@@AmericanVintageLifestyle-h6c Obviously NOT forgotten, just based on their sales numbers. You can, if you want, actually by it by the pallet at Costco.

Spam is still very popular, especially in Hawaii and Asian countries. I am a Boomer, and nobody I knew ever dressed up to go grocery shopping. There weren’t many cars in our urban neighborhood, and people walked to the store. We had butchers both regular and kosher, fish markets, bakeries and our local supermarket was small.

I remember going to the grocery store in the 50s and early 60s and there were no plastic containers in sight. Just class bottles and tin cans, maybe some aluminum. Even bread was packaged in wax paper.

Wax paper? Not sure if I saw those 🤗 What were the prices back in the 50s and 60s? :)

No need to "go to a dairy"...milkmen would deliver to your home or apartment. I liked Ring Dings more than Twinkies. A loaf of bread cost 25 cents.

Milkmen were a great thing to have, right? :) 25 cents for bread, those were the days

In the 50's Hostess cupcakes cost 20 cents/pkg. We lived near the bakery and could buy day-old packages for a dime.

I can remember that, when women dressed up to go shopping even beyond the grocery store. Women would dress up in a dress, wore a girdle to which she would attach her stockings, yes stockings this was before panty hose, put on a slip then her dress, put on high heels, do her make-up and hair, wore gloves and a hat sometimes even a light weight coat. Why? Because you never went out of the house without getting ready. Even the children were dressed up. I should know because I was a child in the 1950s. I remember most of what was mentioned. Though most of the pictures in this video of grocery stores are of today's stores. Thank you for the memories. God bless.

Thank you so much and God bless you as well! 😊 And yes, I agree that people have more of an effort to dress up nicely, even if they were going to a grocery store 🙂
