Dana's ability to just ignore actual good questions by yelling, ridiculing, insulting and general temper tantrum throwing is legendary. Its one of the reasons I don't ever watch the pre fight press conferences any more. The same 10 people ask the same softball questions; how was the camp, are you excited or nervous, did you do anything differently this time, have you seen the holes in your opponents game etc. BORING. Dana is so good at belittling and he has created this echo chamber where no hard questions ever has to get answered cause if someone asks a toughie they're banned for life and ends up on his little shit-list.

I was always on good terms with Dana when I wrote for USA TODAY from 2008 to 2011. Yes, I feel conflicted about that. The way he treated some of my colleagues -- particularly Loretta Hunt, Josh Gross and Ariel Helwani -- is impossible to defend. They were doing their jobs. And that treatment of those "outside" meant that those of us "inside" were viewed with some skepticism, as if we were all Dana's obedient sheep. I had some fun times covering the sport, but I don't miss it.
@seanquinn87909 ай бұрын
You likely never said anything negative lol
@beaudure019 ай бұрын
@@seanquinn8790 Negative ... not *too* much, though I did report on the incident in which Dana dropped a slur on a vlog. They were a little ticked off when we ran a cover story on the growth of MMA and put pre-TUF Kimbo in the lead photo. But they also figured USA TODAY was a big mainstream platform that they coveted at the time -- as odd as that may sound today. I had a bit more leeway than, say, someone from Sherdog.
@laszlogyorgynagy90199 ай бұрын
@@beaudure01 Honestly, its kinda annoying for the consumer that the media covers everything with a bit of coloring. Doesnt matter if its a leftist,rightist,center or "free" media. Nobody tells a story 100% truthfully. Thats why people lost faith in the media. The other thing is how the media members select their words just to make a story sensational. I understand that they need the clics, and u wont get that many clics by just writing an accurate title or story. for example media titles "Biden gets confused while doing speech" while the old guy talks more coherent than 60,70% of the ppl. "Trump loses the incoming election because of financial issues" while his assets made him top 500. Khamzat Chimaev cant enter the US, when this narrative came up he posted stories from USA. This is just 3 example from the top of my head. Publishing a story faster than others became more relevant for the media, than telling the information objectively.Because if u sue them, that cant take years. They make a correction somewhere which will have 1% of the original views, but the dmg is done that is what matters for the media.
