Love this man for telling the honest truth. Do the LS conversion right and you won't have to do it twice. He is not over selling you on anything. I bought my LS3 EROD new with Magnu m 6-sp, harness and computer pre-tuned from chevy and was worth it. I must have a reliable ride and cannot afford issues, it has never been towed home.

Thanks! We've done at least 100 LS swaps! They're amazing when done right.

I’m down in Bakersfield. I’ve got a couple of step side trucks. One is an 1980 Chevy I’d like to put in an LS. How hard is it to get it tagged in California? Do you guys handle that? The other 1970 ford f100. Ballpark figure the difference between a crate 390 and a coyote crate install?

Would you have any advice for a C4 corvette? Or perhaps know a guy with advice? The C4 is a wild mix of old new and old technology and i cant quite figure it out
@gearheadgarageincАй бұрын
You're absolutely right. The C4 is a quandry. C5's have so much more to offer if you like the body style. Check out this website www.corvsport.com/c4-corvette-buyers-guide/

I know an LS three and goodies would be up to the owner, but if it’s a budget build, can you stay under 20 K with all the components and make a daily driver?
@gearheadgarageincАй бұрын
I'd say YES. If you grabbed a complete engine and trans for $6k, and spent another $4k or more on parts, you'd likely still have ample budget left to get it all installed, additional & parts & labor included.
@pscartozzi27 күн бұрын
Just buy a new crate motor dummy. Passed after that line.

I don't know why people would spend over $20k just to install a modern engine in a classic car. They came with classic engines that can be rebuilt or bought remanufactured. To complex, expensive and takes away from the original car. The last thing is you can't go to the auto parts store and order the original part because you got a mismatched engine and accessorys !!! Not worth it to me.

Double, triple the power, turn key , fuss free, smooth operation, 1/3 the fuel use! 🤷
@gearheadgarageincАй бұрын
That's the beauty of these cars - you can modernize or stay more stock - either way you still have a great ride!
@stephenhodge6441Ай бұрын
You don't have to spend anything near $20k. Also the engine runs better, makes easy horsepower and you can walk into any parts house and they will have the parts you need because most of the parts are the same as a million sports cars and trucks on the road today.

@@stephenhodge6441 Very true! LS related parts are readily available everywhere

@@jeffmiller3150 I have an old school motor and accessories. It’s nice, but I believe will always need to be tinkered with or parts replaced. You’ve made the best in my opinion with alerting that the fuel and gas prices is what’s really gonna have you driving your car less unless you do the LS.
@manuelzamora9288Ай бұрын
2 sides to this. 1. Upgrade to a new style engine, and if anything happens to them, its super easy to get parts for them. 2. Ifbyou decide to use an old school engine, the thought in the back of your mind is going to be, if you hurt it, the parts are going to be a bit more difficult to find.
