On the exhaust mods... I hope you know that each state has it's own set limit to when emission inspections are no longer necessary. For example, in North Carolina, if your car is 20 years old or older, your emission inspection is void, allowing you to do whatever the hell you want with the exhaust. Each state is different, so check the laws for your state.

NC inspection depending on the location does not inspect the exhaust, however the inspection process does a visual check to see if it's there. So a cat delete that mimics the look of a cat may pass visual inspection and be "fine", they are just not going to test it.

One thing I don't like is the ultra super bright lights even when they're in the dim mode and in blue color is even worse , and people who don't aim the headlights the right way instead of all over the road that's just stupid , same with the hyper white lights if you're going to use them in them properly and don't aim them up towards other drivers specially oncoming drivers ,and it's been known that some drinks drive in to lights .

The reason the radar detector laws are convoluted is because a radio receiver is governed by the FCC, a federal agency, rather than the local state. A state can not regulate a radio receiver as it is not within their constitutional jurisdiction. As such, the laws banning such devices are convoluted to circumvent the constitutional limitation.

What they CAN regulate is the use of devices while operating a vehicle, which is what most states ended up doing

As soon as you decide which frequencies are banned to receive, you are no longer banning just the use of a device, but are regulating specific radio frequencies, which is outside of their jurisdiction.

In case you are not aware, the low riders us pneumatic, or air pressure to lift cars. Hydraulic systems use high pressure oil, usually for heavy lifting large weight.

Get a pre 1975 truck/car to avoid emission/smog laws. Get a pre 1970's truck/car to avoid bumper laws. Get a pre late 20's early 30's car for having the least laws to follow. Ie. open wheels, no exhaust , open engine bays ect ect.

Excellent ideas! I love my 1964 Mustang for that reason. Also had '64, '65 and '69 Chevy trucks, '73 Dodge truck and '66 Beetle. No smog laws or other things like airbags and shoulder belts. Another vehicle that tends to escape many laws-motorcycles. My Harley is a 1999 but no cat on the exhaust or other such equipment.

I run premix total loss oiling with a VRO pump and any 572 CID converted poppet valved 2 stroke oil at a WOT at over 8200 rpm, Not much rpm compared to its 4 stroke version. A ported 2 big block 2 cycle can run much lower rpm than a modern 2 stroke with runs 32:1 at richer premix and will not burn up even thought the light duty high poppet valved loop charged hemi 2 stroke hemi requires me to burn more oil at 32:1. This poppet valved 2 stroke loves a higher rpm with a metering pump derived rpm an RX-7 annd a good smack in the ass now and then, She Hates Klots but loves silkolene as she is a temporamental nut that craves attention, i just giver her what she needs at 8400 rpm or more, i learned to live with poppet valved loop scavenged scavenged 2 stroke! My girlfreinds POS masada she has on amsoil dominator and thinkds that is the best, it is at times but boy its can be costly filliing her up, EMD and Detroit 2 cycle shell rotella anyone.Ugh my 8v92 drinks some low ash 2 stro0ke oil, Its a black hole.

Yeah dry sump with a few VRO pumps is aa nutty puppy that will burn any premix ratio for a loop charged big block, mobile1 to amsiol dominator synthetic like my girl uses in here RX-7 turbo. I've once heard about a type of custom made carburetor that can increase gas mileage up to about 80 to a hundred miles per gallon. And if it really exists, then that would be made illegal too as gas and oil companies would take a huge hit if every car had one.

I had two older Dodge vans with the 360 engine and stock four barrel carb, a well known fuel hog. Dodge IMO had crap carbs, thank god they discovered fuel injection. However changing the single exhaust to dual gave a 20% increase in mileage without even changing the stock headers. Now of course you would have to deal with the catalytic convertor making this more expensive.

Texas law says that an engine cannot emit visual smoke continuously for more than 10 seconds. So a little puff during your turbo lag is fine but persistent overfueling is not

In Europe, most of those are even more strict. For example - tinting windows allowed only up to certain % and also omly rear windows. After done it must be "checked" and lets say certified/approved (you receive paper). Lowering/lifting the car.. Not allowed - if done, vehicle check and aporoval/certification necessaey etc (first review of technical papers of the installed parts (if they are suitable for the car and have been approved (TUV) and then car check by authority). Always aditional cost. Therefore this clip does not sound that problematical :)

Hell around here you can drive around with no tail lights, no brake lights, and glazed over headlights, and the LEOs won't even bother pulling someone over, but if you have a sportscar, muscle car or loud exhaust they'll bug all day, even though the Harley's going by have drilled out baffles or no mufflers.

I've had a red-to-green start at intersections with one of those "rolling coal" next to me. Him: 4WD pickup truck, size of a F250, probably a 5- or 6-liter V8. Me: an in-line 4-cylinder 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine hooked up to a CVT transmission with manual paddle over-ride. In TWO starts (not just one), I managed to get 1.5 car-length ahead of him by the time I stopped accelerating. Probably ~35mph by that point; I had just switched from 1st to 2nd gear ratio on my CVT in both instances. It was fun getting the pickup truck guy all worked up. 😁 (And yes, he was really trying. If he wasn't expecting it on the first one, he was REALLY trying on the 2nd one - you could hear from the way he rev'ed his engine on the start.)

In Maryland I never had issues with my low rider as long as I had street rod tags. Having those tags you can legally able to modify your car in any way, to get those tags your car had to be at least 25 years old. Before I purchased the street rod tags I would get repair orders on a regular

Nitrous cannot turn anyone or anything into a giant Barbecue. Nitrous oxide is a powerful oxidising agent ONLY under high temps and pressures. As someone who has used it for many years (and used to provide refills to people going to the local "Santa Pod"), I can say as a statement of fact, it is not only NOT flammable but you can even use it (in an emergency) instead of a CO" extinguisher. Good question. The nitrous oxide when subjected to very high temps and pressures DOES break down into nitrogen and oxygen (two parts nitrogen, one part oxygen), the oxygen then allows the ADDITIONAL fuel that is injected in along with nitrous to burn. Meanwhile the nitrogen both limits the flame front speed AND also cools the charge ready for combustion too. The reason we do not inject oxygen into the engine instead of nitrous is that the flame front is then WAY to fast and instead of getting controlled combustion, you get detonation. By happy chance, nitrous oxide is and excellent way to force in extra oxygen along with the extra fuel. But to recap - the nitrous oxide will not break down into its component parts except under high temps (over 300C) and pressures. Other than that, it can indeed be used to extinguish flames - though not exactly an approved extinguishing device :) Remember that when nitrous comes out of the cylinder, the refrigeration effect tends to drop the temp down to around -75C that along with chasing away the air, will put out most "oily rag" type fires instantly.

Air is about 21% oxygen, N2O is rather more (there is one oxygen atom per two nitrogen atoms). You are spot on with your comment about lower octane fuel pre-combusting though. Most nitrous cars tend to use eith er a dual fuel supply (regular on all the time but then the additional injector for a "wet" nitrous kit being perhaps a mixture of regular petrol and also toluene. Mind you, a lot of folks forget that nitrous oxide works BRILLIANTLY well in diesel engines too - and diesel engines are stronger by design so there is even more of a safety margin when it comes to cylinder head pressures etc.

It doesn't burn at all. It's an oxidising agent. You need to add both nitrous *and* more fuel - if you just add nitrous you'll end up with way way more oxygen than you need for the fuel, making the engine run lean and damaging it.

I actually deleted catalytic converters, mufflers and EGR valve from my truck and still pass emissions. The trick is true dual exhaust. It's a 4.9L straight 6 engine. The exhaust manifold is actually set up almost like a V style engine with half of the cylinders in 1 and the other half in the other. I just came off each manifold individually straight into exhaust stacks on either side of the bed. The emissions test machine inputs the exhaust as a 6 cylinder engine while only physically reading off if 3 cylinders. LOL. Passes every time and it's a 1994.

All the cops have to do is annotate on the ticket that a radar detecting device was visible in your vehicle and your insurance company can drop you. Because ultimately, what is a radar detector for? To avoid speeding tickets or law enforcement.

that mostly depends on the state and county. here in Texas you'll see a lot of pickup trucks with light bars all over the place. as longs as they are not using them while driving down the road police don't fuck with them. Also another note about the whole loud stereo. The rule of thumb is if the car next to you can hear it then it is too loud. Just use some common sense really. If you are in a neighborhood turn that crap down. If your flying down the highway no ones gonna give a damn..

Nitrous oxide is an inert gas. It is used, in conjunction with extra fuel, to super cool the intake charge, thereby tricking your engine into thinking its supercharged. It DOES NOT BURN. If anything, IF the bottle ruptures in an impact, it will aid in fire suppression. It also looks badass when your poorly constricted engine grenades all over the road.

Sadly, more than half of the modifications you cited should never be illegal because the excuses that created the regulations are to restrict changing the vehicle and to increase revenue generating opportunities for the government that are definitely not morally correct in any type of ethical argument. A lot of these things aren't actively enforced. For example, in Florida it is illegal to modify an exhaust system in any way, or for a diesel to emit visible emissions for more then a few seconds. But cops usually don't care. Unless you run into that one cop that didn't get any that day, so because their day sucks, yours is going to also.

Most of these are actually legal in every state. Radar detectors are legal in every state except Virginia and D.C. Exhaust mods are legal as long as they meet state and federal emissions standards. Aftermarket head and tail lights are legal as long as they meet state and federal DOT standards.
