I love it. Just watching that first completion to Kittle it occurred to me that I originally thought Purdy threw low because he was off balance. I think he threw low so he didn’t get Kittle blown up.

Agreed. A lot of times observers think Brock was "just a tad" inaccurate when it is typically because he is saving his receivers from getting blown up.

Chase mentioned that the throw was low b/c Jennings didn’t flatten out his route, making the catch point deeper than intended. Thus, low ball.

lol your take is ...totally utterly bullshit. He just happened to threw it low...I doubt it meant it, it just came out that way.. Not sure how you transition that to Purdy did it on purpose so Kittle doesnt get blown up.. Dude, Kittle was stationary and it was like 3 yard pass.

Purdy is the only QB who consistently get criticized for his completion when they aren’t picture perfect. The majority of his throws are laser guided dimes, so it surprises us when he’s a couple of inches off.

Brock is just elite. Simple as that. Ive seen defenses across the league throw the kitchen sink at Brock Purdy trying to throw him off and rattle him and it simply doesn't work. Brock game in and game out just picks apart defenses. The kid does not get rattled. Everything is on time and accurate. Its extremely impressive. A lot of these other "elite" Qbs around the league dont quite operate on Purdy's level WITHIN THE POCKET. And Brock Purdy does this with one of the worst rated pass blocking offensive lines in football. I believe they're ranked 22nd. As of today, Brock Purdy in his career dating back to last year, including the playoffs has a total of 565 passing ATTEMPTS. Thats the equivalent of most QBs league average a season...and with those attempts Brock Purdy has 5,128 passing yards, 42 TDs total and only 10 Ints. For those that dont understanding the significance of what im saying, check everyone in the league and how much they're throwing the ball. 550-700 attempts and Brock Purdy putting up Fuckin Drew Brees numbers with nearly 100 less attempts...fuckin mind blowing. Put some respect on Brock Purdy. #mvp

Thanks for this gem of a video, Chase and to put it out there for everyone to see is highly appreciated. It will certainly help influence a few who still think Brock is a product of the system. Brock is 3rd in the league in converting 3rd downs in the passing game at a rate of 47.5%. You have first hand experience that a NFL QB makes his money on 3rd down.

All the Purdy slander is coming from people who think the QB position is all mechanical about arm strength and accuracy. But there’s a reason Trey Lance is a third string in Dallas while Brock leads the league in QBR. Because it’s primarily about decision making. Weighing possible outcomes in a split second while 300 pound men try to kill you. The best compliment you can give Brock is that everything comes easy to him. Because it shows his ability to find the open man. And not force a decision leading to a pick. In every play there is a player who’s open. Might be for a split second or their third read. Players like Jimmy G never threw to players quick enough or in stride, and Kaepernick never looked pass his first read. It’s amazing how the subtle move from a safety can be all Brock needs to know his guy will be open 5 steps later.

I'm not in any way an expert at any level on the schemes and strategy of plays in football. Your analysis and explanations were great. You enabled me to better understand schemes on offense and defense and provided insight into the thinking of Shanahan and the execution by Purdy. There was another big thing I learned about Brock Purdy and Shanahan. People have said that Purdy is successful because of Shanahan's system: the offensive game plan, schemes, and play design; and because of his superstar teammates. It seems to me that not just any quarterback can successfully make the reads, progressions, choices, and execution that a quarterback for Shanahan must make. If a quarterback messes up on any small part of those four elements, neither Shanahan nor stellar teammates can make up for such mistakes. I don't think Purdy is merely a game manager, I don't think he succeeds just because of the system, and I don't think that just any quarterback can succeed under Shanahan's system. I think Purdy is smart as hell and has the skills required of a QB to execute the 9ers complicated offense.

Purdy isn't a system QB {all QBs run a system so it's redundant as an insult anyway}, no.. Brock Purdy IS the system and is perfecting his game. I can't remember the last time I've seen Kyle Shannahan smiling so much on the sidelines. And all the playmakers backups linemen exude the confidence of their QB on top of their own. It's been fantastic and a privilege to watch history in the making. The last time I got to see this happen as a 49er fan was 1980 when a young upstart QB out of Notre Dame came into the starting lineup. And that ended over 3 decades {before my gold blooded since '77 time) of nearly there's lackluster seasons and almost had its play. It changed the culture of a team to become a dynasty. Purdy's numbers against the blitz are almost unbelievable. Feels like '84

I love Kyle, and I’ve been an AVID supporter of his from this moment he came in 2017 and the FIRST team activity he put together! If you didn’t know or just don’t remember, he had U.S. Military instructors come through and take the team through literal Special Forces training. Special Forces as in Navy Seals/Green Berets/Army Rangers/Marine RECON… which is no joke! Basic Military Boot Camp is crazy. The purpose is to dehumanize each person by removing every single trace of individuality! The very concept of “ME, MYSELF, I, and YOU” is beaten out of you, and the lines between people are completely erased. The body of the individual is broken down; then the individual heart and mind are united on one accord. Special Forces training is something you won’t fully grasp until you’ve experienced it! And that foundation is responsible for what every single player who’s come through under this regime acknowledges as what separates the 49ers locker room from any other organization they’ve been in. The guys who leave the team (whether traded, released, or just not being given a new contract… and even when not being on the best of terms) STILL have 100% love and gratitude for the dynamic within the locker room. Business is what Business is. There’s a 7 round Draft every single year and an ever-changing salary cap. It’s literally impossible to keep the same roster two seasons in a row. But the core and the culture in the SF Organization are very unique.

Early in the season we were seeing this rapid development of processing in Brock, and except for a deranged few, that it was obvious Kyle had found a QB to match his scheme, really the only one since a late in career Matt Ryan. I commented at the time, that was wonderful, but that we didn’t really even know Brock’s ceiling. Guess what, we still don’t although it’s hard to imagine it getting much better. He’s still in an exponential growth curve of receiver nuance and option potential. He may even have got more athletic. Imagine the dearth of experience necessary to suggest that this young fellow isn’t real.

He has potential but definitely is NOT reading the defense and he’s definitely NOT going through progressions from one side of the field to the other. These are designed plays so his progressions run into his line of site or the plays calls for specific player, credit goes to the OC understanding his personal. He missed several hot routes/adjustments reads & a couple of TD’s on this film because he’s targeting the WR/TE/RB just a matter of time before he gets exposed if he does not develop his ability to read a defense. The overall NFL IQ has dropped dramatically over the past 10yrs allowing temporary early success for QB’s then they either fold or adjust. Only time will tell.

Dude. Dude. I say this with all due respect, and I mean ALL due respect. You have no idea what you are talking about. This must be the first video on Brock Purdy that you've watched. Go watch JT O'Sullivan, or Chase Daniel for literally every single other game that Purdy has played. I think you've been watching Mac Jones videos and mistaking them for Brock Purdy. You are literally the only person in the history of the world of all of mankind who has ever said this about Brock Purdy. The first. The last. The one and only.

@@cgreenqb6 it's okay to admit you don't know ball. You made up your mind that "he's not that good" and you're doing everything in your power to hold onto that belief despite significant evidence of it being wrong. That's called cognitive dissonance. You should work on that.

…mmmmkay. What you don’t get is their plays can either come together or fall apart in a matter of seconds, they don’t have all the time you have to dissect their plays 1week after the fact. So I personally don’t give a shit what you think.😂
