My number one, is not shared among so many prog fans - it's Nursery Cryme by Genesis - this one is just so emotional, compared to their (still very very good) later works. Nice to see Vangelis get some love. (It’s Van-GAL-is, btw). His soundtracks are outstanding, none better than “Blade Runner.” Most of his work was improvised on the spot while watching clips of the movie he was working on. He wasn’t a fan of the limelight, didn’t care for the music industry, with reason: his 1970 album “L'Apocalypse des animaux” (for the film of the same name) was blocked from release for over two years because a music executive didn’t like one track on it (“Création du monde”).

Cool, and not a bad choice either. Three of my favorite keyboardists are on this list and the others as far as i know them, have a well deserved mention here. I don't understand why Thijs van Leer is on the list. He is an appreciated flute player and composer, but i've never heard or seen him as a keyboard player worth mentioning. Thinking of a part two of this video my first thoughts would be Joe Zawinul of Weather Report. He was one of the first people to use synthesizers live on stage. Inventing how and what could be done with them in the context of his music. Of course Jon Lord could not be missed in the list. Starting out with piano and Hammond, a classical education grounding Deep Purple together with Ian Paice. Really starting off with their album "Deep Purple in Rock", where he presented his heavily distorted organ sounds as an essential motor and musical element of the band's sound. Like Rick Wakeman he made side stops by working with orchestra. Strange they only actually met when in their sixties or seventies. Lesser known nowadays but certainly worth a place on the list, are our Dutch keyboardists Ton Scherpenzeel (Kayak and Camel), and Rick van der Linden (Ekseption), both of which got international appreciation.

Thanks for the detailed comment! Thijs van Leer might not be the most renowned keyboardist compared to others, but his contributions on keys in Focus were pivotal. @BackingTrackCenter an in addition as a producer of GTR ephonimous album, with Steve Howe and Steve Hackett. Chris Squire told to Steve Howe: "you should listen the BUGGLES, they have some proggy vibe". The rest Is history.

Very Happy you include Minnear and David Sinclair in this list. For part two I suggest Dave Stewart (the one of egg and hatfield and the North), Rod Argent and Dorothea Raukes.

Great suggestions! Dave Stewart, Rod Argent, and Dorothea Raukes all brought something special to the progressive scene. They could definitely be in Part 2. Thanks for sharing!
