And I have to admit that I have been guilty of some of this in the past so I guess I have to laugh at myself too. I guess the two inch leg press does have one benefit....it allows you to get caught up on those phone messages...haha. Scott called them bad/crazy exercises. Jeff not only does some of them but will explain WHY and just what it's targeting (when done with proper form). Hence people pointing out that a few of these exercises have valid use. I mean when talking about that behind-the-knees thing he ends up calling ALL Triceps Kickbacks useless which is flat out false. He can prefer other exercises, but that doesn't make the Kickbacks useless.
@johnwig2855 жыл бұрын
Its funny how u seem to kind of deny that some of these exercises DO have benefits in them. Just because something looks abnormal, doesnt negate their usefulness. Sure, some ppl are entrenched with bad form when it comes to tricep pushdowns thinking that by doing that they are isolating their chest, but for those who are knowledgeable when doing it, what was demonstrated incorporates ur chest into the exercise. So ntg wrong with that.

Remember Jeff also has many followers training at home with a set of adjustable dumbbells and a bench. Those people need kickbacks for getting full contraction of the triceps behind the body. Dips do that to a certain extent too, but he tries to provide their fans with a wide variety of exercises, and offers tweaks to them to make them more effective and safe instead of saying "just use cables" and eliminating them from his routines. Hell, he even recently added the old school broomstick twists into his routine. Elimination of an exercise proves a trainer's laziness or lack of knowledge. How many exercises has Jeff told his followers to avoid? Upright rows, leg extensions, sissy squats, I can't think of many. And instead of these, he offered many alternatives that don't require much equipment.

Similar to fake-out leg press, I have seen a guy do several working sets of squats with 225, then load it up to 275 as though the 225 sets were just warm-up, then walk away never to return. 1) barbell seated curl - allows you to isolate bicep short head with slow eccentric movements going down. Not targeting the long head of bicep so ROM does not matter in this exercise. 2) That movement is not a triceps push down. Its a chest exercise that targets the lower chest. 3) This allows you to get more stability and working out the core more. As long they are switching each other so they don't develop muscle imbalance Its something that could be helpful to athletes ( I like doing this with dumbbells single arm press ) 4) Similar to floor cable pull down. ( This is a good exercise target the latz with good form ) 5) as long they added lateral, lower and middle abs exercise for ROM This exercise could help with Progress over load. ( just like when you see someone dead lifting a 1 RM. ) 6) Targets the Triceps Nothing wrong with it, as long you keep your chest up and getting full ROM. ( you should've kept your chest up in this video for that exercise you were doing this wrong. ) Ive seen this done before in other gyms 7) Agree 8) This type of exercise is good for people with ACL, PCL tears trying to recover. its also good help with people with nuro development from lower spain to the lower legs with weight R. 9) 21 Bicep curl - allows blood flow and recovery in the muscle. Again like number 1 - it targets the short head and then it targets the long head with over load. 10) agree, This is something that cause knee problems. 11) If he was pressing on the weight ( it would be call Isometric leg press ) Personality I have to say you're making fun of people doing real exercises, I think you should do more research M.S Human performances

@@rossMIE Scott focuses on a balance of optimal exercises for the common gym-goer. Even if uneven bench press is useful, it is a useless exercise for most people who are training for aesthetics. There are better exercises. There are better tricep exercises. You are way better off doing incline curls or standing ez bar curls for hypertrophy and using your core than sitting and half-repping. See my point friend?

A lot of physicians would strongly disagree that seated barbell curls and 21's for biceps are useless exercises. It all boils down to how you incorporate them into your routine. And while the uneven bench isn't optimal for even chest growth, it's an excellent core and stability exercise. As for the rest of the movements... no argument there.
@chickflickone6 жыл бұрын
I do 21 at the end and given the way my biceps look, I think it is doing a fine job. Actually what I do is 10-10-10 because why not. All the rest I'd agree.

@johnwig2855 жыл бұрын
of all the exercises demonstrated, the ones recommended by AthleanX arent retarded. just because it looks abnormal from the standard form doesnt negate its usefulness. obviously shit like benching with imbalanced weight is stupid but that isnt even by him. but doing seated barbell curl is like doing 21s, just because someone does it seating down instead of the usual standing up 21s scott was quick to jump to conclusion that it is useless. the pushdown too was for chest, it has been specifically mentioned to be used as a movement that involves both ur chest and triceps hence elbow flaring.

@@ericrobbins6418 Well, I think the ultimate exercise that surpasses both of them is the clean and jerk. But weightlifting takes a lot of effort to learn. I am a 33 year old man who took up powerlifting at the age of 30. Injured sciatic nerve, limping around. Started with airsquats, progressed to the bar. Now 350, aiming for at least a 400 squat. So I am not impressive by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I really aspire to be, I just want a decent foundation of strength. But if I was young and started lifting from scratch and had the patience to train with a broomstick for two years, working on perfecting technique, I would choose weightlifting! Weightlifters are MONSTERS! Their explosiveness and strength impresses me way more than even the strongest powerlifter!

#2 is for your lower chest. not tricep workout at all
@ScottHermanFitness6 жыл бұрын
My bro... #2 is not good for lower chest. Its a terrible position for your shoulders to be in and the amount of weight required to overload properly is much more than you would be able to press down without your feet coming off the ground. You would be much better off with a decline press. Hope that helps! 🤗

4:27 You need to do your research for this exercise. It's one of the hardest triceps exercises because it ensures that you arms are behind your back (you were doing it wrong, sarcastically I assume), which works your longer tricep head more than the other two heads. Also you can't assume that *everyone* can do skull crushers because it puts some sort of strain on the shoulder joints, for many people, including me, this exercise is impossible without breaking my arms. Behind The Knee Tricep extension feels *much* more comfortable and activates my triceps way better. Also this exercise was introduced by *Athleon X* and he gave all the reasons why this exercise is great, as I mentioned, having your arm behind your back, working your longer tricep head... etc.
