I’ve watched a lot of your videos. They are great. I’ve gotten all of my travel buddies hooked on you too. I have to say, this was one of your best. The reason is I could follow along on my iPad and do what you did. My buddies and I are all between 70 and 85. We started traveling together about 5 years before we retired. Until I found your Amtrak videos we were doing everything “blind.” Not we have a kind of bright path to follow. Thank you so much!

I am positively GOBSMACKED. This video is absolute gold. Thank you for sharing this information! I'm subscribing to all of your channels. Do you ever meet up with ex-pats in the area or do you mainly keep to yourselves?

Thanks! We've made many friends along the way, so if we happen to be in the same city we meet up quite often.

3-4 thousand a month for two people. Quite a few people are not part of a couple if you can quote prices for single dwellers. Plus 3-4 thousand a month for 2 isn’t cheap. I’m interested in low budget but decent options.

African American women here! Love Palermo, in fact, married to a man that was born and raised there. The people are wonderful. Italy as a whole, has that live-out-loud vibe I love. Sicily is a little bit low-key. But many Siclians will tell you, they're Sicilia first, Italian second.😆

Nice list, especially the geographic diversity. You could obviously do a top 10 only in SE Asia, but that's a little repetitive. I have to disagree with Palermo. If you want to stay in Sicily, Catania is much cleaner and it's close to Mt. Etna and Taormina.

Mostly Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand will come under this budget. The key is to stay away from the center or main points of interest. Certainly doable by exercising due diligence, the total spending can be kept under 1200 dollars a month.

Great video. Places we had not considered. How long do you usually stay? And airfares must be a challenge. How do you plan that?

Can you please do cities which do not require us to use a car? While using car for occasional long distance travel in places like Italy is ok, I would like to avoid using cars and use public transport. Looking for restricting slow travel to only those areas which allow us to be without a car. Or please mention based on your experience in that city you are referring to, how well we can manage our lives if we don't have a car. Thanks for your input.

It can be done, especially now with the weak yen. A city like Osaka is a good option.

We did Osaka last year and the housing was about $1,300. It was small though, so it doesn't really compare to the other places. We are going to try it this year using hotel points, so we will see how it goes. Once you get past the lodging, Japan relatively inexpensive.
