Honestly, I can attest to some of these actually being the case. After I improved my wardrobe, people at work started taking me more seriously, and in fact it actually helped me command such an appearance within the company that I've been moved in to a position that involved traveling around the world interacting with clients! It's gotta start somewhere guys, why not the wardrobe?

Dress style was really important to me when I started work 30 years ago. I actually purchased custom fitted shirts and had my clothes tailored. I dressed well because of how it made me feel. I slacked off over the years because my wife always complained I dressed and looked better than she did. Then came the casual Friday movement, which leeched it's way to every day, and I became a part of that movement. Then I just started buying off the rack clothes that didn't fit well. A couple of years ago I ran across Antonio's channel, binge watched from the start of his channel, and as a result, have started to up my game. Since doing so, I've experienced a couple of situations mentioned in the video. I've had younger women sales clerks compliment me on my style, had a woman in a nutrition store hover around and then ask about my cologne, and been approached by an attractive woman at a concert. I so wish Real Men with Real Style would come back to the workplace. Says a man over 50...

Spot on Antonio, When I was in my 20's I attended my first managers meeting at a new job. It was a small company that just gone through a difficult period. I had always been taught to dress the part by my Dad. I walked in with what I thought would be the right look a sport coat and tie. All the other managers looked like they had just rolled out of bed. At the end of the meeting the owner put his hand on my shoulder and said there were going to be some changes. At the end of the year only one person and I were left from that original group. I always thought it made a difference.

This is very true and have tested this in real life once. I went to two different 5-star hotels on two different occasion. The first one I was dressed wearing t-shirt and jeans, came up to check in and I was basically ignored. It took quite some time and the service from the counter was not friendly, treated like a regular customer. The second week I checked in to another 5-star hotel dressed in suit and tie. What a difference, I was greeted like a special guest, calling me 'sir' , and so much friendlier service. The check-in employee also called out a guest service to carry my luggage which I did not have on the first hotel wearing just a t-shirt. Of course hotel service should treat their customers the same but there is really an effect to being well dressed.

I couldn't agree with you more! When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, people are drawn to you. I've gotten compliments from complete strangers on my shoes and the fragrances I wear. In the workplace, people ask me questions and actually listen to what I say. Every guy out there has something to offer and dressing sharp completes the total package. You don't have to be wearing a suit all the time, but a little effort goes a long way. It's all in the details, like proper fit, use of color, and an accessory here and there. Women, especially, pay close attention to detail. Plus, when your wife's friends smile and tell you, "Wow, you clean up good", you know you're doing something right. Keep up the good work, Antonio!

I've noticed since I've started putting more attention to my dressing, more men complement me for my styles, I've even experienced subtle jabs for others when receiving compliments on my attire. But also most people won't engage in conversation unless I start one, but the level of respect has been amazing. One thing, I've learned is that you might not be the best looking guy, but you can at least dress nice wherever you go. You owe yourself that.
@TimothyRCrowe5 жыл бұрын
This list is spot-on. Since I've began to dress well I've experienced all these side effects. I have both men and WOMEN ask me fashion and style advice (including my boss), which I find hilarious as before I was a logo t-shirt, running shoes and jeans guy always in a baseball cap. I made a casual statement in conversation at work that wrist-watches are now really just an accessory like jewelry, and a Lady that works for me started wearing a watch that was gifted to her from her daughter because... " Tim said watches are accessories now". People automatically treat me with more respect, but one negative thing is that people now assume I have a lot of money, and ask for loans, try to pitch ideas for me to invest in, and/or think I'll always pick up the check. its also true that people at work and other situations tend to defer more authority to me, and yes; the being hit on by women has been the most unexpected side effect. Keep in mind I'm a 300+ pound man who will soon turn 50, yet I've been hit on many times by much younger, attractive women since I started this gentlemanly look. I recently walked into a bar ( i was wearing a suit, waistcoat, pocket-square, boutonniere, one of my Hamborg hats and all the other gentlemanly accessories) just to have a drink and relax after work, and within 10 minutes I had TWO lovely professional-looking women come sit on either side of me ( First one, then a few minutes later another. They weren't together) and both began flirting and subtlety hitting on me and it soon turned into a weird, and to me somewhat uncomfortable, competition between the two of them for my attention ( I left without either of them , or their numbers). I've always had the confidence, charm and personality, but whether its a confirming statement to people's shallowness or not, it is obviously the clothes, the fit, the accessories, the grooming and the scent that is making a HUGE difference.

I laughed at multiple points here. Long story-short: Listen to this man, so much of this is true! I am 32yrs old, a Junior in college, and obtained a prestigious/competitive internship that began January 7th, ending in mid-March. I didn't know what defined "business professional" appearance. After hours and hours of Antonio and the Gentlemen's Gazette I was ready to spend some money, scouring eBay for luxury clothing and jewelry (cufflinks/watch) for literally 1/8th retail. Bottom line: I laughed at this video because I have first hand experience of these points being true - when previously I thought Mr. Centeno was a touch over the top! It's so fun dressing sharp! Cheers. Ps. I am married, which enhanced Antonio's humor. I've also been mistaken time and again as a Senator/Representative during these last weeks - Antonio is right, it's hard to stop someone and explain: "I'm an intern". Their face and body language can be a little awkward after that. (This is the "long story-short")

I’ve been watching these presentations on and off for years. And I appreciate the time and energy that is put into creating one. I’ve always been a proponent of strong presence and character making a first impression before clothing. I grew up very poor. I lived in the poorest part of town and was the poorest kid. Talk about getting slapped twice. I wore my hand me downs from my older sisters. Of which, most of their clothes were made by my mom. So, I had to develop a strong personality to avoid getting picked on and bullied. After years of schools and universities. I worked hard. Unbelievably hard to be where I am today. I was in the Steve Jobs mentality of wearing the same thing every day so I didn’t have to think about what I had to wear so that I could dedicate all my energy into, well, never being poor again. This, unknowingly, builds strength of character that shines beyond what any piece of clothing or how you are put together to attain what Antonio has mentioned in this video. I have bespoke Tom Ford suits that I will occasionally wear. Designer everything I could ever want. But my favorite attire has always been jeans, t-shirt and zip up jacket (day) or a sport coat (night) if it is cool out. Dress for the ladies? If you like. But I guarantee you that dressing to impress for women will get you the wrong woman. My wife fell in love with me when I wore yellowed white t shirts, sweat pants with bleach stains and Birkenstock’s with socks. She saw my character first and above anything else. I fell in love with her, not because she makes Angelina Jolie look like a homeless person. But because she also has an incredible strong character. Kind, generous and thinks of others before she thinks of herself. We don’t crave attention because it comes to us. In fact, we draw so much unwillingly that we have plan on how to be not noticed. Restaurants will put us in a shielded part of the establishment. We request separate plane boardings, we have assistants get us our Starbucks etc. This is the irony of attention. The more you get. The less you want it. Now, I am not saying to appear like a homeless person. Absolutely not. There is a social contract on what is acceptable. Be neat, clean with good personal hygiene. Hopefully, there will be a time in everyone’s life where they can see the character of the person rather than make decisions based on externals.

I concur on all points presented. I worked in law enforcement for many years, of which part was working as a field agent in probation/parole. On one occasion I arrived early for a meeting with a judge. One of the secretaries in the office began providing me information on "my new office". When I explained to her I was the new agent assigned to that district, she became flustered. She said, "I'm sorry. I thought you were the newly elected judge. I've never seen an agent dressed to the 9's before." Her reaction confirmed dressing sharp was a substantially wise investment.

(These guys ALWAYS look in charge, and like they're going somewhere) So I started watching video after video to find the ins and outs of putting together outfits with skill. After afew months of buying nice but reasonable dress shirts, pants, shoes, it has made a big difference. But what I didnt expect was how cold the water would be to jump into. This past weekend, I put together a nice outfit that included the first sport coat I bought just afew days ago. I ended up taking it off once I got to the place I was going because I didn't have the balls to wear it at the event. I'm definitely NOT giving up, but looking at how great people look in these clothes, I didn't expect I'd feel the anxiety to up my dressing game as much as I did. It feels almost like a costume for me at this early stage of the game. The mental aspect of trying something so new is the most challenging thing for me now. Can't wait to get work up the courage though!

I’m a woman. I received a how to be a lady book when I was young. In it, it said that at first you will feel like you’re acting in costume, but with time you will be comfortable. It is so true! It becomes normal (and those closest to you become used to it). Post Covid and weight gain, I’m dressing up again. I wear dresses and I feel like I’m over dressed. I just need to remind myself that everyone else is underdressed for a party. Wearing a big sun hat is when I hesitate. I hope you’re still dressing up 5 years later!

@@nicegurl408 It’s interesting to hear a woman’s perspective on this, it’s comforting to hear that you go through the same rough patches when dressing up. It’s extremely uncomfortable wearing a dress shirt and pants with a tie and having my friends and family ask me “what’s the occasion?” when I don’t really have a good answer ready, because it may be misinterpreted as me being a “show off” when in reality I’m just trying out a new style…

I do wish there were more showing of..well more guys like me who aren't quite as fit though..when all the well dressed men you see are thin and fit it makes guys like me who aren't as fit for whatever reason but want to dress sharp feel like we shouldn't..like it wouldn't be right to do it because we're not as fit as all the other guys who wear nice suits and cloths.

Thanks to your channel I wear suits daily now. I owe you huge gratitude for the large and in charge video. For the effects, I noticed the following. 1: half true. Never happened, likely cause I'm still fat though. But... I never was rejected either. And yes I dared asking. I always had enough confidence - I'm not _that_ fat either, but it got refined thanks to dressing up. They do check you out shamelessly. I love that. (and women too, don't let them fool you) 2: put in charge? True. Before I put myself in charge, now others do it for me. It makes it easier. 3: doing more what I say? No difference. 4: expected to charge more? Haven't noticed anything of the sort (yet). But I still don't live for money. Suiting up is cheaper than ever and off the shelve with minor made to measure is perfectly affordable for everyone now. 5: people think you're smarter. True, but I don't like it. I love how people used to say 'you have such a smart face', but now it's just the suit. I worked so hard to be very high educated. I could advise you on smart looking glasses? 6: people looking up to you? Although in small degree, it's definitely true! 7: people will stare. Heck yes. But I like that. It's good. Try it. 8: other guys asking you: yes, true. Usually just about money. They're always surprised how cheap it is. And I tell them about your channel and give them advice for when they are large like me. 9: women compliment me right next to wife: non-verbally yes. Again, that is terrific. 10: performance in general? Zero difference. But I never dressed sloppy. In summary, gentlemen, suit up! It's worth it.

I had that happen at an employment agency in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania(I live in Kansas). I was looking for a job and a couple of women asked me if I was the supervisor. I felt great that whole day. I wore a shirt, tie, slacks and suspenders. I want to convey confidence and success.

So true, during my internship on base I always dressed with tips from this channel. One day a new Major came into the office looking for my boss and walked straight to me thinking I was him. My boss just sat back and smiled and let her go.

Antonio...you did it again! Another great video. Very encouraging to dress sharp and to step up our wardrobe. I have already had a few times where people thought I was in charge. Spot on!

Mr.Cabello, keep in mind that you don’t have to spend a lot of money doing it. I say this from experience. You can do this.

I listen to u telling the story of the newcomer reaching to being the face on the billboard.... It sounds incredible, but I saw it in my previous company at the airport! It is possible, if one looks always, always, always impeccable and sharp! And people literally start to associate the success and the company with this one impeccable and sharp employee!

A few days ago i had some car trouble and pulled my car into the Car Dealership unscheduled where it normally gets serviced. I was dressed sharp as usual for work, and it was in the morning around 8. They asked if i can leave the car to get serviced. Then the service manager gave me a loaner vehicle which was a new model year vehicle barely had 500 miles on it. I had the vehicle for the day while i was at work. Picked up my Car later that afternoon. However, I do believe that the fact i was dressed well played a part in getting maybe better than usual service. Maybe it was service as usual. But i still think being well dressed allowed me that element of better service than the usual. Be well dressed guys if you can.
