipurush and 2.0. And also I think RRR while it looks spectacular it doesn't provide anything new to what we have already seen, it's just the same thing with great visuals.

That's why I understand when some directors say they prefer a movie with a smaller budget as it pushes them to be more creative and less lazy, because big budget movies all prioritise the visual grandeur of the movie rather than the quality of the scriptwriting and technicalities of filmmaking.

Also, about Alia and Ranveer's chemistry, other than their amazing pairing in Gully Boy, another example of their GREAT chemistry are the Make My Trip ads (who actually showcased them as a couple way before gully boy). Their chemistry is bang on. Both of them are very versatile actors and have a varied filmography. We shouldn't dismiss their work and/or chemistry based on the few seconds of the trailer and a song. The editing and/or the picturisation may be at fault. I feel it's too soon to judge.
@ShreyaGupta28993
@ShreyaGupta28993 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. They have been doing those ads since last 6-7 years. Nobody has ever questioned their chemistry there. I think people are judging them just because Ranveer has been giving flops and Alia, well, she is hated for just existing. Honestly, I also felt like the chemistry is off, at least not how it was in gully boy, but I think that was because how they are presented. Ranveer has never done a romantic role before (Lootera is different) , we should give both of them a chance.

One major distinction in regards to Don, when SRK did Don in 2006 Amith ji was already retired (from hero roles) and was doing grandpa roles. Here SRK is well capable to do Don, still alive and fit, and for 10 years people were eagerly waiting to see SRK in Don 3. Amit ji's Don was a standalone film while SRK's don is a franchise. No matter how good Ranveer will be in Don 3, psychologically people won't be able to digest it that well.

Although I understand the intention behind portraying women as strong to inspire the audience and create an ideal image of strength, I believe it's important to acknowledge that some women can experience emotional vulnerability due to the challenges they face in life, just like the character Kiara in the movie. Sometimes, Jammy's perspective on female characters in certain films seems overly idealistic and disconnected from reality. I recall his review of Rakshabandhan, where I disagree with the notion of ignoring the existence of color shaming or body shaming towards women, as these issues are prevalent in society. Why shouldn't movies depict such stories, especially when Rakshabandhan presented a character arc for the protagonist and ultimately conveyed the message of not succumbing to societal standards?
@cineholic88
@cineholic88 Жыл бұрын
The main issue with raksha bandhan is not with the body shaming part towards women , but the way Akshay changed himself overnight after his eldest sister's death due to dowry. Even as a die-hard fan, I couldn't connect with that change that how he looked fell down, taking time to recover while his other three sisters struggling to console him for many days. He even donated his kidneys,still he hasn't suffered a single pain or any infection, nor did he do any surgery after that! Lot's of loopholes in this movie, which led to the downfall of it's supposedly emotional tone. 2nd half literally turned into a typical hindi film with social message. It hasn't portrayed brother-sister relationship that binds the audience to the core. Except the eldest sister, none of other ones were used properly in this movie, only the good thing was Akshay kumar, that's it! At the end, message was good, but the form it took wasn't!

The problem with Tiger Shroff is not that he only does action movies. Like you said I actually admire him for his physical abilities. There are hardly few actors like Vidyut who can match him in pure physical skill but the major problem is actually the action movies he chooses, Heropanti 2, Baadhi 3. What's stopping him from doing movies like Raid or John Wick which rely on pure raw martial arts( no wires, no flashy explosions). Baaghi 1 came very close and really was entertaining in terms of action but all the rest of his flicks had some stupid action scenes which made him look like a clown. I think he should tone down with the over exaggerated action like in Heropanti 2 and just focus on pure raw and unflitered action.

'DON 3' is literally shown in the number plate of SRK's bike in Don 2's ending which made audience believe that SRK will return in Don 3. The story needs to continue from there. KGF Chapter 3 is revealed in the end of KGF Chapter 2 which obviously makes audience believe Yash will return. Joker left the calling card in Batman Begins and continued in The Dark Knight. Continuing the story from Don 2 is actually more interesting than the reboot.

Being "rescued" by a romantic partner, whichever way it goes, is just a story about the redemptive love, about how experiencing kindness makes us able to be kind and how we all need human connection to thrive. Of course, it doesn't have to be a romantic partner, but it often is because narrative needs an outsider who involves themselves quickly, and also because it's an added bonus of potentially appealing just as a love story. In fact, i would agree we probably need more stories where it is not the love interest who provides that connection, so that we don't start getting it confalted with expecting a relationship to fix the problems we have with ourselves. But if it's a good, well-told story, there's no danger of that.

Totally agree with you Anmol on the Tiger thing. I also respect him for what he does and how he is. He's a very humble guy and kind of reserved actually if you see him in interviews or TKSS. He's really good at what he does, that is, stunts, action and dancing and I respect him for that. He actually puts a lot of effort in his movies wrt the action setpieces. He just has to choose a movie with a good storyline. If we look at action stars in Hollywood like Jason Statham, what has he done?? Is he a good "actor"?? No but he's an outstanding action star and that's what he's known for. I think Tiger can be outstanding if he's given good, grounded action movies and not over the top action flicks like Baaghi 3. The first Baaghi, despite having copied a lot of scenes from other movies, worked at the BO because people loved the music and people loved to see Tiger who was a budding action hero back then. I personally have high hopes from Ganpath and BMCM

The problem with MPDG and Male Saviour complex is the same - the women just serve as the tool for the man’s character arc and journey and don’t get to be full fledged persons with their own journey and in the latter case, agency. The story becomes about the man, the woman just fuels it. Geet however is not MPDG, though she starts out that way in the first half as basically aiding the man’s journey but then pivoting to her own, so although Geet was certainly quite a manic pixie, she’s not just an archetype, she has her own goals, and an arc. Vikrant Massey in Chhapak was an ally not a saviour for example. Also totally agree about Ranvir, his ability, styling in Tum Kya Mile. He had great chemistry with Alia in Gully Boy

SRK did Don 28 years after the original and it was a remake, after that they continued the franchise. It's only been 12 years since the last Don so it's still fresh in people's mind, on top of that, unlike Amitabh Bachchan, people are actually expecting a 3rd movie from SRK and was hoping for it to become a huge franchise (sadly that's not gonna happen). I have no problem seeing Ranbir as Don but I think they should reboot the franchise again to give Ranbir a new start. Continuing the franchise and seeing Ranbir as a replaced Don would be a little weird.

Wrt to your point on the nostalgia around the 90s, one thing that has changed in the current scenario vs our parent’s generation is that the gen Z or gen x aren’t as drawn to Bollywood as millennials were as kids/youngsters. I believe the movie going audience that still has any hope from Bollywood currently are millennials and before and the rejection of new actors in certain roles is directly translating into revenue and numbers unlike what happened when we were transitioning from an Amitabh to a Sharukh. Bollywood needs to evolve to create content that draws in the younger generation through relevant scripts regardless of the actors picked. It would also be good to have 90s actors paired together to cater to us millennials 😄

Loved the movie. Didn't understand the criticism. There is a dearth of enjoyable movies in cinemas. Last one I actually enjoyed was Drishyam 2. It is much easier to go for Tamil movies, since I m living in the area. They are also often coming with eng subs, so understanding complex dialogues is not a problem. But bollywood giving a good fresh movie isn't usually the case. Mote often than it disappoints. Or at the most, it's a masala movie which you just watch but don't really connect with like Pathan. Stories like this one, Badhai ho, city lights and such don't come often. And some like udham Singh and shershah etc. have entirely missed the cinema release. Which they completely and utterly deserved. I hope the audience is a little bit more intelligent in their feedback. And keep open the demand of good reasonable movies with am excellent message and still having plenty of comedy and humor.

One of the main reason why south indians films dont have regional actress because most girls/womens dont aspire to become actress. And everybody knows and feels that an actress is not a respectable profession other than having fame and money..The cultural stigma for being an actress for females across south is not pleasant. Moreover south indians girls themselves dont actually aspire for becoming actress or fame.. Mostly south indians girls all want to become is doctors and engineer.

🙌 I hate the obsession with women's body and fairness. Jay Bhim was a movie no one talks about but look at the lead female , commendable performance, even from the kids !

Unpopular opinion: Alia’s acting in Gangubai was very average. All the time , I watched the movie, it felt like I was watching Alia acting as a tough woman. Tbh, Alia is a very urban girl; it was bad casting because the character is from a village in decades ago and then from a brothel. Also, I feel like SLB was to blame too because how he designed other characters ( very realistic ) but Gangubai was with perfect makeup and hair was looking out of place . Overall, I think Alia is terrific actor but not a glamorous or graceful quintessential hind film heroine as opposed to Deepika , Priyanka. Maybe , that’s why she seemed misfit for SLB’s set.

I don't think you are past that prejudice and biasness of yours. You are heavily influenced by external factors causing to have this opinion. Alia IS a terrific actor and she killed it in Gangubai. Giving her some credit for her good work won't make you inferior. I feel like you are a person to say Ranveer Singh isn't a good actor.

@@howwbiee1494 I mean he is right. Alia was not bad and I enjoyed it but she was not great and terrific. She have a great future. But she is not that terrific right now but have a potential. She did see like a misfit. Most of the time when I saw Alia on screen it reminded me of the flipkart ads with kids. But there were some scenes where I was convinced with her performance. She was not consistent throughout the movie. Ranveer Singh is a great actor.

that one snippet in the beginning does sumarise the whole Don 3 chaos... it's basically the same thing every other hollywood reboot goes through. Everytime a new james bond is cast, or when Affleck & then Pattinson were given batman or the most recent of David Corenswet becoming Superman. DC fan space online is full of "Henry Cavill is the only GOAT supes" posts. It's all a temporary thing and audience will come around when Ranveer will do the character in his own style.

I remember that Pattinson backlash: The level of hate he got and how quickly everyone fell in love with him. Seems like almost cyclical with any new casting

@@TriedRefusedProductions if it’s a whole new reboot of Don, that’s one thing. Imo if it’s “Don 3” as in a continuation of the story that last took place in Berlin, I think that’s more of a problem because that story belongs with SRK’s version of the character. Ranveer’s version should start a whole new series disconnected from the previous movies. Like they do when they get a new Batman, Superman etc
