time stamps in description box!! had to cut out sooo much footage, including talking about the actual meditation practice - we did both walking and sitting meditations in time increments. feel free to ask any questions; hope you enjoy xx
@ericbwertz Жыл бұрын
Ah, too bad about the cuts. I've most been wanting to hear about the actual meditation practice, in particular, to the extent that they were guided and if or how the process changed from Day 1 to Day 10. I'm trying replicate as much of this as I can at home until I'm free to attend one away. Thanks for sharing your experience.

there are so many videos about a single 10-day vipassana retreat experience, this is all great, yet you have misunderstood the path to liberation opportunity. Vipassana introduces you into practical insight about the Eightfold Noble Path, Four Noble Truths, Impermanence of Psychological phenomena of human mind, technique for strenghtening & purifying Mind in order to get closer to "perceive things as they are" instead of as Mind would like them to be or imagine. All of this offers a new perspective & chance to come into a new art of living with an equanimous attitude & middle path. so keep going, keep growing, keep purifying, letting go, correcting, forgiving, simplifying, diving in, dissecting, understanding, loving yourself & developing hinesty & compassion which will be the great gift for yourselves & others 💜

This style of Vipassana courses in Thailand have been well known since the 50s-60s when the westerners began traveling the world. And it's Thai monks have helped reviving Buddhism in India of which the majority is Hindus. Monks from Khmer, Laos and Burma come to Thailand to study at monk University these days.

Hi Helen, thanks for sharing your insightful experience. I’m curious if at the end of the program, do you have to donate or feel pressured to do so?
@violahelen_ Жыл бұрын
you pay a ~300 baht fee at the beginning which is mandatory and at the end you're gently reminded to visit the donation office (I personally think that if you are able to give, you absolutely should -- the fact it's donation-based is so that it's accessible to everyone, including those who genuinely may not have any money). but you're not pressured (at least I never felt pressured)

How do they make sure you don't nap? 😄 Were people not nodding off during meditation?
@violahelen_10 ай бұрын
haha, when I first started I was SO self-conscious I kept falling asleep until I realised it is *completely normal* and just happens. they don't try and stop it; it's all part of the experience. as for napping, they don't monitor you (I did accidentally fall asleep once on my bed during the middle of the day) but I guess it's just down to how strict you want to follow the rules. I was far stricter on myself during my 10 day one than my 26 day one (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnjblnubhrKgjsk)!

This is an amazing video and I enjoyed every bit of it and am also excited to share my investment experience for 2021, I believe it will help a lot of people here that are confused on how to start the new year and be productive for the year

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly, if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $505k in raw profits from just q4 of the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy. mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
@Louisharvey562 жыл бұрын
Wow!! this is super awesome. I'm willing to start saving properly or at least have a good investment. please tell me more about it. I'm an amateur investor, i have 2 IRAs, I do not like the cookie cutter responses from Fidelity, Vanguard Schwab, etc 7%-9% year on average, how do you invest?
@d_ken2 жыл бұрын
My portfolio is very much diversified so it's not like i have a particular fund i invest in. plus i don't do that by myself. i follow the trades of KAREN GAYE GRAY. She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial adviser as her diversification skills are top notch/ I say because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis. unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along. my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.
@Louisharvey562 жыл бұрын
By following trades do you mean copying her trades, as is done in etoro? Are you giving her your money or the money stays in your account? I have heard about copying trades but have not looked into it but i have an idea of what it is.
@d_ken2 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. My money stays right in my account. It's all programmatic. plus it's relatively much easier to set up and connect my accounts than creating a financial pan and drafting investment strategies myself. my account just mirrors her trades in realtime

it's similar but from my understanding of Goenka, the entire environment, daily routine and way it is structured is completely different from my experience. in my temple, we were literally living with monks.
