Keltie, I love this post - you are simply brilliant, AND as a 53 year old mum of my very own “Keltie” (and me being a one time burnt out perfectionist in my 30s) you just slightly blew your message at the end when you said - “hard work consistently over time”. NO! “good work consistently over time” maybe but not hard. It doesn’t all need to be hard - having a mindset that everything needs to be hard leads to stress, burnout, avoidance of anything easeful, fear of failure. It’s putting internal pressure on oneself. If you Google “having a mindset that everything needs to be hard”, it’s the very definition of a fixed mindset and I don’t think that reflects your own beliefs as you are an exemplar of a growth and learning mindset. Another book to add to your pile is Edward Slingerland’s “Trying not to Try” about the Daoist principle of wu-wei “effortless action” and the “source of all success in life”. The paradox that less striving leads to more success.

First, even your troll audience is growing! 😂 You’ve made it!!! 🎉 Second, I’m picking the rowing back up after stalling after a hard cold that really derailed me and I figure if I say it here, I have to do it! Finally, I wanted to say, I listen to a lot of your videos because I can’t always sit down and watch. Please consider putting them on a podcast platform, no changes needed, just another access point for more people. You are so much what people need as a fitness influencer. A (mostly) calm and rational voice, e.g. a really relatable person. ❤❤❤

I’ve recently found your channel and am loving your content! Obviously not all things apply or are compatible to my life and routine (we’re all different!) but apart from useful advice I get a lot of inspiration and reassurance from your way of talking and being really self aware and honest about whatever you’re explaining/reviewing etc. I look forward to new videos and have found a lot of comfort in watching you so thank you!

Keltie your video could not have been more perfectly timed. You mentioned breaking bad habits by making them unappealing and uneasy, and I have dropped to 1.8% vaping (a stupid habit that I wish I could kick my 21 year old self for starting) and have been that way for a few months. I’m proud of that but over the last few weeks I’ve realized just how much I use it when my hands or mouth are empty so I got some chew toy sensory necklace things and when I went to get another few today I said I’m going to leave this thing in my car and not come back to use it until my mind is absolutely bonkers dead. And when I go to work I’m leaving it at home so I don’t have access to it. I’m making it difficult and it’s unappealing because I spend lots of money on it and it makes my blood pressure high. Which is bad for the running habit that I formed (thanks to you partially)!

How you went about loving winter is similar to how I did too! I grew up in Michigan so we have pretty cold winters and EVERYONE complains about it which caused me to dislike them too. Eventually I stopped listening to them and embraced the winter! I’m not the biggest fan of the cold, but I’m thankful to live in an area that we get snow in the winter! At this point, I’m ready for spring weather though!😉

I came across Atomic habit's while going about the financial books haha, also the life changing magic of tidying is incredibly ironic that you brought this up as currently i'm gutting through my storage/closets/every small part of my place..... while putting away the holiday decore i realized it's been about 6 years and how things slowly start to build up, would recommend checking out the richest man in babylon and the compound effect if you haven't, they go great together.... side note you and that view at 17:20 😎🥂

thank you, i love that this helps give me a starting point on different books i could look into. i appreciate it. Also i was the one who previously asked about providing some initial guidance on the posture/stability workout you do (mentioned in the peter attia video). I know you said that a PT/physiotherapist would be best since our bodies are all different. However, i am unable to afford one atm. Sorry for asking and bothering you again, but do you have any creators, videos, exercises you found helpful to start building the habit. I can then figure out what works for me. Since you do so much research and you dont come across as extreme with what you adopt for yourself, it feels most comfortable asking you again. Tbh, would you be willing to create a video about the types of exercises you do say a 10 minute mobility/stability workout. I'm sorry if this an intrusive questions, or wrong in anyway. PS your hair looks amazing, ive been watching you since that hair video you made about your extensions, so its wonderful to see.

I am a fan of Sketchbook Skool’s Danny Gregory’s The Creative License: Giving Yourself Permission to Be the Artist You Truly Are. The book serves as a dialogue with Julia Cameron’s The Artists Way. Where Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic is a fruit from the creative tree. It is divided into nine acts: Drawing: Kickstarting Your Creativity and Learning to See; Journaling: Making Creativity into a Habit; Shock: Blasting Your But out of a Rut; Sensitization: reconnecting with Reality; Resistance: Winning the fight to go on; Judgement: From Enemy to Ally Identity: Who you are and why that’s fine; Expanding: Broadening your Creativity; Next; creativity in the real world. The book is published in reproduced handwritten text. After watching Professor Ellie Anderson’s Overthinking Podcast series on Art and Aesthetics I think it is worth taking the time to treat jumping into this book like a philosophical text. As slow as necessary to assimilate. At the pace that sings to where you are in your creative journey.

Making eye contact with a dog *actually* causes massive oxytocin spikes in both the person and the dog, especially if it's owner-to-dog eye contact. Petting a dog for your health and wellness is real. ✨

“And Then We Grew Up” by Rachel Friedman. One of my favorite books. Less of a self help book and more self exploratory/discovery. Great for burnt out creatives or those who always wonder about what if they’d taken a different path in life.

Awesome. I used to read a lot of self help books and it felt like they all sounded the same. So now I just read to enjoy. I mean I am listening to chop wood, carry water.

Couldn’t agree more! At some point reading self help books is fake-work and you’re just productively-procrastinating hahah

@ I am truly grateful to follow someone so real as you. I recently added a Oura ring to track sleep and day time stress. Wow. What an eye opener.

Fantastic video! So many books you mentioned I cannot wait to read! The books that I loved were the two books by Mark Manson,“The subtle art of not giving a fuck” and “Everything is fucked”…. It just helped me realize the important things to be worrying about and not to be worrying about where to put a lot of my focus I guess and I gotta think of what else because it’s been years since I read them, but do you plan on a reread this week maybebecause I do remember feeling so much better after finishing both

For anyone who might want to try I just wanted to say I got lmnt and ag1. Lmnt was surprisingly tasty, especially the chocolate! The only one I really couldn’t stand was watermelon. The AG1 had the taste of a flintstones chewable which made it hard for me to get through. I didn’t notice any big changes in my energy but i definitely was more regular! Shoutout Keltie for the discount

As you mentioned, hard work is important, but as you also mentioned, rest is crucial. I worked hard in my twenties but I got burnt out. Ended up wasting a lot of time unemployed, broke, and angry. I damaged a lot of relationships with that anger and lost a lot of friends. If I had simply worked less, rested more, and did more things I enjoy, I wouldn't have ended up wasting a decade bored, stressed out, and angry beyond all belief. If you're teenager or in your twenties, don't do what I did.

I have read so many self help books and this is a really good list. They can get really repetitive, so if anyone just red these ten they would be very well set up. I think Atomic Habits is my favorite though.

Hi Keltie! I just wanted to say i’ve been watching your youtube videos for a while now and i really appreciate all the effort and research you put into them! I’m currently in grade 11 but next year i will have to make a capstone ( a 10 minute presentation about anything i’m passionate about and then present in front of my school) if i want to graduate. I know you have done so many challenges focused on health and wellness and that’s why i love watching your videos! Anyway what i’m getting to is for this capstone i will have to do a lot of scientific research on the subject i end up choosing and i was wondering if you would have any suggestions on what i could make my powerpoint or video ( unsure which one) about? Was there any challenge or video that already has a lot of research behind it?
