Not being choosy and using what we have with care - to allow and encourage ourselves to be grateful for what we have.
@mitdemherzensehenelfie17893 жыл бұрын
No. 9 is my job. I try to achieve regular meditation, but let myself be distracted by life again and again, but I know that meditation is good for me. I keep working on myself.
@tj53083 жыл бұрын
1. Generate peace by proper thinking, speaking and acting. 2. Don’t be choosy in what you eat. The purpose of food is to sustain the body, not to indulge in pleasure and fun. 3. Give up bad habits and develop good habits. 4. Think where and how you can do better. 5. Look at your conduct from the outside, from an ideal point of view. 6. Ask yourself, “How much more do I need?” You won’t be able to take all your possessions to the grave. 7. Remember about Karma. For every action there is a reaction even if no one sees you, and good actions bring positive results. 8. Think what good you have done today. Don’t forget that time is passing. Train yourself fast because our lifetime is limited. Do what is good now. 9. Live peacefully and quietly physically and mentally. Like you clean your body with a shower every day, set aside time for meditation in order to clear your mind from fear, worry, anger and other emotions. Let them settle down. This will allow you to see yourself, other people and the situation clearly and save you from trouble, chaos and conflicts. Be by yourself and let your mind rest even for a short while. 10. Improve your meditation each day. The goal is to train your mind to see yourself, other people and things clearly, to see the reality. The tool for this is meditation. Your mind should be peaceful. You should calm yourself from inside out, develop yourself. To become a loving, kind and compassionate person genuinely, your mind should be peaceful, bright and positive. Slowing down, getting still, looking at how you’re living, what you’re doing, coming to a stop, seeing things for what they are, becoming conscious, mindful and aware is a key to success. Otherwise, you’ll be always reacting the same way you used to.

Hello from Scotland Diana, I wanted to tell you I wish I had read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod when I was your age (although I wasn't as smart as you trying to build great habits at your age!) But I did at 40 and it was so simple I don't know why these things aren't taught in school!!! There is one especially for Teenagers. Check it out. Luv, Jane (PS I have nothing to do with this book, it just changed my life and saw your post and thought you might like to hear about it)

I'm very grateful for your channel. I've been wanting to quit my job quite a while because I'm not happy. My husband has some concerns but overall said I should do what I want. I wasn't able to make that final move and have been living in depression. I blamed it all on my husband, my job, my boss. Today something hit me. I am not living in alignment with my truth. I thought I'm doing it for others. But what I really should do is align my thoughts with my speech and action. I couldn't make the call to quit just now, but I decided to change my priorities. Instead of putting the job that's making me miserable first, I'm going to put what's truly important for me first.

Thank you brother. As a Christian, I interpreted your reflection questions for my own use. This is a prayerful and nourishing practice. Evening Reflection Questions 1. How were my thoughts, speech, actions? Alignment? Congruent? 2. Was I grateful for my blessings and not choosy for how blessings show up? Have I used my necessities with care and consideration or have I been wasteful? 3. What can I do to improve my conduct? What bad habits should I let go of? What good habits would benefit me? 4. How can I live tomorrow more like Christ? How can I submit my heart, mind, body, and soul to God’s will? How well have I lived the 10 commandments? 5. How can I love others tomorrow as I love myself? 6. How was I too attached today? What do I need to let go of attachment? How did I focus on Jesus more than my attachments? 7. How did I sin today? Confess and thank God for forgiveness through the death of Jesus Christ. 8. How was I the hands and feet of Christ helping others and reflecting His love to others? 9. If I died tonight, what legacy will I leave behind from today? 10. How was my mindfulness and meditative practice today? Was I present

Dear Ven. Nick: listening to U every day first thing in the morning, makes me start my day with a feeling that my heart was soothed and some more poison evaporated. So I am able to begin my day stronger and more able to face myself and the world, as is. I am a person with a "cracked" heart, with broken parts in it and in myself, ever since I remember myself. meeting U , is not virtual for me.It is a real experience of meeting a healing energy, your energy, that across space and time, helps me in my efforts to feel less pain. Thank U so much for your kindness and generosity. They work.

I think the 6th reminder I was able to grasp the most. We are not infinite beings, our time will come. We cannot take any of these physical possessions with us onto our next journey, but what stays in this world is the good that we do for others, the smiles and laughs we give to others. When you die, no one will speak about how much money you made, or what you owned, rather, they will remember you for the good that you brought upon their lives. We need to humble ourselves, and remember that we are not timeless.
@ides19592 жыл бұрын
Ven Nick, I have written gratitude lists before and somehow "Today...." seems to result in ease and delight in doing this, calling these 'gratitudes' to mind. Yes, stillness, slowing down. It is work, and not easy. Old habits of self-aggression, a mind that spins stories of retribution, seeing the habitual defensive and warring posture. Speediness, greediness. Suffering creating more suffering. Your speaking of becoming a monk from the inside: I ask myself more frequently, what do I want to create-more suffering? For myself or another? (I feel the fact that I can even remember to ask myself what my intention is is no trivial step-regardless of how well or clumsily executed.) More practice, with compassion. Thank you, with a grateful heart-

Thankyou Nick I am finding these talks really really useful. I am really struggling with a neighbour that is agressive, damages my property and basically triggers a lot of anger and negative thoughts. It's a real test for me. The neighbour has no sense of boundaries in any sense. I know ultimately we are all one nothing is really 'mine' when it comes to ownership of physical things. The only thing I own are my own thoughts and actions. I do not like thinking so negatively. I know it hurts me more than anyone else. I send peaceful thoughts to him but sometimes I just blow up as his behaviour has affected me since moving in 3 years ago. I have to find a way to live with this. It's not easy.

Thank you so much for those videos. Each information is so valuable I could never thank you enough. I find myself using my cellphone/social media less and less. I'm spending more time with the elders in my family and learning so much with them, having a great time with them. I learned to value that and to have more focus on the important things. I can't thank you enough for making me see that my family and friends are way more important than what is on a screen... It might seem obvious but being 19 I grew up in front of a computer and only having it for company shaped my childhood in a different way. So, by learning to live like people before me (by talking face to face, not being entertained by videos/posts all the time) made me feel refreshed. Like I never did before. The internet (in the way that I used to use it) made me anxious all the time. As for now, no internet drama all the time, no stressing over false numbers, no ignoring my family for social media. I am still trying to become my best self and I still fall for drama, but your guidance has led me a long way. Thank you for your teachings.

I recently finished gratitude and self love courses and this is helping me keep on learning and growing positively, and to continue exploring what purpose and life means to me. And it is helpful information, shared in a way that is enjoyable and somehow peaceful to consume. I'm so thankful and grateful for the simplistic way the information is shared as there can be a perhaps flamboyant or excessive way some self help gurus or books or otherwise convey information - using complex and fancy language, provoking a verbosity overload. This is the sixth video I've seen. Just watched a podcast on the Double Expresso channel here on youtube with a female monk (nun) and it was also very challenging, mind opening and helpful.

I wish food was purely sustenance for me. Instead, it's a comfort, a distraction, a best friend, and a worst enemy all at once 😂 Even though you view food as purely sustenance, Ven Nick, do you allow yourself to enjoy food that you would have enjoyed as a lay person? Or is that not okay/in line with the precepts? For me, it'd count as entertainment and substances that alter my mind lol

It is very simple if you think about it, whenever you consume things, is it done to distract yourself from stress? Is it done because you pursue sensual pleasure and delight in it? Or is it done simply because "there is hunger present and it's hard to concentrate"? You can eat whatever as long as it is ethically sourced, the important part is your "intent".

Bowie, I bought the book Eat to live which has been helpful. There is a recipe book as well that gives great simple meals. I find myself eating things I have never tried. They are delicious and my body is getting the needed nutritional value it needs( it breaks down its vitamin component)

Someone just liked my comment and I'm glad bc I forgot I'd said this and since then, I've start Intermittent Fasting (20:4), have lost weight, I feel loads better, and I'm wholly unimpressed by food now. I literally just try to get my fiber and protein, etc in during my eating window and I am no longer a food addict 💪 🏆 🎉 thank y'all for the good advice as well ☺

Your voice has been like meditation to me. Listening to you has really helped me. I now will concentrate on my brain. I am kind, I have compassion. But my mind hasn't been good because I have carried a lot of anger. The anger comes out because I may see an injustice toward me or a relative. I have carried a lot since 19 69 till now. My anger has not solved anything I fact made things worse. But after Listening to you I have learned how to start to be peaceful. I do not like an injustice. Ie lies or bad treatment. But I need to learn to not react. And your advice to think of how my life went today is excellent and learn from it. Many blessings sir and may you have all the nourishment you need and good health. Best wishes from Scotland.xxx

Ven. Nick, I'm so intrigued by your wisdom and deep insight. You speak so well, clearly and effortlessly. I have just discovered you as I lie in bed recovering from Covid-19 infection in Mae Sai. This is my 11th day. And I'm much better today than I was when the hospital ambulance brought me from home to the hospital. I am told I have recovered and will be sent home in a day or two. You are so blessed, I want you as my mentor.
