1.Take a shower (to clean and let go of the day) 2.Meditate (chanting and seating) 3.Spread love and kindness (training the mind to let go of bad, anger, and hatred) 4.All the good and pure energy that we cultivated/gather today..dedicate it to people you knew who passed away... share the good energy with them. 5.Reflection while staying neutral...how was your day?...think of all the goods and also bad to see any repeating patterns....how can you better the next day? 6.Before you go to bed think of all the goods not the bad/problems...feel proud with goodness you did and go to bed with that...be covered with that good energy like using it as your blanket...let that purify your sleep. ***from other video***: 7. Do not eat a heavy dinner right before bed...your body uses the energy to digest rather than to rejuvenate.

Summary: The evening routine can help you to start on a full tank tomorrow. This is for balanced, supportive living with a strong, healthy bright mind. Thank you Venerable Nick! 1. Have a cut-off (such as shower time) to come back internally rather than thinking about external responsibilities and the future. "Retreat" and stop thinking so much. Come to the present moment. Have a few hours of "shut-off". 2. Practice evening chanting and meditation to focus the mind and increase stillness. 3. Share loving-kindness with yourself. Dedicate good energy to yourself. Then dedicate it to others starting with your household, your town, your city, country and world. This will release any hatred or anger. Now you may dedicate this pure energy to your deceased loved ones. 4. Spend time for gentle reflection. What good happened today? What was challenging? Consider this from the self-perspective (behavior, actions, speech, interactions). See the patterns but practice looking neutrally as a way of self-study. 5. Sleep in a sea of merit. Do not think about problems in bed. Instead, recall feelings about good things you did during the day and the week. Be proud of your good merit. Sleep peacefully for a peaceful morning thinking about merit when you wake.

This is beautiful. I am Christian, but I learned a lot from your videos. I feel the Christian churches and teachings I’ve been a part of, they don’t spend enough time on self-help (although it could be argued a relationship with Jesus could overcome anything). I feel these teachings really helped me with practical ways on how I can better myself daily with practical ways that I could incorporate into my own beliefs. Thank you, and you speak very calmly and have a beautiful soul!

Welcome Christian brother and sister. I too am a disciple of Christ. To me Buddhism has offered me a practical, logical and actionable path on my journey to find God. To me it has added a deeper perspective on the parable shared in bible. In the end, I kind of discover that the underlying message is Love ❤️ It is love Christ died to save, it is love that Lord Gautama decided to turn the wheel of dharma. May all of us who are on the journey discover the light and blessed with the wisdom, health and resolute. May we all be at peace, free from enmity for living creatures big and small to those invisible beings. ❤️🧘♂️

As a Taoist Monk of 50 years...my training included three 1 hour sessions a day. Usually in the morning...afternoon...and at night. Included was acupuncture...Chi development...Tai Chi Chuan forms...and 30 minutes of Meditation. That was the routine. It basically came down to prioritizing what was important to your Spritual development. People...places...and things were cut from my daily Life...as they served no purpose in helping me down my Path. But...No Regrets. No a single regret. Everything I had done previously...lead me to where I am today. 🙏📿🙏📿🙏📿

My mind is so undisciplined, I find it wondering even when I am trying to watch self-help videos (like this one). My practices tend to change up and I'm happy to receive Nick's mindfulness tips. I wish you well!

@@marylusunshine I’m glad that you are kind and patient with yourself when it comes to dealing with ADHD. That can’t be easy to deal with. I definitely am trying to work on stopping the theater that is taking place in my mind when I have no reason to run various scenarios out. Show yourself love and love towards your family. 4, Reflection - Focus on the wins and where I need to better myself. 5, Sleep - Be grateful for all that has happened throughout the day. This was even more helpful to me than the morning routine (which I repeated today--yay!). I have struggled with morning headaches and tension/pain in shoulders and neck. But the shower, the meditation, the practice of loving kindness to myself, then others, the reflection on my day, the honoring my deceased loved ones, and then--maybe most significantly--the enfolding myself in the blanket of...what did you call them? my merits? "good" things--or maybe skillful things--I did during the day. I woke--for the first time in weeks--with no pain in my neck, shoulders, or head. this was very reinforcing and I plan to practice this again tonight! and my intention is to continue this and the morning practice! Thank you again! You are clearly doing the right "job" for you in the universe :)

I end up "cutting off" at 2100 and just let the sediment of my mind settle with a nice cup of tea in silence while sitting in my favourite chair. I find that's a good time to reflect on the day and evaluate how I acted and what I said to others too.

Thank you ❤ Buddhism truly humbles me. Everytime I’m in tune with the Buddhist mindset or follow rituals like that it brings me to tears. And this shows me how urgent I needed this in my life. I feel like I’ve been looking for a path for so long and nothing ever felt natural to me, like this is truly what I needed in my life. The routine of meditation and practicing love and kindness finally feels like this one recipe I was looking for. It’s like it’s filling a deep void within me. I’m so incredibly grateful to have access to all this information. I’m finally on the path of healing 🙏🏽

This is beautiful and perfectly timed. I'm struggling with my Ven Nick's Morning Routine 😉 and I see now that it's bc I end the day, at worst: negatively, and at best: scattered all over the place. So instead of spending my evenings cramming in documentaries until my mind is numb and my body follows, I'll wear myself out sending love and kindness to everyone, including me. Like counting sheep, but with more spiritual gain ☺ 🙏 Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu 🙏

Loved your Morning routine. Admiral William H. McRaven gave a commencement speech at UT at Austin 2014 about doing the first task of the day which is making the bed. Then move on to the next task. He said this will give you satisfaction/accomplishment for each task done. What a wonderful concept. Thank you for reminding us.

Yay, a night time routine! I'll say for the reflections point, I've been doing a mood tracking journal this year and I feel it's helped me. At the end of the day, I reflect on how I felt in the morning and afternoon/evening and write bullet points what happened. Then on Sunday night, I look through the week and think of what I could do to improve. Really helps me look back on situations objectively and understand my brain more. There's a lot here that could work well with me and get my brain in the mood to be tired. Trying out chanting with my morning routine so I think doing it at night too might help me get more used to it. Thanks for your advise and for your time! Have a lovely day!

This was such a good routine to wind down and settle the mind before bed. I usually read in bed until I'm so sleepy I can no longer stay awake. But I do keep my bedroom calm, clean, dark and cool so that there are no distractions there. Then I have a positive mantra I say to gentle myself into sleep, sometimes I count, but I will say one, over and over and over so it's a kind of chant, breathing through each one. I like the self reflection of reviewing the day and covering yourself with a blanket of positive thoughts! Thank you!
