This is great content. I'm not big on psychology but I can see how a few of these can be helpful to keep oneself in check mentally. Thanks for this video and please keep posting :)

Great advice, I use most of that in my daily job. Great reinforcement. Suggestion, list the other 5 whether it be in the description or at the end of the video. Your title said 10, you only covered 5....make it 10. Glad to see you back!

Yea, good point, I put all 10 in the description.

Four out of five is good advice. No. 1 - check No. 2 - check No. 3 - check No. 4 - check No. 5 - accept defeat gracefully? over my dead body!😄

@Dave Something kind of odd about these commandments are that they are pretty much applicable to any job in any field, right? I understand the focus is on soft/non-technical skills but these just seem a bit too general and not very programming-specific, wouldn't you say? For example it feels like you could have the golden rule (do onto others as you wish to be done to you) and it wouldn't be out of place on this list.
@DaveXiang4 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes these are good rules of thumb for any profession. These lessons are only good in balanced doses. If you only listen to this, it won't be very helpful. If you only read purely technical books, it also won't be very helpful. As I briefly mentioned, it's tough for content creators to create content that is catered very specifically to what you are expecting. But you're lucky to be able to access pretty much any resource you need.

Due to corona effect company is firing the employees and I am one of them but after discussing with them they put me in PIP process now for a month so can you please let me know what is the best way to come out of this process. Because I know they don't have a strong point to take this decision but no one can do anything cause company and management is big I have to accept it anyway. They have just one point that is logical reasoning and I don't think so that is enough to take this big decision isn't it? I am so frustrated please guide me. I also got so many suggestions that I should also not work in this company now where they don't have value of employee.
@DaveXiang4 жыл бұрын
Hey, these are tough times. You never know the state of the company and its finances. Many big tech companies had layoffs recently, AirBnB, Lyft, etc. The best advice I can give you while you're on your PIP is to keep in constant communication with your manager about what he/she expects from you and how you need to show the relevant skills you need to keep your job. Managements owe it to you to be clear about what they need to see from you. If they are not clear about it, they are not doing their jobs well. If they are purposefully vague, it is possible they are doing the PIP only as a formality to make sure things are documented before they let you go. I've seen this happen unfortunately. Firing an employee is a long process (at least in the USA) and it must be well-documented and have a sound reason. I don't know what company you work for, but at this moment I would consistently talk with your boss, determine what exactly you need in order to to exhibit "logical reasoning", and keep a positive attitude. Good luck
