If you weren't watching mma in 2004-05 you'll never understand how good BJ Penn was. From being one of the best at LW to move up and finish Matt Hughes who was 35-3!! To then fight Machida in K1 30 pounds under. He didnt care, any time any place! Shame today's fans only know him for the wrong reasons

I mean, if you judge a fighter on his last 10 fights alone, even someone like Anderson Silva has a terrible record. I think more fighters are hyperaware of the concept of legacy now, so they know to get out on a high note with as close to an unblemished record as possible. See Khabib for the best example of this.

Lots of them could have went out on top but they can't stop for one of those 2 reasons. Khabib didn't retire to preserve legacy though, he did it bc his mom didn't want him fighting anymore.

It's not usually a good example in a title fight. Just by getting the title shot, demonstrates you aren't biting off more than you can chew. Especially since Izzy was not even close to do finishing Marvin. He just badly out pointed him, but neither fighter caused serious damage to the other

And he acted like he would knock him out but as soon as the match started, instead of knocking him out, his plan was to survive, and he didn't. That musician dude with his track suit image he seems to enjoy a lot is making me forget what i just watched... especially the fairytale like pink scenery and white smoke look amazing together with the track suit - guitar combo. I think we all will be rocking some track suits to everywhere after seeing this.

What about Israel Adesanya fighting Jan Blachowicz? Almost nobody gave Jan a chance, and Dana wanted Adesanya to win because his is a bigger draw and name, but that plan blew up in his face after Israel got totally outmuscled

Diaz - Sanchez was really a good grappling exchange, would've loved to see it go two more rounds. Even though Sanchez stayed on top, Diaz kept rolling nicely, feels like he needed more time.

I agree. Costa's also not a one shot ko artist like a Dan Henderson or Rumble Johnson for example. Costa pressures opponents with his agressive, physical in ur face style. His 1st shots the one to stun 'em, the 2nd shot dazes 'em, 3rd shot drops 'em , 4th and 5th...shot finishes 'em up
