because the punch that you don't see coming is the one that will hurt you the most. Mark Hunt is a heavy hitter but he's not a sniper, most of Overeem's losses are due to him bring reckless and letting his guard down and it's not about his chin. I will always say that there's no such a thing as a glass chin in the heavyweight division because one single shot could knock anyone's lights out, only a matter of time. Honestly imo Charles olivera is the most prolific glass cannon, not in the sense that he isn't durable, he can obviously take a hit while a lot of these guys just fold immediately, but in the sense that he has the most dangerous offense in any fighter while still having incredibly bad striking defense. I mean he can check leg kicks amazingly but he is extremely hittable in the face. He's kind of a glass canon of the most elite order, one that can beat any fighter no matter how good if they get caught on the feet or ground but also one who can get caught easily and pay for it

The reason why Cody absolutely outclassed Dom is because Alpha Male had been training him since he was a kid to fight Dom's specific style. After that Cody had zero direction because his entire career had been molded to beat Dom. After that Alpha Male (who has notoriously poor gameplanning in the coaching phase due to egos) sort of went directionless with Cody. Cody very obviously isn't the smartest crayon in the box. In addition, he isn't terribly witty and its hard for him to get his point across unless he's actually sitting down and allowed to unpack his points. This is why he looked elementary level in press conferences and on TUF. I feel like a huge oversight was not made in finding a sports psychologist for Cody and supporting him in the mental and psychological aspect of his championship. In particular, Cody just going red level even in the smallest conversation is a huge indicator of his lack of emotional intelligence. I'm obviously not some elite level pro fighter, but I did compete in MMA in the US and had a 4-1 record. So my opinion does come with a small amount of understanding.

You hit the nail on the head. Cody was not mentally or emotionally prepared to be a champ. Any fighter who learned what irritated could easily set him off his game. He clearly wears his heart on his sleeve but that's not always a good thing.

Melvin's fight with Robbie Lawler was nuts. Robbie was so compromised by those leg kicks Melvin was just teeing off...until he wasnt anymore. And thank goodness Cody's team on the ultimate fighter stopped him from "doing something about it", especially against that version, or any version of Conor. He'd have gotten knocked out defending someone who would eventually be knocking him out...twice.

I'm a bit surprised to see Brock on the list in some ways. Fair points about his def and stuff, you're right. But he took a ton of dmg from Carwin and still won. Again you're spot on, it could have been stopped w Brock losing. But for me a glass cannon has super low hp or def stats or can't take a shot. Saying he had no defense in terms of technique or in a different way is fair. I feel Brock showed a lot of toughness and took a ton of shots against Carwin. It's prob nitpicking from me tbh.. Just in that sense it's tough for me to see Brock as a glass cannon but just imo. More like super aggressive and defensively irresponsible but tough ah lol.. The examples of Duffy and Soukoudjou and others all really resonated w me. Cody too is a good example for me.

To be fair, the list was created for "glass cannons" not glass jaws. While he wasn't knocked out, Brock broke down the moment any huge hits landed. It's actually rare seeing a guy flop around after taking a huge punch, the only other time I can think of where a fighter responded to hits in a similar fashion is Bob Sapp. You could see the pain in Brocks body language and reactions every time a powerful punch landed on him. You don't see that very often at the top of the divisions in MMA. someone who clearly can't handle taking damage. While we could argue that he could take the damage considering he wasn't knocked out, it's mostly to do with his reaction and body language during those moments. I'm a Lesnar fan, thought it was amazing what he was accomplishing in the UFC but he clearly hated being punched. His body rejected it entirely. lol Either way, he's still one of the most exciting fighters to grace the octagon and his ppv views reflect that.

Legit downloading Dark Souls 3 after watching another Majin Joe achievement hunter video & I beat Gywn in Dark Souls 1 as a glass canon literally killing myself with power within (a pyromancy the cause you to do more damage but lose health over time) as I killed him and it counted btw. So I could not relate to this intro more. Also Volt Tackle Pikachu with light ball is also a baller glass canon. Love this channel, cheers mate.

Glass canons are fun to watch because they either knock someone out or get themselves knockout

My personal nominee would have been Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard. The guy's overhand right could sleep a Mastodon. But he had no cardio, even less ground game, and a glass jaw. Straight jabs would knock that guy senseless.

As the old man of the group, I didn’t understand a single video game reference, but B is the man! Now I have a new phrase I can use - “he’s a glass cannon!” Cheers 🍻 from the only guy here who stopped playing video games back when the original XBox and PlayStation2 were the best consoles. Aren’t there like 52! PlayStations and Xboxes now? Anyways. Now no one will read this bc it’s too damn long! Enjoy UFC 290 fellow fight fans 🥋👊🏻

Houston Alexander came to my gym for a "seminar" . That seminar consisted of him teaching my team very outdated blast double techniques (grab the quads and put your forehead in his chest),, and then everybody stood around the boxing ring and everyone sparred him for one minute each..... I think he just got paid to have a private workout Lmaoo

Not a big Lesnar fan but his downfall was because of diverticulitis. He can definitely take a punch, you need to watch him against Shane Carwin. During the fight I thought Lesnar was done after receiving the bombs from Carwin but he sustained and won. So definitely not a glass jaw candidate.

Any MMA fan should know a fight could end in one punch, even if you have a rock solid chin. The fact that some of these guys have been KO'd a few times here and there, doesn't mean they have a glass jaw.

The whole time I was watching this list I kept saying to myself Cody Garbrandt is coming up next… and sure enough he was number one. It’s so true unfortunately. The guy has amazing hands, speed, and everything necessary to be a fighter but his chin can’t take it. He’s one of my favorites and I recognize how skilled he is. But I’m not surprised he landed on the number one spot
