Welcome to this new AnimalWised video where we take a look at one of the most fascinating creatures in the animal kingdom - the dolphin! We do this by bringing 10 interesting facts about dolphins which you can use to learn more about dolphins in general, teach kids in the classroom or simply to get fascinated by this incredible marine animal. Dolphins have such great intelligence and social capabilities that we can learn so much not only about how they interact with each other, but also what dolphins can tell us about the natural world. One fact we do know is that dolphins in captivity don't fare as well as those in the wild, so the importance of dolphin conservation is one fact we hope everyone takes away. Dolphins can also distinguish their own image from the images of others. Meaning, they are able to recognize themselves and their likeness. This is highly uncommon in the animal kingdom, and demonstrates their extremely high intelligence.

I work with one of the most renowned dolphin research teams in the world and I am dumfounded how the person doing this narrative seems to not know why dolphin close one eye and shut down half of their brain.. This is commonly known, it is because they have to breathe... it is a simple explanation yet we are all puzzled here in Sarasota as to why you would make a video about dolphins and "science study" of them and not know the simple basics of that?

Sometimes Dolphins under belly " blush " when foreplay and or breeding is taking place , I live on a boat and never knew about it until about 12 or more year's ago when I saw two dolphins in the foreplay mode one of their under belly was a shade of pink and fuchsia. . . I was so amazed of all my boater friend's only one other that I know has seen this . Another friend did not believe me then he looked it up. ⛵️😎🌴⚓️🌺🐠. So 11 fun fact's .🐬

If you LOVE dolphins, the last thing you want to do is become a trainer. Read Ric O'Barry's "Behind the Dolphin Smile" and John Hargrove's "Beneath the Surface" first, then see what you wan't do do. If you LOVE dolphins, being a dolphin trainer in a commercial establishment will BREAK YOUR HEART, KID, because it's not about the dolphins, it's about $$$$$$$$$$$$!

Dolphins also use a type of camouflage thats called back ground blending. If you want to know what that is you can look for it on the internet. Its not easy to explain if you are not an english men.

People need to realize that dolphins are taken into captivity for health reasons and after so long when they get better they can’t be set free cause they would not survive in the wild and then that dolphin has a baby and then that baby has to stay in captivity it’s not gonna miss the wild because the tank is all it’s ever known, but yes some dolphins are just taken for entertainment purposes which is horrible! But places like SeaWorld and many others have got their dolphins for health reasons

NO, you're thinking of other oceanariums, small ones like the Dolphin Research Center in the Keys. Sea World is notorious for going out and capturing wild dolphins to bring into captivity. It's still technically legal to capture wild dolphins in the USA, you know. Sea World keeps slipping money into the pockets of our representatives so they don't change the law!
