@@breathtakers914 Nonsense Winning fights doesn't guarantee you anything. Mma fans are the most fickle/worthless metric to receive praise from. Look at khabib he never lost got a shit ton of hate back in his run its only recently that people started flocking to him. Usman was a dominant champ for years and received heavy backlash its only when he shut Colby up did people start flocking to him. My point is winning fights doesn't equate to receiving praise from fans. They can choose any amount of nonsensical issue that they might have with you and latch on to that for years. Be it a "boring personality", "boring fighting style" "cringe behaviour" etc. Whatever the daft airheads will feel like in the moment is what they'll express wins or no.

Khamzat was never generally beloved. He's always been very polarising, you either love him or hate him. Most people that love him's opinions didn't change much because of the weigh ins they were just disappointed. It's just that the haters (who were previously silent) finally have something to hold on to that's why it seems like so many people suddenly hate

Pretty much. Cuz I love the dude and that's exactly how I felt. I was just disappointed. And then to hear his coach say he basically just came into camp too heavy shows me it was avoidable. But in hindsight I'm glad it happened cuz I think the card turned out better..... I didn't wanna see Diaz get mauled like that for his farewell fight. And Khamzat beating the shit out of Nate would've probably got him even more hate than the missed weight did (even though that's more on Dana and Hunter, Khamzat would've just been doing his job). So it's all good, as long as he doesn't miss weight AND beats Colby the mma fans will completely forget about that last situation.

The thing with Rose isn't just that she put on a boring fight. If she'd played it safe against someone super dangerous it would have perhaps been understandable. What made it so bad is that for every second of the fight she looked so much more skilled than her opponent and like she could finish it any time she chose to and just do nothing but evade..
@travismcminimy8187
@travismcminimy8187 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It made sense to be somewhat standoffish for the first round...I'm sure Rose has memories of getting easily ragdolled by Carla. But once she established she could get back up pretty easily, even if Carla took her down, there was no excuse to at least not try to score points. And she didn't just play defensive. She acted like a videogame character whose buttons broke.
@JSwett0042

thats because she had a gameplan…she fought esparza before and knows how quickly she can take her back, or shoot for takedowns. But go ahead and nit pick her performance and validate the ignorant haters, thats fine too. (Where tf is all the hate for Esparza? She’s the one who brought absolutely no competition to the fight and didn’t even deserve to be there in the first place.) GSP got straight embarrassed and lost his title in his prime to a total nobody who j snuck into the title fight after being a runner up on TUF….you gonna tell me Matt serra had a higher skill level than GSP, or that GSP DIDNT hesitate in several moments he shouldn’t have? C’mon man, I also fully support her and her husband defending her fighting style; she doesn’t need to change sh*t for some mark ass casual fans, and her resume proves her fighting style is beyond capable of winning world titles 💀🤦🏼‍♂️
@thomascooper3406
@thomascooper3406 2 жыл бұрын
@@JSwett0042 She had a bad gameplan.. I'm not a hater at all, I'm a big Thug Rose fan, that's why it disappointed me. I don't have any hate for either of them, I just have more disappointment in Namajunas than I do in Esparza precisely because I know she is capable of dominating her. Sure, it takes two to put on a stinker, but I don't actually expect Esparza to be able to do any better than she did. I'm no casual. I haven't missed a UFC event in over 15 years. I watched WEC, Strikeforce, Pride etc etc. I've trained MMA. I'm a hardcore fan in every sense of the word. But it's not just my opinion is it? The judges scored it for Esparza. Of surveyed media scoring of 19 publications, it was scored 11-7-1 in favour of Esparza. It literally set the record for the lowest amount of strikes thrown in a 5 round fight ever! She doesn't need to change sh**t for casual fans, no. She needs to change that gameplan to actually convincingly win the damn fight.
@HeliumQueen

I disagree, she got finished by Esparza one time already. What made it so upsetting is that she kept screeching "I'm the BEST" after the fight and her pedophilloic troglofauna coach Pat Barry defended that.

I've always said Igor Vovchanchin was the scariest, most fearless fighter from the 90s to the 00s. Fedor happens to be the heavyweight GOAT(and the only real pound for pound heavyweight ever ) he should make the list because he’s never called himself the best and never thought he was the best. He doesn’t really say much, no trash talking, no excuses after losses and he doesn’t give a fuck about who looks away first in a stare down ,he’s literally just there to fight. He’s way more of a bad motherfucker than Jorge Masvidal or Colby Covington could ever hope to be😆. No gimmick here, just running miles every week and never once gassing out in a fight. He also can’t help but smile sometimes when he’s at the weigh ins or doing the stare down. He just is a bad motherfucker and he just shows that with absolutely no trash talking or flair👍

He hid behind thug rose on the bus, he hid behind his mother when he fled the sport the first time after he missed weight against gaethje and was terrified he was going to have to move up and fight without a borderline cheating size advantage, then he came straight back then his behind his cousin/wife when he fled the sport a second time when he thought volk was going to beat Islam and kebab was going to be linked to an L....then came right back the next day

You can have money fights, but exactly what "favors" are you talking about? And I disagree about your premise. People watch sports because they enjoy the sport, the UFC made this culture of drama by choice. There are civilized people who watch sports just to enjoy the sport, and might appreciate a fight if it is going to be close because both fighters have good TECHNIQUE. The more I think about this, the more ridiculous and contrived this whole mma culture seems. What turned me against Rose Namajunas was that her past trauma story, which I celebrated her overcoming against the boogeywoman when bullied with that past by her, kept continuing to be a narrative point. At some point that past has to be allowed to be replaced by the new tales of success and so ,for me at least, like Eminem's and his life story I cannot sanction a continuing victimhood story when clearly now this person has far surpassed that past with enormous success. I cannot see Rose as a still tortured soul anymore than I can Eminem in his most recent work. However, a Rose that discontinues a dark horse persona of yesteryear and instead shows the growth of character incumbent of a champion then I shall enjoy rooting for her once again. Its just the not leaving the past behind aura that bugs me about her. I know trauma is trauma, and I know about trauma in my own way too which is why my opinion is being shared here, but anyone having any troubled past seeks release and relief from it and so it puzzles me when one achieving one's own life goals against certain odds wouldn't relish the absolute resolve it surely brings. I seek my resolve and I know it brings closure for certain. She ain't no underdog anymore and no one should think that anymore lest you be fooled. To finish though, I do love above all her style, that last fight though was underwhelming but not enough for me to dislike her for it, but above is why I carry reserve for her these days
