10 Dormant First Party Franchises That Xbox Should Be Focusing More On

Over the last few years, Microsoft has acquired what feels like a quarter of the games industry, and now boasts one of the biggest, most varied, and most impressive stable of first-party studios and beloved gaming properties imaginable.
Of course, it’s no surprise given the sheer number of property’s owned by Microsoft now that a great many of them haven’t actually seen the light of day in quite some time.
From old favourites that fans have been hoping to see revivals for years to relatively newer names that have not received the level of success they deserve, to even smaller and more niche properties, there are quite a few Microsoft-owned properties that we’d love to see brought back. Here, we’re going to talk about a few of them.

Its Arkane Austin going though. The better half of the studio still exists. Plus Tango had cool but niche games that didn’t translate into sales. It sucks as all their aggregate scores were great but weren’t everyone’s cup of tea sadly. The cost of making games vs sales is why the industry is going backwards. That an over hiring during covid.

@@afd19850Arkane Austin made Prey, not Arkane Lyon. Lyon hasn’t made a great game since Dishonored and I’d argue Austin was the better of the two personally. Prey is such a creative gem and it’s Mooncrash dlc should have been the standard for triple A roguelikes. Lyon couldn’t come anywhere close to that dlc with it’s own Rogulike, Deathloop, which got middling reviews from players. It’s not a bad game, but it’s no Prey. The only reason Redfall happened was Bethesda’s trend chasing mandate that it’s studios ‘come up with live service games’. And XBox rushed it out the door when it was getting flack for having no releases on the books. Which also netted us Wolfenstein Youngblood, yet Machine gets to make Indiana Jones and Austin gets canned. Arkane Austin really shines at single player titles and is a massive loss for XBox honestly.

Starcraft is literally one of the GOATS. Its crazy there's only two installments, no spin-offs, no tie-ins, no other genre experimentation. I'd love a Hell Divers 2 like Starcraft game....

Prototype need a complete remake from the gound up in Unreal. It was such an underrated game that had and still has a lot of potential. The sequal was actually really fun, but it didnt live up to the original. They need to finish the cancelled Prey 2 as that was the game that people wanted, not the abomination we got.

They won’t. They just buried the developer that made Prey and the developer that made Evil Within and Hi Fi Rush. XBox management can’t find it’s way out of a wet paper bag. Those IP’s are buried. Any more passion projects are buried. And XBox has no idea what makes a good product or what IP’s have value. We’ve seen this play out for a decade now and they’re absolutely hopeless it seems. Always 1 step forward 10 steps back. It’s always next year guys. For real this time. And when management screws up the devs take the fall. Who would even want to work there. XBox done run out of chances personally. Lol. They’re beyond redemption and I hope they never get their hands on a single additional developer. They are where IP’s, and devs, go to die apparantly.

Despite Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 are successful, still Sony has yet to give us first-party games and I don’t know what games you have scheduled for the month of May, it’s no secret that PS Plus has been a failure due to a lack of monthly games that are crapped with mediocre sports games.
