Regarding the Chozo language bits: Chozodian makes heavy use of suffixes to add context to words, so ORO and OROMEL are very likely different contexts of a similar term. Some theorize that "ORO" refers to simply "lift," as a sort of unbound contraption, while "OROMEL" is a static, land-based lift contraption. There's an entire community built around studying the Chozo language, and they've made remarkable strides in this regard.

@@oldkefka Current evidence points to middle-eastern languages as the primary inspiration for Chozodian, and any parallels with Spanish are coincidental. In the files, Ker and Rem are referred to as "chozo_five" and "chozo_seven" respectively. Ai might mean "one", considering how "aimar" means "once", among other examples I don't remember atm I speculate that oromel is "updown", which would be very funny. Also, in-game, the last elevator only goes up, and all you see is "oro". The very last Adam briefing was supposed to be in Chozo, and apparently Raven Beak says "oro" in it, which apparently was supposed to mean "up"

The common trend of relationships today is that you should just get divorced and walk away, but It Takes Two puts a giant middle finger to that philosophy and teaches that marriages are worth fixing. I feel the same way about God of War 2018, how it pushed against the common trend of dad's being deadbeats or clowns that can't be taken seriously, and gives you a man with a brutal past who just wants to settle down and be at peace with his son.

Mercury Steam has gone a long way. Working for Nintendo really does seem to force developers to fit into a certain level of quality and detail-rich subtelties even though the hardware is pretty limited. Guess that's why they've been around for so long. At this point it's kind of hard to believe that they are the same people who worked at Clive Barker's Jericho, which is this... kind of unremarkable shooter.
@Hysteria983 жыл бұрын
To be fair though, it was apparently MS that challenged Nintendo to make a new Metroid in the first place. Sakamoto literally left the series to die because he didn't end up with a console advanced enough for a better AI to develop the SA-X concept from Fusion.

While my opinions of Dread's overall graphics and sound design is 'mixed' to say the least, I do have to give them credit when it comes to a lot of the small details. The portrayal of Samus in particular seems like a perfect merger between her attitude as the lone, quiet ,and experienced bounty-hunter from the Prime games and the over-the-top acrobatics of Other M. It's a shame that the world of ZDR just feels so uninspired, particularly the 'technological' environments; the various labs and research stations all look very man-made, as if the Galactic Federation could have built all of it. It just doesn't evoke that same atmosphere of a truly ancient and 'alien' world like Super Metroid did with Zebes, or even the Prime games with Tallon IV, Aether, Elysia, Urtraygus, etc. And while the background elements do look pretty cool and exceptionally detailed at times, they often clash with the game's actual level-design, which feels messy, random, and maze-like simply for the sake of being confusing. I also feel that the decision to present much of the rooms as 'interconnected', on the same screen, actually detracts from the atmosphere as it just looks too 'gamey' - as if you are looking at an ant-farm.
@ziggystardust70013 жыл бұрын
While I do agree that the level design kind of dictates the games art style and environment design, I might have to disagree with the sound design. The game is brimming with great sound effects, audio, and jingles throughout the whole journey. And while the soundtrack is the weakest in all the 2D entries, it still does it’s fair job to set in the atmosphere, especially in the emmi rooms whenever one of the robots are still on patrol.
