I nearly bought one when they first came out. I had always thought that the original was one of the three best looking motorcycles of all time (the Ducati 916 and BMW R90S being the other two). But the too small gas tank and too dim headlight were issues that I couldn't get past.

@al_in_philly5832 gas tank isn't an issue unless you tour on the katana. I found it it to be just the right size...but yes bigger is always better. Dim headlight? The Honda CB 500 F, designed for the European market with its 35 KW power limit, is an affordable and reliable motorcycle, priced around $7,000. It comes with a 5-year warranty and is a popular choice for those seeking to obtain a motorcycle license in some countries due to its accessible power output and ease of handling. So, in that case, the NC750X is a great choice for somenone who really want a simple bike capable to do almost everything for a "small" price with the Honda reliability. I started riding it to keep the bike's fluids moving and the battery charged the 'riding' way. Being used to quicker (but older) sports touring bikes (ZZR 1400/ZX 14) I initially disliked the NX750 and always saw it as a way to learn to use DCT so at least I would have that 'skill' under my belt. Lo and behold this under-powered , weird city bike started to grow on me when I sussed out the paddle shifts up to the point that they enabled me to squeeze out every drop of its limited power. Still wouldn't buy one, but as second (or better even third) bike it starts to somehow make sense.

CB500F... I know people who own them, and there's really nothing wrong with them. they may not be as popular as an MT07. but they are a more pleasant ride. the best part about them is they fit into the LAMS rues perfectly. so you're getting the most you actually can within the rules without the unnecissary weight of the 650's that have to be detuned to meet the rules! Would I get a CB500F? nope, I'd get the CB500X or NX500 DR650... same weight as a V-strom 250SX with twice the power and 2 times the torque, greater off-road ability (by far) and just as good on-road (They do have more vibration but that is offset by the fact they can cruise at the same speed much easier) the "Baby" ADV's wont have much of an advantage over them in anything other than Price ($7000NZ for the 250SX and $11000NZ for the DR-Z400E as we don't get the 650 here) NC750... the thing that's not sure if it's a streetbike derived from a TransAlp. or the TransAlp for the person who is terrified of unsealed roads so never goes there... Perfect for the guy who used to, but is now too old to... but can't give up the Image??? Or the person who just wants to get there and back many times over without having to stop for repairs!

When he found out i rode and have been wrenching my whole life, out it came that the bike hadn't run in over half a decade, had a salvage title, and hes been trying to offload it for years. Dipshit still hasnt trailered the dumb thing over -- probably because hes either scrambling to fix the unfixable, or scrape together the cash to get us our money back.😂

My dad has the Honda NC750X. He's in his 70's. Had loads of bikes over the years including an RC30 in the 80s. I think it serves it's purpose as an older geezers bike who doesn't want to get a scooter lol. Automatic gears. Loads of mpg. Comfy. He's always bragging about how many miles to the gallon he got haha

I´ll probably exchange my Honda CBR 250R to a newer NC750X sooner or later. Beginning with 2021 the Seat hight is lower and the design changed. Besides it is available with manual transmition and in the meantime it also revs until 7500 RPM. This is enough for me, given that it the tourqe is pretty good with 69Nm and you do not need to rev so high.

I think metric cruisers are fantastic. Just like any motorcycle they are great for road trips. And road trips are rarely boring :-). On my first long distance trip, I even went off-road with a metric cruiser (Honda Rebel) which was super fun. Wouldn't advice it though without any off-road experience. But anyway, metric cruisers are cheap and reliable and with that combination you can have a lot of fun and it doesn't cost much.

if your goal is to crush miles and don't want a cruiser.. or spend a lot on a "proper" touring bike.. the canted forward 750cc 50~ hp torque-rich beast that is the NC750X is your go-to... 70-80mpg, torque on tap all day erry day and the frunk. So there are actually two generations of the new Katana. The older 2019 and 2020 models (here in the USA) and then the "bespoke" request only 2024 (they only imported 23 of them in 2024 in USA) and 2025 models (post 2022 models overseas). The later models have upgraded electronics, a redesigned airbox, and a few other upgrades. I bought a 2024 model because I liked the neo-retro future (blade runner & cyber punk) styling the bike has, the fact its not ugly like MT-10 or MT-09, and you don't see them everywhere.

CB1100 was a beautiful effort from Honda, with its unique engine, timeless design and great fit and finish. They should have promoted it more, make more special versions (café racer, funky 70’s colors). It’s the kind of bike that one can buy and keep forever, knowing it will always start and run. I’d have one as a staple besides more modern bikes.

I understand yammy has his view an opinions, but it seems like he is very dismissive of anything that’s not a sport naked or sport anything really. Not everyone wants a sport naked, tourer etc. some of us like the American v twin style of riding. Ya non of them will carve the canyons like a sport bike or naked bike. But that’s not the point or what we want out of our motorcycles. And just because a bike doesn’t have that sport like performance doesn’t mean it’s bad. I’m getting really tired of all the motorcycle channels ragging on Harley and American cruisers is general and their only complaint is it’s not sporty 🙄

The Katana had potential ! But they went in a wrong direction in the execution. Mostly they forgot about the futuristic side to a certain degree. But here are the points I think should have made it memorable.. 1- make it an actual sport bike with clip-on's and some form of sleek windshield that you can tuck under (not the generic pedestrian kinda scooter-esk position). 2- Get rid of the basic of the shelf square rectangular headlight, (even tough they made it led it still destroyed the potential beauty) the designer had a better idea with the more modern integrated headlight with a smooth plexiglass that fallows the lines of the fairing like the prototype was showing. 3- give it an actual gas thank and actual range and not the ridiculous 12 liters.

Another 2020 Suzuki Katana owner here. I'm making a video review of mine, all it needed was a full m4 exhaust and a tune. It's an amazing bike, get compliments wherever I go. I have an NC750X as a commuter bike. If you're the sort of person that likes to brag about your bike or just stare at it endlessly in the garage then it's probably not for you. If you want a bike that does almost everything, will cruise down the freeway at 70mph and return 70mpg (at the same time), that will never go wrong and doesn't attract thieves (at least the manual version doesn't) then this is your bike. I think it's a pretty nice looking bike too.

Everyone have yamaha, honda or suzuki in my country, so I bought BMW f800r for a first bike. I wanted something different, no one have bmw f800r. It is easy to ride and easy to drift, very good in the city and really bad on the highway. It is way way cheaper here compare to yamaha, but way more reliable. I ride with people with 150-200hp motorcycles and never fall behind. The only problem is the wind, 120kmh and above you fill like you bench pressing, it is a city motorcycle. Plus it is ok for a 6ft person like me.

I have a 2024 Katana. I like it a lot the parts catalogue kinda sucks for it but I'm so in love with the looks mainly. So many naked bikes have that 'future' look to them that look a little too buggy and Transformer for me. The Katana stands out in that regard. So yeah I spent a little more extra on the looks but I think if we were all concerned about most bang for your buck we'd all be riding similar bikes.

I have a 2021 NC750X DCT and it’s the only thing I ride every single day. I don’t even have a car. That being said: I hate that the bike is really good, but not great. So much bother’s me about it, but it’s comfortable to ride, extremely convenient, and great fuel consumption. The one problem I identify with it is that there’s no competition for it, no other brand makes anything that resembles it, so there’s no need to actually upgrade it. I’m no seeing myself changing it any time soon (or ever), but personally I can’t say I love it

I have a 2019 Honda NC750X DCT which I enjoy riding. The engine is big enough so that it's not turning very fast at highway speeds which makes it good for touring. The DCT in traffic is awesome; when starting out after lane filtering I've unintentionally left someone on a manual motorcycle over in the next slot in the dust - pretty damaging to their ego I suppose.

As an owner of Honda CB500F I can say that only reason someone might find this bike boring, it's because it's been kept for A2 license users. Or it's design - some might find it boring because it's "not angular enough". Design wise 2016- 2023 models I think were pretty cool looking. But looks are subjective. Otherwise, CB500F is practical commuter and even fun on twisty roads. I have even done some trips on it.
@TOXRaizouАй бұрын
Pretty much this. A2 License users use those bikes. At least in france, it used to be like the 2nd or 3rd bike behind mt-07 or z650 simply because it offered the right amount of torque in order to become ridable for new motorcyle riders. A2 users couldn't ride more than 47hp bikes. You were basically riding restricted bikes if you were to be using mt-07 or z650 (or as of right now, the hornet 750 since it is taking the whole mid-size bike's market). Before the hornet 750 took place, the new A2 users were either going for one of those 3 bikes : Mt-07, z650 or cb500F. The CB500F were basically good bikes for beginners and also one of the cheapest when it comes to gas. They were also very reliable. Like much more reliable than mt-07.

The NC750X is very popular in Europe as a commuter. It revs to 8000 RPM and is more about torque then HP (60hp, 50-something ft-lbs). The motor is reputed to be 1/2 the Honda Fit engine, so yes, lives forever. It also gets something like mid-70s mpg, and is a great open road tourer. Different strokes...
