Now that I heard the whole problem, best solution is to increased govt expenditure on healthcare.. mostly on increasing the chunk on aiims-- increasing no. of institutes, increasing no. of seats, raising salary to docs. We all are giving money to doctors anyway but this out-of-pocket money isn't changing the system, it's going straight to the doc's pocket. Our money should be channelised to the system through the govt. The system is self destructing

Akash ji, as a doctor i would say you perfectly and impartially told what's wrong with healthcare in India. A few things i would like to add:- 1) Future brain drain of doctors from India due to messed up health system in india 2) Healthcare services in western countries (usa/Europe) are over 20 times more expensive than India. But healthcare expenses are totally provided by government as in uk with 10% of thier gdp to healthcare whereas in USA almost all citizens have medical insurances to cover medical bills. 3) Corporatization of Hospitals by politicians have added salt to the wounds and has damaged the doctor-patient relationship.

The points are actually well spoken and true. Being a doctor, we are overburdened, underpaid and still not secured! We work for hours (sometimes days) continuously without any time to sleep or refresh and still we are treated like shits! Above this, we can't bear the fear of our lives! One more point, I want to add here: I myself hardly get 1-2 minutes per patient in my OPDs in govt hospital. You can't imagine us to deliver quality services in such overburdened workspace!

Thanks for pointing out the deeper issues at play. The politicians simply don't care about public healthcare, else greater part of the central and state budgets would have been spent on building public health infrastructure, facilities, and ensuring universal healthcare. Blaming the doctors is easy. Addressing problems in the system is hard, and no one seems to care. The last point about explaining procedures to the patient does not work in the government sector. The ideal consultation time with a single patient should be at least 15min according to international standards. But when a single doctor has to see 150 patients a day in the OPD, he can afford only give 3-4 minutes per patient. The government should improve infrastructure, hire more doctors, and increase salary of doctors working in the small towns and rural areas, or doctors wouldn't go there

Just to clarify your argument I want to put only one point in your statement I am with all the doctors but what problems which are faced by the nation now day is due to any recent government Noo it is because BRA .. i dont even want to put his name here I got 90% in my 12th science and got great score in neet to get admit in MBBS but due to the policy of reservation as I am a brahmin and one of my friend from ST category got admission in only 65% and I din't even get admission As you said private college were giving me admission but my father has no capabilities to pay such bills .. Infact that friend of mine who got admitted at only 65% is 100 times more reach than me , and he left his seat because he was not comfortable So what if there was no reservation in medical sector ? The students who have actully potential to treat patient can treat patient efficiently If you are agree to this please give justification about this :-) Your great follower , Devanshu Upadhyay

i would like to raise issues related to nurses too. I am a nursing officer by profession , according to WHO the nurse patient ratio should be 5:1 , 5 patient over 1 nurse but in india it is more than 1500 over one nurse , the amount of work load and frustration and lack of respect for our profession is at such a level that one could only understand it only when he or she will actually turn around in a hospital and see what we actually face each day , despite of so much studies we are doing these days as a nurse , anybody in india hardly knows that how much a nurse studies to treat patient , i have done Bsc hons in nursing from safdarjung hospital than MSc medical and surgical nursing from aiims for we have to go through entrance exams and so much preparation , many of our collegues who have even done Phd in nursing are now leaving india because of excess load of work unemployment and less pay on the other hand we are losing good highly educated nurses and we are left with only those nurses who are some how not able to go out from india because of their families and other issues. The countries like ireland ,UK , luxemburg , canada after taking ielts and conducting tests are happily fulfilling their patient nurse ratio by paying in good amounts to indian Bsc , Msc PHD nurses from all over india . A Msc nurse in UK earns 4lkhs per month india in a pvt. hospital she gets only 30000 after experience and the situation is so bad that a bsc nurse in pvt. hospital she gets 14k only because of which nurses are leaving the country. governmet hospital pay nurse a starting salary of 71000 but where are the vacancies ?? more over the situation for nurses are so bad in india that patients are so much unaware about nurses thier education qualifications that they consider a security gaurd as a nurse , sweeper as a nurse , aaya as a nurse , because of how nurses are potrayd in movies and adverstmnts. not a single nurse in india wear mini skirts nor she is a piece of decoration in hospital , with all such disrespect and frustration we work without respect each day , if you will really want to see the syllabus of nursing you will be amazed to know that the most of the books we study in graduation we are studying same what MBBS students are studying , i have huge respect for health care worker whtr a hospital sweeper or a doctor but nursing is the spinal cord of hospital and we need good highly educated nurses to remain in india . if people like you could raise this issue we would deifintly create awareness towrds this noble profsn and make millions of nurses smile because of a small symbol of respect . I am a nurse and my sister is a doctor so i have equal respect and knowldg towrds both the profsn. but we nurses would love to see any videos for nurses to create awareness . their are huge number of nurses ( phd) who are teaching graduate doctors and graduate nurse too in skill lab training teaching news methods of practice . surprising but its true .

Mai Kolkata se hu, Mai Kafi time nrs and medical college apne papa ko lekar gaya hu emergency k time jab mere dad ko brain stroke ka daura hota hai.. Tab mai situations dekhta hu ki becahre Ek Ek Drs 2 to 4 patients m Pareshan hai already and suddenly Agar koi new case agaya to uske Ghar wale aake kehte hai ki sir sir sir please jaldi chaliye or pehle mere patience ko Dekhiye Ab Dr to bechare already dusre case m uljhe hai wo kaha Jaye phir.. Ab Aise situations m Dr's old case ko chor k gaya to old case wale ko Bura lagega or Agar new case wale k paas Nahi gaya to new wale ko Bura lagega.. To bechare Dr's jaaye kaha? Maine ye situations Kafi time Apne samne hote hue dekha hai.. Or Jo log Dr's ko maar te hai mai unlogo k khilaf hu q ki jaha Roz 10 log marte hai Wahi Un Dr's k ilaj ki wajah se 100 log aache v hoke Apne Ghar jaate hai...
