Chandon Brut, from the French owned California winery is a great deal. $22 on sale. In general, cava sparkling wine from Spain will have great varieties at good prices. $6 to $25

If you are not sure of fountain pens, and want to try them, buy a Jinhao 911, looks cool, all metalic with black plastic where you hold it. For someone who does not care, or does not have the knowledge or fine eye for fountain pens writing quality, this one is great, and it costs less than 3 USD. It even has a hooded nib if you are insecure of using them in public.

For Scissors really go vintage. Used ones, completely made of metal are usually of much higher quality and are easy to maintain and resharpen. I use two I inherited from my granddad. They work like new and much better than anything you can find in a store today. And with knives any knive with a straight edge and good blade will be able to cut tomatoes effortlessly when it is just sharp enough. To me it is an essential gentlemans skill to know how to effectively sharpen a knive to that level even if he has nothing but the bottom of a porcelain cup as a sharpening tool.

Shave with Proraso shaving soap. $10 per bowl on Amazon, but will last well over a year. You’ll have to get a shaving brush to get started, but it makes shaving SO much better even if you use a disposable razor. MUCH better than shaving cream or gels.

The thing with Champagne is that, even if all recognized Champagne wines have their origin and quality certified, many brands across the world use the traditional method and have a quality-heavy, and many regions of the world have a similar terroir. For example, one of the best terroir for producing sparkling wines is the south of Brazil, though that isn't very well-known.
@nox55555 жыл бұрын
alot of champagne is low quality with a very high price. its all from a smallish region and they often have to use low grade grapes. if you want a good sparkling wine without spending alot of cash, get premium sparkling wine from other regions.

Hate to tell ya, sparking wine is wine that's been capped when in the fermentation process. It's been around longer then 400 years.
@Ekigane5 жыл бұрын
To be fair, he wasn't talking about sparkling wine in general. He was talking specifically about Saint Hilaire Blanquette De Limoux because it has a flavor similar to champagne. To some people this would imply it's a knock off of champagne. His point is that because this brand is older than Champagne, it is not a knock off. It is also has some historical interest, especially since it's still cheap.

Here in the California wine country (Napa) we have a brand called "Two Buck Chuck" which is excess high quality wine which has been rebottled. This helps limit the supply of the "high quality" wine without dumping the excess. At wine tastings here in the valley sommeliers will often set up tastings where Two Buck Chuck is pitted against well known wines. Once the joke is revealed they will make comments about people who taste the price tag rather than the wine.

I do like St. Hilaire - I do notice a difference between a Champagne and a Blanquette de Limoux wine - Champagne and again it depends on producer or cuvee - will be Pinot, Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay - a Blanuquette de Limoux is mainly Mauzac and a bit of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc--so each wine will taste different. There is no substituting a Champagne for Limoux or the other way around--they do taste differently.
