Interestingly, Anakin's modifications to his engines also made them easy to stall when starting up, hence why he stalls at the beginning of the race.

This has a parallel with performance-tuned engines with lightened flywheels. Faster throttle response, but the crank-shaft loses momentum quickly.

I loved using Neva-Kee's absurd acceleration in Episode One Racer. Definitely my personal favorite. My little sister and I always cheered for Sebulba just because his face kinda resembled our dog's. It's too bad he had to be the antagonist and get destroyed by a little, annoying, human boy.

Keep in mind that the Radon-Ulzer engines were designed for use in starfighters, not pod-racers. Therefore, their power and acceleration was far superior to any purpose-built pod-racer engine.

I always took Neva Kee and its FG 8T8 in the old star wars podracer game because I didn't like how the other pods were always swinging left and right on the slightest change of direction :P

Depended on the track. But primarily Mars guo was every I used. I remember doing lots of in game testing to find the pod with the fastest top speed and Mars guo had it. He was one of the few that would be able to get over 1000kph.

Kyle Ray - I preferred Neva Kee because of the exceptional control. Mars Guo might be better if you can handle him. In any case, I'd play a remake of that game. With today's technology it could be really fun.

Interesting i find this now of all times. Good info, great speed comparison, excellent delivery. My favorites to use were anakin because you can understand him, bozzie baranta because of how hard it is to get him, ark 'bumpy' roose because bumpy and that awesome accelleration, and aldar beedo because he had the best paint scheme imo. Also those massive engines.

I never understood why humans aren't suited for podracing considering we see plenty of humans piloting starfighters that are far faster than any podracer

starfighters have inertial dampeners to counter G-forces. I doubt pod racers do.

Podracing is more challenging because of the many obstacles they can crash into and humans, unless they are force sensitive, can't maneuver through all of them safely.

Same. I always mained Mars Guo until I could unlock bullseye. Guos machine was so underrated too. It responded well to mods and hardly drifted at all in turns. But by the end of the game I needed bullseye to win.

What prevents the cockpit of a podracer from lunging forward when braking? Since it's connected by a cable, it would have to have its own braking system or the slack in the cable would send it flying forward over the engines when braking. But I am not sure that is the case.

The pod race we saw in episode 1 is a major event in terms of Pod Racing, it's real world equivalents would be events like NASCAR's Daytona 500, IndyCar's Indianapolis 500, Formula One's Grand Prix of Monaco, Endurance Sports Car Racing's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the National Hot Rod Association's US Nationals and the Australian V8 Supercars Bathurst 1,000

They did. There was a sequel for consoles called "Racer Revenge", the Pod Race also made an appearance in Lego Star Wars Episode 1, there was also an Arcade version of Racer Episode 1 that featured better graphics but only 4 tracks and where you werent easily at the front all the time, AND there was also a Star Wars Racer mode in Kinect Star Wars with a number of different pods to play and tracks to race. Still would be cool to get one with modern graphics and updated models.

Man pod racing needs to be put more into Star Wars stories just as much as Lightsaber battles and spaceship battles. I know pod racing has nothing to do with wars even but still. Mars Guo probably had a damn good handling Pod because I and many others used that one a lot in the game. The handling made up for speed and you could dominate a race.

Anakin won because he was a Jedi. Not because he was human. He says he’s the only human who can pilot a podracer and Qui gon states he must have Jedi reflexes in order to be able to race pods. Reflexes quick enough to deflect blaster shots with a lightsaber.
