"I'll never stop doing it!" - Dustin Poirier
These are the fighters that no matter how much their coaches & teammates have begged them during fights like Dustin Poirier jumping for the guillotine against Benoit Saint-Denis, they just never stop. Turns out there are plenty of examples of this. It's both fascinating and hilarious.

@@AthleticGamer17 it really didn't, that's just yet another terrible Joe Rogan take that seems to have become popular belief. Arm in guillotine is one if the lowest percentage submissions in the sport and is incredibly difficult to finish even at the best of times. It wasn't even close and Joe Rogan will continue to give terrible takes and somehow convince everyone he's right.

My theory for Dustin is that he knows he’s too boxing heavy to be ready to sprawl, so he just accepts the takedown attempt but uses the guillotine as his defense and not really an offensive move.

I think Dustin uses as a threat to make guys wary of taking him down and as a headlock to keep them in full guard. Kinda like how some guys who aren’t good wrestlers still shoot takedowns just to keep their opponent guessing and/or slow the fights pace.

@@phobosex7504 That's the thing tho, in training and in your local BJJ tournaments and stuff, I bet he and a lot of other people hit it all the time. Problem is that in those settings people are gonna tap way easier. People aren't gonna risk injuries and grit their teeth to try and survive a guillotine in the training room. In the cage though? Half their money and in some cases a belt or a chance at it is gone if they tap. That guillotine needs to be *deadly* and inescapable in order to hit it in real competition

Its been done to death already and it wasn't a bad habit. Rousey used her Judo for pretty much her entire career. @@greghuffman3061 He has good kicks, not super deadly but he normally uses them very well to manage distance and set up his grappling. Not sure why he wasn't doing that against Topuria, but maybe the latter's pressure just got to him. I don't think "Ryan Hall's Imanari roll" is a good candidate for this list since he's often very deadly and effective with it, it's more the case that he needs a broader, better skill set to set it up better against higher level opponents.

Valentina Shevchenko has a black belt in Judo so that throw could just be the one she is most proficient in or is simply her favourite. It looks like koshi-guruma. Her Judo training is secondary to her striking though, it's not on the Olympic Judo level of Ronda Rousey or Kayla Harrison. Both women prefered o-goshi, which utilizes control from underhooks, and harai-goshi (overhook control + sweep)
