Remember kids, steroids helps grow muscle. Your heart is a muscle. Big biceps....cool. Big heart....not good.

Steroids are not the main contributor to heart attacks (not that I promote nor use them). The bigger reason for enlarged hearts leading to unnecessary strokes and heart attacks is because of using HGH.
@mstrunn5 жыл бұрын
@ Eric not necessarily so, most endurance athletes, i.e. runners, bicyclists, rowers, etc have larger than normal hearts and do not take steroids, steroids raise the LDL in your blood thus shrinking the blood vessels, many body builders that used roids died from liver and kidney failure.

I had a friend named Anthony who died of a heart attack. He started juicing at the young age of 16. I remember I visited with him on a Wednesday and called him that Saturday after I hadn't heard from him as planned. His wife text me from his phone and said that he wasn't feeling well and passed out Friday at home after he had been complaining of "stomach pain" for a couple of days. He wasn't upfront with his doctor about what he was doing and so the doctor guessed he must've pulled something while training. They gave him pain meds and sent him home. He passed out again and suffered a massive heart attack. He was placed on life support and all of his organs failed that very Sunday. The last 2 years that he juiced he never cycled off and he started HGH and Insulin. He was 23 years old when he died. 23.

Dan Fernandes Exactly! Some time ago I coined the term 'muscular obesity' because these guys are SO ironically similar to the obese in quality of life AND manner of death. Too big for normal clothing, public transport etc. Relaxed their rolls of muscle can look almost like fat. They can have joint, organ, skin and other health issues. There is just NOTHING whatsoever good about being just too unnaturally huge for your natural body type and frame, period!

Mike matarazzo was a ticking timebomb when it came to the bodybuilding culture he helped devise! He was one of the first guys to experiment with insulin, adrenaline and vit c jabs (negligibally and excessively) and during one of the Olympias (93 I believe) he endured several simultaneous heart attacks and was stretchered past the editor of flex magazine in the lobby and Mike was in relative spirits saying -- how he's fine, just a little issue I need to take care off, no biggy"" (hence how this story was told with such detail!) He was beyond lucky he even made it to his 40's tbh!

The steriods make you to heavy for your actual bone structure. Also your heart does a lot of work to digest food. So with that already, and the combination of the additional unnatural elements is simply a recipe for a heart attack. Work out to feel good, and looking good falls in to place.

Michel As ironic as it might sound at first glance, I'd love to achieve for Arnold's physique w/out any steroids. Obviously it's impossible for me b/c I don't have nearly the same genetics as him (5'7" @ 135 lbs @ ~7% bf) , let alone the lower dosages of steroids he took. The reason why I say that however is b/c I'm still insanely young - I'm a millennial born on the year 2000 - & I have firm reason to believe that I can still have a rather excellent physique, despite not being as heavy as most ppl.

I feel I’m lucky to be here today as I abused the juice heavily in 80s for several years as did most of my fellow lifting buddies many of whom have passed away years ago in there 40 and 50s most all had cardiac events. I was a powerlifting regional champion with a bodybuilding mindset as are many. I’m now 67 still hitting the gym for some 50 plus years now but am climbing a different mountain now. I recently had an cardio angiogram the outcome wasn’t great but now and for the past 6-7 years am training to stay alive literally. As I grow older and become invisible to the new gen in the gym and my peers disappear and peeps know nothing of my background and why would anyone really care I realize that my words NO ONE CARES says it all something to think but youth cannot hear this. The juice just isn’t worth it as much as I loved being jacked I don’t think I would repeat can’t say for sure cause I was once a young buck back in the hay day

I think it important to distinguish heart attack from ventricular tachycardia. Some research points to PED’s causing heart malfunction. I am former Highland games world champion and at 56 I thought I was having heart attack, when in fact it was ventricular tachycardia. When I arrived at hospital my heart rate was @ 300 bpm. The head cardiologist said only thing save me was type of training which included a lot of Olympic lifting and motions that required explosivity. This made my heart wall thicker than most which allowed me to survive such a horrible ordeal. Turns out I had Wolf Parkinson’s White disease which was congenital. After 3 surgery I was able to compete and continue my regimen. This is why very important for you to take heart tests for early detection. Most bodybuilders do lifts that are anaerobic and could very well be susesptable to tachycardia. When it happens to regular heart it is instant death. No warnings. Nothing. Is very important to take know how your heart is doing.

Nick, I know a guy at the gym who has a HS Diploma who knows a guy that has a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry who says "steroids are perfectly safe dude". Parents need to know that whenever your teenager visits a gym there are a dozen losers at life looking for a kid that they can sell to.

Tell the guy with the bachelors degree he is full of it and Mikey mouse degrees from on line degree mills don't count. My daughter has a masters in molecular biology and has informed me that they are not safe for most even under doctors care. Should only be used for those suffering from certain ailments. I understand her reasons because I have masters plus some credits to doctorate. Not saying this to brag by any means because some of the biggest idiots I know are PHD's. Since you brought up education I wanted to put this in context. My brother in law is a PHD in biochemistry and has educated me a bit on this also. It's not the steroids. It's exhaustion. As a bodybuilder, you learn to KEEP GOING especially when you CAN'T. It's the only way to develop the kind of physique that pros show. But at some point, for some people, the body (the HEART really) can't take anymore. The mistake many bodybuilders do is TRAIN HARDER when the answer would be for them to quit entirely. Poliquiin died from this. Probably Duchaine as well. Ajdos (Internet name) too. And others.

Meltzer had genetic problems from what I remember, train for life, without drugs, you'll live out your life potential. Look at the bodybuilders from the fifties and sixties, those who kept up their training ,without drugs, lived long above average lives. When I started training it was for strength and health, and if you never stop, that's what will happen.

At 6:50 it is not Daniele Sacceracci. It is Alexandre Nataf.

Steroids definitely increase the risk of health problems, however they alone are not the culprits. It comes down to unhealthy diet which causes chronic damage to various organs and blood vessels from inflammation, while the steroids just exacerbate and speed up the process so instead of dying in their 60s and 70s they're dying in their 30s and 40s. Body builders are notorious for bad eating habits: huge amounts of meat (red meat in particular), huge amount of saturated fats, etc. All of that increases inflammation. Add to that the inflammation from injuries in the gym. It's a perfect storm for bad health.
lol this is so wrong its funny....fats and proteins are not the primary cause of inflammation....excess carbohydrates are.

Adding to that would be that the sheer size of many bodybuilders puts tremendous stress on their hearts. Having to pump a lot of blood through such an enormous body will negatively affect your heart. There are many more things about a (professional) bodybuilding lifestyle that further add to these problems, creams that essentially burn away your hair, tanning lotions, repeated, constant stress on your joints and bones, pre-workout and many more don't exactly contribute to your health.

Yeah, to me it's not worth it to take steroids and eat ungodly amounts of food, at 6'2 190 pounds my weight is pretty much where it should be, I feel good and I see no reason to gain much more muscle, and even if I did I wouldn't try to gain more than 10 pounds. Never been tempted to take steroids and never will be, better to be healthy and live a long life than to be huge and die at a young age imo
