I went through a severe depression this year, caused by a trauma... I lost all the friends I've had. Even if I was sxicidal and asked for help, they didn't even answer. Till this day I haven't heard of them, not even a "How are you?" Nothing. It did hurt a lot and I felt like I am worth shxt... I am the type of person who is always there for my friends in good and in bad times. I was devastated by their behavior... Friends of 7 years or longer... It hurts, but I am really happy I've seen their true faces. They are dead for me now and I won't ever talk to them again.

This video made me realize that I have been hanging with the wrong people this whole time. I thought the things the video lists were way too familiar then it came to me. The only thing I'm scared about is having to talk to them about leaving the group. We had 2 former friends that left the group as the school year went on and the people who were still in were just trash talking them and even wished death. I recognize most of them with what i had with an childhood (fake) best friend We were the besties till we hit puberty and started to get the signs you mentioned, i ended up the friendship with her 2 years ago and i feel a lot better since she's out of the picture completely after i ended it via a letter She was upset over it and told my mom she was dissapointed in me and she said that "she did so NOT mean to hurt me" guess what? They don't show up as much as they used to when I was younger, but I can remember being taken advantage of more than once back then. I think I would prolly know what a FAKE FRIEND is when I see one... One person whom I thought was my 'best buddy' that I knew and associated with for at least 15+ years in a row, turned out to be the FAKEST you could ever meet in your life. I took really good care of his father in his last remaining months prior to his death; brought him lotsa food, clothes and gave him money, looked after his needs, ect. Basically all of the things a true friend might do if your family was in need of help and support. After his father finally passed away, I even helped pay for his funeral. Then came the time when MY dad died, this two-faced sonofabitch totally kept away from me and NEVER said a single word of condolence, nor did he even give me as much as a phone call. This was at least a year ago, and he still hasn't showed me that he ever cared! 🙄

Take care of their father, but if they don’t try to pay you back for the favour on the spot, even if it’s a small thing, (like taking you out to coffee to thank you for taking care of their father for a day), don’t necessarily dump them, but refrain from commitment.

I’ve had a bunch of fake friends in my life that never really cared about me, but the last fake friend I had was the one I already wrote about in the ‘7 things only a fake friend would do’ video, this girl would literally get so mad at me if I told her how I was feeling about her leaving me out of things and would make herself the victim in these situations. She would purposely give me the cold shoulder every chance she got. I actually have a few stories about her on what she did as soon as she started changing after making new friends, I don’t know if they were the ones who were maybe telling her to leave me out, it kind of didn’t seem like it because they were still fine whenever I was around them and I don’t think they knew exactly what she was doing at the time, but I honestly regret not understanding this sooner that she was a fake friend and that I still kept believing that she was my best friend and I just kept giving her chances after chance, we actually did have lots of fun in every class we were in and some teachers would find us every annoying sometimes to say the least and we made great memories, but I guess friends are only a temporary thing for some of us in this world, people chance and move on and that’s it. If these videos on fake friends came out sooner in the years I was in high school I definitely would have ended my friendship with her a long time ago and would have saved myself from being hurt and constantly let down by her, because I see now that I actually wasted all of my time trying to fit in and chase after her when she never really bothered looking back for me so thank you so much for this video because we all deserve better than having fake friends.

I am also experiencing the same thing. Someone I thought I knew very well. I don't really understand it but I do think it is possible. I've been trying to figure it out and basically people change. I don't know your situation but I think at one time this person probably was a true friend and I'm not exactly sure on their part when that changed but I have been over extending myself trying to help the person when I'm not even in a position to do it and I was doing because I wanted to and it was the right thing but now little by little I've realized how one sided it is and that this person gossips and has problems with pretty much everyone so I'm sure when I'm not around the same is done to me. The more I look back now and see everything there's alot of red flags I missed. It honestly disappoints me more than anything and I'm disappointed in myself for ignoring things that might not have been a big deal if it was an isolated incident but all together paints a totally different picture so I feel pretty lame.

Just real friends who totally respect and enjoy each other. Plato wrote that friendship is the purest form of love. It doesn't offer security like marriages do. It doesn't provide your legacy like children do. Platonic friends are people who for no practical or self-interested reason respect and enjoy each other's company. I am so sorry that happened. I had something similar I was also at comic con with one of my closest friends I knew she wasn’t in the best of moods that day but I tried keeping my spirits up. When it was time to leave I was with my boyfriend (at the time dating) and we were looking around I get a call from her saying something like “get your a** over you b**h” I was so hurt by that. Went home and cried after that.

I realised I’ve been with fake friends almost my entire life. But I decided to say goodbye to the last one that stayed with me 10 years of my life. It still hurts thinking about her and realising that it was all fake, because she only wanted to be with me when she couldn’t be with anyone else. I realized about this because this year my dad got diagnosed brain cancer and 3 people in my family died and she didn’t even called once. I feel so sad.. but I had to cut the relationship for the sake of my mental health.

Yeah, it all makes sense now that I'm older and experienced. But being a kid at school, you don't always see it that way. I just didn't understand it. And I desperately tried to keep my 'friends', even them being fake because I had no one else. In the end, this period of time ended up leaving one of the biggest traumas in my life and I still have to deal with it, even tho I'm almost 30. The 'funny' thing is that these people most probably don't even realize what they did to you, what they left you with and you're the only one who knows and has to deal with the consequences.

Thanks for making this video for your viewers, I actually really needed this. I've been going back and forth thinking that some of my friends are real, some are fake. Some of my friends have become better friends over time, while others suddenly drifted away. Some of my friends actions stick out more than others. I had a friend from my teens that was like this in some ways. I sincerely thought we would be best friends forever. We knew each other for years. And went through a lot together. The main things she did that was pointed out in the video; is that she would constantly talk about herself and her drama. I would listen for hours and hours. And she wouldn’t ask me once how I was doing. Unless she got something out of it. I didn’t realize enough then how much of a toxic friend she was. To this day I’m still healing from what I went through with her. And I have a lot of trust issues when it comes to making friends. And I’m very picky who I want to spend my time with. I was ignored and kept at arms length; if their other friends vanish or get busy- I get attention... Attention is me listening and comforting them. Just saying, cancelling last minute can also be a sign of anxiety, so if that’s the only thing from this lost that they do... think about it. It could be social anxiety, I personally have bailed because of my anxiety, it often makes me feel sick (the thought of messing up in conversation, talking too much or not enough etc.) don’t immediately assume it’s a fake friend, look for multiple signs first ❤️❤️
