The ending for Omar in The Wire was perfect, though. It was supposed to be shocking. It was supposed to make you mad. It was supposed to be random. Thats real. The Wire had some of the best writing of any dramatic series, including that scene. Omar couldnt survive the series. Not after everything he had done, and for him to lose his life to a random kid who had grown up around violence his whole life just made sense.
@grantwelsh759414 күн бұрын
If you read/listen to the book about the show, All the Pieces Matter, this was an intentional decision to subvert the going out in a blaze of glory trope. They didn't want Omar's death to be a spectacle. The "real" Omar is the man playing the Deacon. He is the basis for Omar and they still didn't want to change their choice. Kenard was the perfect choice to be the killer and it is hinted at and built up for a while ahead of time.

IMO Omar’s death was extremely fitting. He was a player in “the Game.” And by the time of his death, he’d become a bit complacent. A boogie man who made the hardest run with a simple whistle, until someone didn’t. And it wasn’t just any kid that killed him, it was Kenard, a background kid who had a history of being sneaky and double crossing his friends. Sure, a blaze of glory ending would have been entertaining, but Omar’s shocking and ultimately meaningless death was the only way for him to go.
@real-lomas-chenko14 күн бұрын
Yup. It was fitting

Don't think you understood the death of Omar. It was a poetic reality that a kid raised in the very streets he did, in the very life he had, killed him. Generation, cyclical trauma.

Lexa’s death still pisses me off to this day
@starscreamthecruel802614 күн бұрын
Me too. I kinda lost interest after that point and I havent watched any past Season 6. It's a cheap shot. The Commander dies because she's the lesbian character and breaks the rule that says ALL Commanders must remain alone to achieve their destiny. I never liked that, it was insane and it was clear her Keeper Of The Key(I forget the proper title) was madly in love with her but couldnt act on it and was insanely jealous of the relationship she had with Clarke.

@@starscreamthecruel8026 Literally the same happened to me when Jesus was killed off in TWD. Ironically enough both Lexa and Jesus suffered the "Bury your Gays' trope which pissed me off.

@@prodigal_rebel_2062 I really thought cinema had got past this, since the hayes code isnt in effect anymore but that was the reason it appeared in film to begin with. Movies that came out BEFORE The Hayes Code was written, had all kinds of alternative people.
@SpanishFly12013 күн бұрын
Honestly, it didn't upset me nearly as much as it did beyond "well that's a little bit lame" and I disagreed with how upset people got over it. I know people say the whole "bury your gays" thing, but...as a member of the LGBT community myself, I've always felt we shouldn't be "exempt from death" in media. For us to be represented and treated equally, a character's sexuality should play no part in whether a character lives or dies. Narrative for instance, should. I don't want us to be seen as "special exceptions".

As a kid, I always hated how Locke died on Lost. But, as an adult, I think it makes darkly poetic sense. His entire life was defined by a lack of living up fully to his potential, making his death as wholly tragic as his life had always been.

I think The Walking Dead has to be one of the most frustrating examples of a TV show to exist. It started out pretty decent, Got into its stride and became arguably, one of the better zombie Related pieces of media to exist and then completely destroyed all that by making terrible decision After terrible decision that just ended up running that show into the ground. For people who still like it. That is fine but personallee. I couldn't keep watching the last few seasons that have been put out because of all the stuff that they've done That has made the show go downhill.

Oberyn died on screen the same way he did in the books. Take it up with George R.R. Martin. Cersei and Jaime was dumb because they spent eight seasons having Jaime grow and realize that Cersei was evil and they threw it away when Jaime ran right back to Cersei in the series finale.

Madison did not die in fear the walking dead. She survived until the end of the show. Shows whatculture did not do their research to find out Madison survived the events at the stadium and returns at the end of the 7th season.
@southmouth753614 күн бұрын
I’m amazed at how people still don’t understand Game of Thrones. Cersei and Jamie’s deaths weren’t perfect. Because from Season 1, none of that world was perfect. Good people that you care for are killed early or sometimes in the most painful and gruesome ways and the bad guys get away with it or, like this case, die in a way that is not satisfying. That’s the point…it’s not a world that plays by the rules or learns from its mistakes. Hence the last scene where they all start to argue over the same things again and snigger when Sam suggests the people might have a say in who runs that world. No one learns any lessons and that world will continue to kill good people and bad people but in an uneven, unfair way. It’s baffling to me that people expected otherwise in that last season after 7 seasons of it not being that way. Cersei and Jamie’s whole thing was each other and having Kings Landing to themselves. Having that pride overtake their decency. So it was APT that that world be the thing that kills them and quite literally caves in on them. It’s not the ending they deserved, but like most characters in the show, it’s the ending most apt to the irony of what they wanted.

This is a rumor perpetuated by the showrunners. Chandler Riggs has openly stated that he bought a house near the set right before season 8 and then had to rent it out to the cast because he no longer had any reason to live there. It was just bad writing and cheap shock value.
@Maerahn14 күн бұрын
That's what the showrunners WANTED people to believe. The truth is that the actor Chandler Riggs turned 18 just before Season 8, and the show didn't want to up his wages to the adult pay scale (he was being paid as a child actor up until then.) As I understand it, Chandler's dad kicked up a fuss when they tried to wriggle out of paying his son the full adult wage, and that pissed them off so they booted Chandler in a petty act of retribution.

They did. Chandler and just family have stated they where planning on continuing with the walking dead and even brought a house near set for chandler. Gimple killed Carl for shock value. There are some saying it was because amc did not want to pay chandler as an adult but I don’t know about that part. The college thing was all from the show runners and amc not chandler and his family. Chandlers dad also had a public argument with the show runner over suddenly killing off Carl after Gimple said he would be on the show for years to come
