Thanks for explaining this in detail! I’m building my first doll house and I’ve been struggling to figure out how to attach the door! This was super helpful!

You cannot se glue to put the hinges on too and that will work then you could put the screws in it makes a little easier

Thank you. I think I tried the glue route but it got into the hinge part????? Not sure now as it was so long ago.

What if you remove the bottom of the door opening only, instead of cutting ACROSS horizontally to remove the entire wooden bar, you cut vertically down in line with the door frame, on the opening side, and maybe just past where the pin is on the hinged side? Then the hinge might still work. And the bottom of the door would have a gap but if you want it to open over carpet that might be desirable. I hadn't thought about the dolls needing to step over that floor bar before, lol, if that was in a real house people would be tripping all the time, I know I would

I have seen people use small pieces of duct tape as hinges, and you can paint it plus it comes in different colors.

Yes, totally would work if the gap below also works for you, so its a good option. I am a pedant when it comes to this stuff and always imagine the real life equivalent and, as you say, what a pain that lump of wood would be in real world.

You could file down the entire doorframe where you accidentally cut for the hinges, and have a somewhat "smaller" frame. The frame seems mighty thick for me, like a front door doorframe, whereas the frames inside aren't as thick. Just a thought. Though I'm a bit late to the party LOL... Enjoyed your video. I got a chuckle about the tiny screw's... I take apart watches and electronics, so I've got much smaller screw's than those. (The screw's for the door are about the same size as cell phone screw's.) Watch screw's vary but are usually a little smaller than half that, and then continue to go down in size... Could you imagine having to make a dollhouse small enough for those size of screw's?! 😬😅😳 watch screw's are also straight/flat head instead of Phillips head which makes it even more difficult to get them in and out (luckily I'm only taking them apart and then throwing the tiny screw's in my collection LOL. ) Anyway great informative video. 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👌🏼😁✌🏼 🙏🏼Namaste🙏🏼

melindadawn5 Oh my word, respect. I am in awe of folks who can work in teeny tiny scale. One twelfth is decidedly my limit.
