I just purchased bitwig after years of messing with Logic. And I never been more inspired to create. Bitwig is gold.

When I first tried it I was impressed on how fast I found a proper creative workflow. I know is subjective, but for me it was the best.

@@AlexReidStudios same here. That’s what hooked me in. It felt like the engineers of the program did everything they could to make this a producer and mixing tool. Which makes it super fun to work with. Everything you think it should do it does. Really impressive.

4:24 "more noisy", but not always in a good way :-) One thing the wavetable LFO is missing, I think, is a smoothing knob. There's one in Phase Plant for a reason. In the grid there's an easy workaround, you can add a Lag or an Avg device to smooth out the modulation. But outside of the grid, it's just noisy :-)

Her ya. Can you provide a little more detain on how you made the one synth song. I am interested to know which parts of the synth you connected to the modulatators

Sure! For kick and snare I did the same, just that the snare is tuned higher and has a shape with more harmonics. Basically I have to almost identical Segments, one controls the pitch (for the punch and transient) and the other is the gate. The first is snappy, the second is not. The bassline was programmed on Segments making sure I had 12 horizontal lines and modulating 12 semitones, keeping them in the same scale. Finally the melody is the same but I added a second Segments to give it a plucky sound and then a not so plucky sound.

You could probably also use the dc offset with the wave table mod.

have you tried using it to modulate things you aren't "supposed" to modulate? like song bpm or time signature or anything weird like that? im not sure how it works in bitwig, but i know the equivalent in FL is one of the ways to make non native vsts do what you want them to even if they are fighting you.

I believe you can, gotta try it with something like Pigments, where not everything is modulatable.

The number of possibilities is huuge... and be honest: Do you want to make music? Yes, you do? Then you will, most likely, try out something and... make it sound like you want - and that's it. Although it's amazing to know all these possibilities: This is stuff for sound design and o n l y for that. And even this is something, which is worth to be saved as presets... but do you guess, how a collection of presets will look like after even a short time span...? It's like for other devices in Bitwig Studio: If someone wants to produce, (s)he will begin with simple solutions and work her/his way towards more complex ones. That's why ... I often see such presentations and... find them great, b u t from a perspective of somebody seriously in interested in producing it simply is a waste of time watching hundreds of hours of videos about such stuff. Videos like your one here can perhaps give some new aspects, one did not think about... but if someone is using Bitwig Studio for some time, this will not really bring completely new insights. And for the meantime one hardly will watch KZbin while producing, this said: Everyone will "include" the devices and methods available in a DAW/instrument/effect and will then "assemble" all those things remembered - period. So from me: Thumbs up for you effort and the video, b u t for the practitioner... this won't help really much - sorry to you newbies on Bitwig Studio, who will find my words sound like an insult, b u t even Alex Reid will agree, that from a producer's point of view my statements are way more realistic than an insult for him. Everyone interested in a DAW simply has to "grow" into it and "learn" it. And... everyone interested in sound design will get some knowledge about curve shapes, effects and the relationship to each other after some amount of time... which will make her/him know what to try out to get the desired sound. All you Bitwig Studio Newbies: Make your way, try out and don't forget to save your results as presets. By trying out you hardly will destroy something... as long as you never forget to put a Limiter at least to the master for experimenting, which should be set to a not too high value.... and if you use headphones and monitoring: Make the same on the used tracks. These Limiters should - under "normal crircumstances" not limit anything... but protect your devices and... your ears in case of ... "surprises". But ... as music is art: Look for inspiration, rather than people to lead by the hand everywhere you go.

Agree, but on the same idea different videos on KZbin are for different people. My aim is to explor sound design and also teach techniques. What I don't agree much is in saying this is for sound design only. I will probably use segments and curves a lot more than LFOs and envelopes now, easier to program and to tweak. Still, I get what you say and I agree that the important thing is to know your tools, beign any DAW or plugin

I like the info you provide, and appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos That said; I just want to share some criticism. A truthfull observation of the things that make your videos a bit of a hard sell for me. The mask, and the over-exaggerated hand gestures makes the entire video feel very disingenuous, almost like your trying to sell me on a new MIDI pack, and all the helpful details are just the lead-in to the pitch. I know thats not what you are doing (or maybe you are, i dont know), and I get that maybe its because you're shy, but it that case why do we need to cut to you at all? What are we gaining by taking the focus off what you are saying/demonstrating, just to watch you throw your hands around in an over-exaggerated manner? Also, the titles are creeping up on being in the "click-bait" category of titles, and are very easy for me to scroll past due to that reason. Again, it makes me feel that if i watch it, it's going to turn into a giant commercial by the end. We don't need wording like "you must try..." or "all you need to know about..." to make us watch a video, ya know? I get these are stylistic choices, and maybe i'm alone in this, maybe not. I do know that i personally skip over your videos due to those two reasons. Not trying to be mean, trying to be constructive. I will say based on what i have watched, i feel you could have a good channel here. Overall the videos look professional in quality, and I feel the tips in what i have watched has been solid. So no matter what, Keep it up!

Thanks for taking your time and write this on a respectful manner. I agree with some of your points, I need to move my hands less lol. The mask is a choice I won't give up for now. About the titles, sadly youtubers nowadays are "forced" to be clickbaity otherwise the platform doesn't show our videos

@@AlexReidStudios Hand gestures are by far the most distracting thing about your videos. I understand that without you showing a face, you may need to have some hand gestures, but it would be great if you can manage to scale it down to a natural level. Other than that, great production quality.
